\r At Ficocello's at each appointment I advise my stylists the same thing: I want my hair to be a classy and pretty blonde, not a bleach bottle blonde. Because hair color and its beauty are subjective, I have posted photos of some results. The above photos are from different stylists that have worked at Ficocello's and continue to be employed there as of January of 2014. \r \r Photograph 1:\r Stylist: N (first initial only)\r -Top of head black roots are present\r -What is supposed to be highlights is all over color around face only\r -Hair around the face is several shades lighter than the rest of the hair\r -Service requested was a full foil, which means the hair should have evenly placed highlights throughout the whole head of hair. This was not a partial foil. \r -In attempt to bleach the fine dark baby hairs around the face, the stylist painted bleach throughout the front third of the hair, rather than lightly painting bleach on a very tiny area of darkness at the temples \r \r (Went to the advanced training center to correct this problem. Was charged for both services, even though the lead worker there agreed there was a significant problem with this service and needed to speak to the stylist about it. I didn't say anything and just paid the bill and tip again.) Thank you Sharon for doing a good job correcting this problem.\r \r Photographs 2 and 4: \r Sylist: A (first initial only)\r Dark spots left on the back of my hair from (I believe) the person sitting next to me who was having her hair dyed brown. She had her dye rinsed out in the sink right before me. I believe her hair dye ended up left on the neck area of the sink (which was not thoroughly cleaned by her stylist and not checked by my stylist?) and which my neck then rested on after having my foils removed and some touch up work done at the sink. There was no neck towel there. Immediately upon leaving Ficocello's two hair stylists pointed out the problem with the dye on my hair. I contacted Ficocello's to have the problem corrected and was advised they would see me on Saturday, which was three to four days later and after a job interview that I had told my stylist about…the reason for my visit that day. \r \r Photograph 3: Chemical burn on the left side of my forehead from bleach left on the skin too long.\r \r Tips: 1. Mistakes made by stylists should be corrected gratis. The client shouldn't pay for the initial service AND the correction. Excellent customer service would suggest that the client should pay for neither because of the inconvenience. However, paying for one of the two services is acceptable. 2. When a client has a significant problem, such as dye from another's hair color dyed onto their hair, the correction should be treated with urgency and the client should be seen as soon as possible, not at the stylist's convenience or next available opening. 3. No client should be yelled at by a receptionist or stylist for any reason. Ever. \r \r I have had other experiences at Ficocello's Salon which should be documented here, but I don't have photos, so I won't comment further. \r \r \r \r \r \r more

Not impressed. I spent $60 and 2+ hours to get highlights and my hair looks EXACTLY the same as before - can't see the highlights at all. Waste of my time and money. I won't be returning. more

hair thumbs up, front desk service soso 9/13/2011

This review is for the Advanced Training salon in St. Paul. As my stylist was finishing up my haircut, the receptionist came over to tell me to let them know in the future that my hair needs extra time...and there is a $17 charge for getting your hair flat ironed! Since the last time I went there I wasn't charged extra and didn't seem to take up more than an hour, I was surprised and a little irritated at the way she told me this information (as though I was already aware, and when I told her I wasn't, she wasn't any nicer to me). My stylist was great and took her time, telling me she should have told me before starting the flat ironing that there was an extra fee (and she made sure the receptionist didn't charge me the extra fee this time). However, I left with a bad taste in my mouth, despite the great haircut, because it was a brisk and rude way to talk to a customer. I won't be returning, because other salons I go to DO NOT charge extra to flat iron, and do not take extra time on my hair. I have been a receptionist in a salon before so I know how it is on the other side...please watch how you talk to customers and inform them of changes. I should have been told upfront, but I'm more irritated with HOW I was told. more

I love this Salon! I am always pampered with refreshments, magazines, relaxing extended shampoos and great promtions. Last month they had a drawing and I won a $100.00 gift certificate!! Watch for deals and promotions--they are for real!\r \r If you want a fabulous haircut and the absolute best hair color technician, ask for Shane in the Blaine Salon. You won't be disappointed! more

Excellent Service! 12/16/2009

I'm kind of a last-minute, I want to get in NOW type of girl, so sometimes I can't get in with my fav stylist. However, since they've all been through advanced training (not just licensed, but a ton more training before they're even in the salon), I know I can usually get in with someone else. What I really love about Ficocello's is that they actually LISTEN to me - they ask a bunch of questions before they even get started. I swear, even the receptionists know who I am when I walk in. Everyone is so friendly. I wouldn't trust my tresses to anyone else! Pros: Stylists are highly trained and actually listen Cons: They actually take days off more

What a joke 9/12/2009

I have dye all over my forehead and ears. As my stylist was away I had to try and wipe them off with my hands. She also didnt quote me correctly. It was absolutly ridiculous! I had to pay 100 dollars for a color I didnt ask for and walked out practically in tears. They say there is a 100 percent satisfaction garuntee but when I called, IN TEARS, and expresesd my concern to the manager she said ABSOLUTLY NO refunds. They said I have a two week period to decide if I want to go back and get my hair recolored. Will I go back, no, because if thats the kind of service I get, would it get any better the next time around after asking for a refund, my guess would be no. This was the salon in St. Anthony Pros: my stylist was absolutly adorable and super nice. Cons: Way overcharged, didnt do what I asked, hair dye all over!! more

Not great 5/19/2008

I hesitate to write a bad review, but I used this site to make my decision to go to Ficocellos training salon in St. Paul, and hopefully my experience will help others make a better decision. Pros: Reasonable priced; sweet demeanor of stylist Cons: Unflattering and unprofessional results; no opportunity to give feedback more

Quality Hair Cut & Color - low price 8/28/2006

I've been using Ficocello's Hair Academy for a few years and have very good luck. I've haircuts ($18), foils (about $55) and my eyebrows waxed ($10). \r \r A supervisor always has to check before your hair is dried (and they make any necessary fixes). more

Great Stylists!! 5/19/2006

I have been getting my hair done here for about 3 years now by the stylists in training. I pay half what other salons charge, yet the students aren't inexperienced as they have been thru beauty school. The entire staff is extremely courteous. Your hair gets checked by a supervisor, to make sure the everything is alright. The students don't stay long, so it may be a different stylist each time you go but still a great place!! more

I recommend the training school 6/8/2005

Have always loved my cuts there and I am very picky. Most current techniques. The stylists are extremely friendly, and you can't go wrong because your cut is checked by a trainer. If you want to save some money and want a good cut/style, check it out. more

awesome!! 10/15/2002

First time at Ficocellos, didnt know what to expect. I went in for a new style...I had 5 or so inches cut off, and it is awesome...my stylist did the best job!! I will definetly be back!! more

GREAT 8/22/2002

I have been getting my hair done at the Academy for 5 years now by the stylists in corporate training. I pay half what other salons charge, yet the students aren't inexperienced b/c they have already beem through beauty school. The entire staff is extremely courteous. The 1 downside is if you get your hair done by a student, they need to have your hair checked by a supervisor, so you have to wait a liitle longer, and the students don't stay long, so it may be a different stylist each time. Pros: inexpensive, good products, no extra $ for style Cons: supervisors, (see review) more
