Fia Newton Ctr

Fia has been doing my color and styling since I moved to Newton Centre 3 1/2 years ago. I've been to so many salons where my hair ends up looking ""frosted"" (like our mothers would get in the 1970s). Fia really listens to me, and was the first stylist who didn't dissuade me from going red. I think other stylists are afraid of using red coloring, but Fia gets it perfect every time. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair before, or so many requests for my stylist's name! I haven't been unhappy with my hair even once since seeing Fia. The staff is extremely pleasant and friendly. If I want my bangs a little shorter, or any other request, Fia always takes the time to make sure I'm 100% satisfied before I walk out the door. You'll love your hair like never before. more

The worst salon of all time. Supercuts for $20 will give you a better cut and experience. The salon owner is contemptuous and rude and the desk staff is also obnoxious as if they have no interest in making money. Perhaps this is simply a 'front store' for some other dealings??? more

I went to the salon asking for Davines hair products and the man or boy at the desk looked at me as if I was crazy. He didn't even ask if he could find out if they could get the product for me. He just said ""um- no we don't carry that"". Pros: Looked Clean Cons: Rude person at the desk area more

Ive gone to fia for probably 2 yrs. ive always gone to Jon. he is amazing, veryy nice, does a fantastic job, knows how to make your hair look amazing on you. i have very thing liveless hair and he made it healthy and made my hair look more full. it is expensive but well worth the money. Fourteen years ago, I walked into a Newton Center salon asking about a hair cut for my daughter who was just turning two. Much to my surprise, Fia greeted me and said that she would be delighted to cut my daughter' hair -- she did and it was beautiful -- not just the hair cut but the gesture. Fia would not accept any money -- just a hug and a smile. Many years later, I was intrigued to see that Fia had opened her own salon near my home and I have been Fia's client ever since. Fia is a true artist, amazing with hair but also an interesting combination of professional, kind and gentle. Her staff is professional, talented and approachable -- there's no haughty attitude in her salon. It is a jewel in the middle of Newton Center. more

I never write reviews online, but the last 2 reviews were so one sided I just had to write a review to submit to Citysearch. I have been a client at Fia Salon for the last 8 years. Frank who recently left the salon cut my husband and teenage son's hair. Fia does my hair. Fia recently had surgery and was out of commission for a few months. I had a different hair stylist cut my hair while Fia was out. I was very satisfied with my cut. And I have always been very happy with my hair cut, color and styling by Fia. We will miss Frank, he has been cutting the boys hair for a long time (since 2nd grade for my son!). Over the years the salon has gotten very busy, and the crew was stretched while Fia was out. But she is back, and I am sure things will be running smoothly again with her back in the salon. Running a retail operation is tough, it is impossible to satisfy everyone, I am sure that there will be instances when a few customers are unhappy. The best thing you can do in these situations is to inform the manager or owner. Pros: Consistently delivers a great hair cut and style! For three years I have overlooked the stone cold decor and tense owner/stylist/client weirdness at Fia because I have received the best haircut money can buy in Boston from Frank. $80 spent with Frank is as good as $400 with Sally Hershberger (which thanks to the insane treat of a former boss, was also an amazing cut). Frank is focused, friendly and not a phoney. I have referred dozen's of women to him almost to my detriment because the last 6 months have been hell getting an appointment with him, but it is always worth the wait, he never disappoints. I used to go to Fia but I stopped going after a series of extremely bad experiences there. I was treated so poorly by the owner and a colorist that it made me feel like I was a victim of racial or similar discrimitaion. more

I had my hair cut at Fia. It was a wonderful experience. I have very tricky hair, and my stylist, John, listened patiently and spent a lot of time making sure that the cut looked good and would work for me. It was a very relaxing, fun experience. I just went to Fia salon for the first time and had a great experience. The salon is beautiful and uniquely decorated. As soon as I came in, I was welcomed by the receptionist and introduced to my stylist. I was impressed by their professionalism. My stylist Alan was fantastic. He took his time to go over my haircut with me. Once he started to cut my hair I knew that I was in good hands because my hair would already look great wet. The final result was amazing. It has been really easy to take care of my hair. It has been a while since I have been this happy with a haircut. I can't wait to go back. Pros: Parking, Professionalism more
