Perfect 5/5/2005

A perfect mix of fun ,casual and fine dinning all in a very cool setting and wonderful service to top it all a wine list for all budgets Pros: cheap valet, decor, cuisine more

worth a 2nd try? 4/23/2005

w/reservation prompt seating. cool decor but my butt went numb after 20 min. bit noisy had to raise my voice a few times. server was indifferent, but helped with wine selection and after giving us water, did not return for 15 mins. bread took forever. Moroccan sampler yum. entrees came 40 mins. later. beef tajine delicious. but $18 for beef and veggies? lamb tajine too salty and where's the beef? Moroccan BBQ ribs tasted like BBQ ribs. sundried tomato artichoke risotto was delish! texture of creme brulee was pasty and top was chewy not crunchy. taste was fine. apple cake was yummylicious! served warm, but no vanilla ice cream? coffee $7? cool mug. validated ramp ticket even though they don't usually w/valet. thanks. overall, slow service, water glass always full and finished dishes taken away promptly, good taste and decor, but over-priced. Pros: good taste, cool decor, clean restroom Cons: slow service, over-priced, uncomfortable chairs more

Not exactly for singles 8/23/2004

I'm suprised why Fhima's is rated so highly for the singles scene. I find it very attractive for first dates, special occasions, or for a great meal before a show. They have a happy hour, but it's mostly business folk out for an after-work cocktail-not single folk looking to meet others. Don't go there expecting to meet tons of other singles. And if you do, go late, and on the nights they have entertainment (Wed - Sat.) more

STUNNING! 8/4/2004

What can I say about Fhima's?? Having dined at some of the finer establishments, I have found that some are mediocre in ambience and OK for food. Fhima's stands for ""Phenomenal!"".. The Atmosphere is top notch, the Food, indulgingly magnificent, and the service is outstanding! I can only say this, This is now our favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities and we will be frequenting this establishment with confidence! Pros: Atosphere, Food, Service Cons: , None, None more

Comfort is of an upmost certainty 6/18/2004

When entering Fhima's the first feature that caught my eye was the sculptors of half-nude women embedded into the walls. To tell the truth, rather than looking tacky it added a wonderful accent to the impressive color scheme. Being that I was accompanied by a party of 12, the waiter made it seem as if it was only two of us. I made a very wise choice choosing this place for our prom dinner. The staff is young yet educated, the cooks are legit, the Halibut Catalan was absolutely buttery, the bar was very trendy, and the bill was under $50 for both me and my date. A+ Pros: Ambiance/Decor, Staff, Food more

Fhima-rvelous 3/7/2004

I'd heard a LOT about this place and now, having been, I think it's a bit over-hyped. I had the Lamb Tahine, which was very tasty but not enough meat for the price ($22). They have a unique array of choices, a large and interesting wine list and on Sundays and Mondays you can bring your own bottle and there is no corking fee. The atmosphere is cozy while slightly austere. The service was excellent and the waiter had a good working knowledge of the menu, and made good suggestions. Yes, it's pricey but is the value there? Depends, not for me. So it's a splurge place rather than a regular hangout. Pros: valet parking, unique food, great service Cons: , bathroom lighting more

Sorry attempt at a hip New York Place 2/3/2004

Unless you think you are a celebrity, demand to be treated like J. Lo and have money to buy respect from the bartenders than don't waste your time. They treat people like your at Jack in the box and trying to use food stamps. They are rude and make you feel like you should not be there. Of course I know plenty of people who have dressed up spent a lot of money and that still didnt work. If they were looking for only the big spenders that would be one thing but they pick and choose who they want to be nice to. They handed out coupons to the downtown area and than refused to take them. Working in the area I won't reccommend them. Cons: , Prices way too high more

New Year's Eve 1/2/2004

My friends and I just spent New Year's Eve at Fhima's, and we had a wonderful experience! We had a nice table in the back, which was much quieter than the main dining area. Our server ( Todd) was fantastic. He was friendly, experienced, and paitent answering all our questions. The food was fantastic! I had the pork tajine and it was delicious. My friends enjoyed their pastas, paella, and I heard lots of raves from the two who ordered the steaks. We ordered one of each dessert and the waiter threw in an extra creme brulee. They were all amazing. Our bill was about $40-60 per person with wine, salad, entree, and dessert, so it wasn't even too expensive. I highly recommend it! Pros: Food, Wine list, Service more

A Great Experience! 12/26/2003

This was my first time at Fhima's, and it was outstanding. The ambiance is great, the food was very good, as was the service. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. He explained everything very thoroughly, and our glasses were never empty. Also, the wine list is very impressive. The only drawback is that it is a little pricey. I treated my sister to dinner, and we each had a salad, an entree (we both had fish), 2 drinks each, and we split a dessert. The bill was a little over $100. I think it was worth it, though. And valet parking is only $3. Probably a very good date spot. Pros: Ambiance, Service, Interesting Menu Cons: Price more

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 11/30/2003

Everything in this hip restaurant was perfect ,impeccable service and well timed staff, great eclectic menu in a pure and invitingly chic atmosphere ,St Paul should be proud. Pros: Service, Food, Cheap valet more

Fabulous - But Not For Everyone 11/3/2003

Had dinner prior to a performance at the Ordway. Staff was very accommodating. Our server was topnotch (Christopher). He was well-informed regarding the menu selections and wine. (He made the wine recommendation based on our TASTE -not on the price!). Chris paced our service to ensure we would enjoy a leisurely meal - yet make it to the performance on time. The manager on duty stopped to inquire as to how the meal and service were. When leaving, the host not only asked how we enjoyed our dinner, but also asked what we ordered, how was our service, etc. - which led us to believe that Fhima's really is concerned about providing excellent service. We loved the modern ambiance. The only negative is the restroom environment which is so sterile that one feels as if they could be in a surgical prep room! We will definitely return. Pros: Service, Food, Valet Parking more

Yummy! 10/5/2003

My trip here was delish! Interior is great with lots of sleek contemporary lines. We sat along the wall in cushy booth-style seats with lots of comfy pillows. I had the best experience with Ahi Tuna in my life! It came perfectly seared with this amazing wasabi sauce. I highly recommend you get here if you can!!! Pros: service, location , food!!! more

Wonderful 8/1/2003

We had been putting off coming to Fhima's because it's a little pricey, but it was wonderful! For starters, we were given olive tapanade, which was excellent. My crouton salade was very flavorful. I was a little disappointed that the goat cheese in my goat cheese and pine nut angel hair was on toasted bread rather than in the pasta, but the creamy marinara sauce was nice. My sister had the steak bearnaise, which we all agreed was fantastic. The creme broulee is toasted at tabeside and was very good. They have an extensive wine list and lots of martinis! Unfortunately, we didn't see a lot of eye candy, except the Colin Farrell-esque waiter. It's nice to have a great place like Fhima's in St. Paul! We will definitely come back. Pros: extensive wine list, outdoor dining, nice lighting Cons: expensive, cigar smoke more

Barbaro Garbey!!! 7/22/2003

Last week I went to Fhima's for the third time and their out!!! The food was terrible. My oysters were spoiled and my buddies swordfish looked more like a burnt offering fit for a mouse. It was the smallest piece of fish I have ever seen. Four of us were served at different times over 15 minutes apart. Not to worry though, they really made up for it buy offering to buy us dessert. I'll never go back. Save your money, skip Fhima's!!! more

Best 7/20/2003

You have to try it the best all around restaurant in the twin cities,as good if not better that most east and west coast hip spots, from the cuisine to the wine list to the decor, the best....................... Pros: innovative cuisine, service, atmosphere Cons: fine details more

Almost Perfect 7/20/2003

Wondering where you can get excellent seafood besides walleye in the Twin Cities or an *authentic"" tagine? Looking for a place that you can impress both the worldy and downhome palate? Do you like a place where you can just roam in off the street and be treated well? Fhima's is it! This is absolutely my favorite upscale restaurant in the Twin Cities and if I didn't like little hole-in-the-wall places would be favorite overall, hands down. Food is wonderful, playful hip decor that isn't too much, great selection of wines and specialty martinis, and friendly service to boot. Heck, the Morrocan food even impressed my aunt who has been to Morrocco. The only downfall is that sometimes when it is busy the service lags. Parking can also be an issue, but the search is worth it. Pros: food, service, ambience Cons: parking more

Trend setter 6/21/2003

I have been to this restaurant before the wild game, before the opera after a concert and by far this is the best all around restaurant in the twin cities, a great lamb tagine or a great dish of mussels or just simply the pizza ,always good ,it has even gotten better, and as far as nightlife New York doesn't have anything on St Paul. Pros: ambience, food, service more

As good as it gets 6/4/2003

From the moment you enter this wonderful restaurant you are taken aback by the hospitality and the decor, it is the cuisine thatkeeps you coming back my favorite sole Malaga and the meritage tartare,we have been to Fhima's 4 timesand it has gotten better and better........ The wine list enormous and affordable was explained to us by the owner chef who was charming and very knowledgable. Pros: Valet, cuisine, Decor more

A MUST TRY 6/1/2003

I have to admit that with all the new rstaurants opening lately some good some bad , I was aprehensif about trying Fhima's not because of anything I heard as a matter of fact it is because of all the buzz that I finally decided to try it, but rather becuse of my snobiness about St Paul, well this is by far the best restaurant in the twin cities a definit trend setter, combining claasic dishes such as the lamb tagine with a nouvelle cuisine twist is pure execution and all that in a fun and vibrant atmosphere ,French service without the french atittude, the creme brulee was spectacular , this restaurant definetly gets my best of vote. Pros: Execution of food, Wine list, Setting Cons: Door presence more

A bit of something new and different 3/29/2003

Great atmosphere, what you'd imagine a modern French-Moraccan bistro to feel like. The service was just right, friendly and helpful - not pushy. The wine list is extensive, specialty martinis are well made and the Moraccan appetizer sampler is very tasty and not overly filling. The Lamb Tajini was served steaming hot and bursting with exotic flavor. Finally, the meal was topped off with a cup of freshly brewed black coffee and one of the best creme brulets I've tasted (carmelized right at your table). The only drawback was the traffic...during a Wild game. Pros: service, atmosphere, exotic taste more
