After JNG was showcased on Man vs Food I got curious about the burrito which was actually very good. This place is really nice as it offers tasty mexican dishes which don't cost ...

Great tasting, and plenty of it. 11/17/2009

I've been to the new location twice, so have only had two items from the menu, but both were fantastic. My giant burger (Dez) was blasted with great favor including fresh chopped chile. Next, was a (Belen) breakfast burrito smothered in great New Mexican green chile. Its refreshing to see someone make green chile without chalking it full of corn starch and flour to thicken it. I could taste the freshness. Great service from the crew. Thank you. Get the beer and margs flowing quickly to complete the experience and a star is born. Pros: Nice New Location, Nice Menu Cons: Liquor License? I really needed the Tecate more

awesome 11/12/2009

Pros: new location is great. more

Thank You 11/12/2009

New Location 11/8/2009

Sometimes I crave good, real deal, mexican food and even though there are lots of choices around there isnt a whole lot of people doing it right especially in the south denver/littleton area. I am so impressed with the food that I have to have it at least once a week! For $8 you can get a double burger(the dez) that will feed a small family...literally, and it is delicioso. Jack and his family make it such a friendly place that its hard to stay away and i dare you to walk away without thinking "wow, that was so much food for the money" or "thats some of the best mexican food I've had". Thanks sooo much for coming down south(belleview & santa fe)...your tacos are appreciated! Pros: Awesome portions for the money Cons: burgers are huge!!! more

LOVE 11/3/2009

Love this place, its like my second home. The warmth of the family, food and servive makes my visit there every time so injoyable. I love the taste of the fresh tasting food sure it takes a little time for your food but its worth the wait , and the friendly service. That is why I eat at Jacks every week. Pros: exciting more

Majorly Disappointed 10/30/2009

Okay, so I wanted to try this place because it was featured on Man vs Food and thought that this would be a good idea to try something new.. boy was I wrong!! I ordered one of there burritos which came out cold and runny from the beans. The taste was really bland and they put way too much cheese on the burrito to compensate for everything else it was lacking. The chili was okay but again a bit watery. The margaritas again were just okay, however the wait staff was so rude and slow. They had no clue what was going on and lacked any customer service skills. The prices are outrageous for the quality of food that you are getting its insane. I left feeling that I just wasted my hard earned money some discusting food!! I will never go back again let alone waste anymore money here. Pros: Nada Cons: Food, Prices, Wait Staff more

Terribly boring and bland! 8/21/2009

I want to first say that I am not an owner or employee of their competition, just to clarity for the reviewer who thinks that's the only reason someone gives a bad review. Also, the reason I gave 2 starts instead of one is that their margaritas were good and the patio was nice. My boyfriend and I saw this place on Man vs. Food and I just had to see a place that has a 7 lb burrito. We went over a few days ago for lunch and left completely underwhelmed. I ordered the 4 taco sampler while he ordered the stacked cheese enchiladas. We both are pretty open about food but just because you put it in a tortilla doesn't mean you should call it Mexican. I think it's an insult to that culture to pass of mediocre fair as authentic. The food just had no real flavor to it. His looked like a mess too. I know Mexican food differs by region but it was just blah. We eat everything from cheap and quick to fine dining. It says a lot that we both got in the car and immediately expressed how disappointed we were with the food. We both said we'd never go back. If you are looking for good Mexican go down to South Broadway and go to Taco y Salsa. It's cheaper and authentic! Pros: Large portions, nice patio, good margarita Cons: bland food which shouldn't be called Mexican more

Seriously over rated 8/14/2009

I went to Jack-N-Grill because it was featured on the travel channel. I brought some friends with me and we were all very excited until we got our food and we were very disappointed. It wasn't bad food, it just had no flavor. I am not sure how the other reviewers can give this place 5 stars. On another note, we were only a party of 4 and 20% gratuity was added to our bill. I have never been anywhere that automatically added that high of a gratuity for 4 people. Not that the service was bad but seriously, 20% for flavorless food that took some time to get to our table???? If you want good Mexican food, go to Efrains in Lafayette or Boulder. Cons: No flavor more

AMAZING PLACE! 8/10/2009

I saw jack-n-grill on the travel channel and figured my husband and i have to try it! We have both grown up in denver and never even heard of it! We absolutely enjoyed ever aspect of it! Yes it takes a lilttle while to get seated or even for the food to come, BUT if you read the menu carefully they do say it is good food not fast food. Your paying and waiting for something that is truely enjoyable and worth the wait and money. Everything is very large portions and for a very good price! The house margaritas are to die for mmmm! I think that anyone who has to say bad things about the place is either just jealous that their resturant is'nt doing as well or they are just plain old to picky! If you cant wait a little while for a table in an amazing place for good cheap food then you should just stay home and eat some ramen! The servers were very sweet even ones that werent ours. They all seem to be a big happy family at Jack-N-Grill and we will be going there forever! Also we were told they will be opening another location down south near bellview and prince area which were super excited for seeings how we live in castle rock and make the drive that far! Pros: anything and everything Cons: nothing at all more

Oh, my gosh! 7/27/2009

Here we go again, DenverFoodie2, you need a lesson in geography! First off, the reason the food tastes different to you is because you are used to eating "Mexican" food. Jack-n-Grill is not Mexican, it is New Mexican, like from the state of "New Mexico". Mexican food is from the country of "Mexico". Tacos y Salsa is good if you want "Mexican" But for true home style cooking from the state of "New Mexico", Jack-n-Grill is by far the best. We have won every award on our menu. I just got a copy of USA Today, (Fri/Sat/Sun, September 11-13) edition, in the "Life Weekend" in the Travel Section, they list the "10 great places for Latino flavor, flair" in the country! Guess what? Jack-n-Grill made the list...."TOP TEN IN THE COUNTRY"!! Not to mention....Man vs Food, and The Travel Channels Extreme Places to Pig Out! And you say my food had no real flavor....and mediocre? And trying to pass off as Mexican? Well, I hope you know the difference now. Take it from me, I love to eat and cook, and I too have been to every restaurant known to man. My food is consistent and fresh. I suggest you give us another try and order one of our huge burgers! You can get fresh green chile and cheese....ummmm. "The Food Network Magazine's", "50 States, 50 Burgers" just awarded us with having the best burger in Colorado. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Huge portions 7/27/2009

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend of ours. My husband ordered the burger which was HUGE! I ordered the bean & cheese burrito. The green chili was ok but I was disappointed that the beans weren't refried which I prefer. Next time I'll order a breakfast burrito. Note to owner: Albuquerque is spelled wrong on your menu. It isn't AlbuRquerque. Pros: Good food more

What the Hey? 7/9/2009

I can't understand why people (employees, management or even its owners) from other restaurants write bad comments about their competition! It's obvious that those terrible reviews are written by them. No ordinary customer would have such a bad expierence without it being resolved by the Restaurant Management or its Ownership. Come on! Jack-n-Grill is a gem. I have been going back on a regular basis and have never, NEVER had a bad meal or terrible service. They put out some fabulous food. I wish it were a bit bigger, but my family and friends really enjoy it there. And for the reviewer that says..."I'm Hispanic and I know Mexican" Well pal, you may be Hispanic, but your taste buds are dead! Stick to your Taco Bell. I encourage everyone to try this "Nationally Famous" mom&pop restaurant, (They were featured on the Food Channel's "Man vs Food" and on the Food Channels "Extreme Places to Pig Out". They have a 7lb Breakfast Burrito Challenge! So all you haters (employees and management from other mexican restaurants) that write lies about this little successful joint, GET A LIFE, no one pays attention to your vile lies. Try it once, you will be hooked. I got family coming in from California, can't wait to take them there. Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: NONE more

Great food for the price! 5/27/2009

This place is wonderful i dont now where everyone else went! This place is not expensive you can get a great hamburger of 120z for 8 bucks, who can beat that. Or theres great breakfast burritos one weighs 7 pounds and is only $12!! If your going call ahead cause its usually packed! Pros: Huge wonderful hamburgers Cons: Always busy more

don't waste your time or money 5/26/2009

I'd heard good things about this place and I since I don't eat out often, I thought it would be a good bet to spend my hard earned money. What a mistake! I'm hispanic and I know good mexican (new mexican or tex mex) food. The food here was so tasteless and uninspired. I ordered cheese enchiladas (how can you mess them up?) and my friend ordered beef enchiladas. We suspected a bad experience was at hand with the awful hot sauce they included with the chips. Anyway, after 20 minutes, our food arrived, COLD, and my friends plate wasn't even beef enchiladas (only God knows what it was). Of course we never saw our waitress again to comment. We decided not to even if we could have because my enchiladas were absolutely the worst I've ever eaten so why bother to go from bad to worse. Even the beans and rice were bland and yucky. Taco Bell is better. How this place got a good reputation is a mystery. Pros: nothing Cons: pricey, food is tasteless, service is horrible more

All I have to say is gross!! 5/18/2009

Oh no you got to be crazy, this place is gross!! I mean it's not even authentic mexican food! It's expensive, small plates, and the service is bad, I'm hispanic and I know mexican food, and even if your not mexican there are WAY BETTER mexican resturants to go eat at. Won't be going there again, That place has certificates for nothing, that place is no good! Pros: nada Cons: everything more

Terrible service 4/20/2009

My husband and I don't mind waiting when a place is busy, but we went to Jack-n-Grill yesterday and they took it to a whole different level. We couldn't find anyone to seat us, but there were empty tables all over. We finally got seated on the patio but didn't get menus for a very long time. We finally got our drinks ordered but decided to leave after 20 minutes of them not coming. We were getting up to leave when our waitress came by and acted all surprised we hadn't received our drinks yet. She didn't even try to act sorry or make it right and even told us the food would probably take a long time too. What horrible customer service! We were shocked and disappointed because a lot of our friends really like it there. We won't be going back. more

authentic New Mexican cuisine and friendly service 4/19/2009

We've gone twice in the last month and both occasions have been enjoyable. The food is the most authentic New Mexican style that you will find in Denver. If you are looking to get in and out quickly, then this is the wrong place. But don't let that stop you, try one of their homemade margaritas, selection of mexican beers, or a shot of one of the many tequillas at the bar while you wait. We've found the wait staff to be friendly and very attentive. They make some great suggestions about the food, for example instead of picking between two great chiles (red and green), they recommend I try both, "Christmas style". I've heard the BBQ chicken tacos are good too. What makes Jack and Grill so unique is the family atmosphere. We look forward to coming back many times in the future. Pros: great food, tasty margaritas, casual friendly decor Cons: dining room could be larger more

Terrible,slow service 3/30/2009

Unless you want to spend half of your afternoon trying to flag down un-attentive, always rushed, incredibly rude wait staff I would highly recommend not coming to this restaurant. I'm talking 25 minutes just to get drinks when we sat down, and another 40 to get our food--oh and then they forgot our silverware--another 10 minutes! Ageism may have been somewhat of a factor--my boyfriend and I are in our upper twenties but look young, and we noticed all the older people around us getting faster and more polite service--even from our same waiter! Regardless, the ancho chile bbq tacos are good, but the bean and beef burrito is passable at best--and the bite sized sopapillas are not great either--drizzled with what tasted like store bought chocolate and raspberry sauce. Not sure of other New Mexican restaurants around but do yourselves a favor and don't waste your time at this one! Pros: good ancho chile bbq tacos Cons: service was so horrible it definitely overshadowed the food more

Not like the early days 3/22/2009

I loved this place when they first opened. I'm from New Mexico and I'm picky, picky about my native cusine. Great green chile, carne adovado, Santa Fe style enchiladas. The service has always been iffy to down right rude (but so is the owner so he kind of leads by example, or lack thereof). I ususally try and go at "off" hours and the service is a little better. At least they have Margaritas now but I'm not sure that's a good thing since the sweet and sour mix they use tastes like gasoline (stick to beer). Prices have easily doubled since they open. A plate of chees enchiladas (food cost about $1.00) tops out over $11.00. All in all when I get to jonesing for New Mexican I head to Little Anita's. Pros: Food pretty authentic New Mexican Cons: margaritas, price, service more
