Best

Great food, Big Elwood is to die for. You can not beat the prices on the food. We go all the time with a group or just the two of us. Always have a good time. Pros: Cheap food

Worst

The food is cheap and decent, the shrimp are good, but I have to agree with others that the waitresses remind me of a car salesman hovering over you before your drink is even half...

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! 7/28/2011

I can't get over how overhyped and terrible this place was. We bought into the hype, I should have read the reviews first. There is a reason that there are so many reviews of why the service is terrible. The waitress was a straight up B*tch to us. I had one day in St. Louis and this was place was such a mistake. Go somewhere, anywhere else! Eating dog food out of toilet would have been a better experience than this place. What a Horrible, cold, bitter place to waste your time going to. more

overcrowded, but fun 5/11/2011

Great food. Love the chick on a stick. Service is not so fast or friendly, but can you really ask for much with how busy they get? They could afford to hire more help. Food is CHEAP. Drinks are priced about the same as anywhere else. Place gets a little too crowded so if you don't get being jam packed amoungst a bunch of people, then don't go here. They could afford to expand even more. Outside area is nice, but yet again is always jam packed. It'd be alot more pleasant with more space and being able to breath. I do always have fun when going here with a group of friends and tend to run into someone I know everytime. People just love this place and drive from all over to come here. I don't like the ordering system for the food. Rather than wait in a line that circles the building, can't the waitresses that serve your drinks just take your food order too? They'd make more tips that way too! more

Not sooo FAST...Not Sooo Good 7/6/2010

I've lived in St.louis all my life and this was only my second time at Fast Eddies. I have to say Im not really impressed. The so called huge basket of fries not huge at all. The big elwood is ""ok"" at best, chick on a stick is just that the smallest wings i've ever seen.Staff not friendly. It took 10-15 minutes to get our order and there was hardly anyone there.Only went back a second time cause my husband had never been there and wanted to try it. I wont go back. Pros: food is cheap Cons: ya get what you pay for more

Not Impressed... at all! 7/2/2010

There are ""ladies of the evening"" that greet you as you get out of your car. And once you get inside... good luck finding a place to sit down. They say they have the cheap food and there is a good reason for that! It's terrible!! And don't even think about trying to to talk ""Big Ed"" he's the worst! I'd fire him in a second if he treated any of my customers the way he treated me. He's a snob from the word GO! Looking down on you as if you are nothing and no one to him not even a person let alone a paying customer! I'm truly surprised that this place is able to stay open at all!! Pros: Can't think of one! Cons: Owner is rude and very offensive! more

GREAT FOOD & GREAT FUN 10/20/2009

Great food, Big Elwood is to die for. You can not beat the prices on the food. We go all the time with a group or just the two of us. Always have a good time. Pros: Cheap food more

fun & friendly 9/24/2009

This was one of the most friendly and fun places I'd been in a long time. We enjoyed it so much we purchased a fast eddies T-shirt and funny drink holder and we're going back this wkend! The music is GREAT, the food is a good price and is delicious and the crowd and waitresses are friendly - me met new ppl, heard a really good band, drank inexpensive large draft beers and ate pork on a stick... it was fabulous. lol Pros: music, food, ppl and atmosphere Cons: bathrooms could have been a little cleaner more

Never Again 9/20/2009

I used to frequent this bar, but I won't go back after yesterday's experience. more

FOOD WAS AWESOME 8/13/2009

WE HAD A GOOD TIME Pros: FAST Cons: BUSY more

Worst customer service 6/1/2008

I was in Fast Eddies tonight June 1st, 2008 at 7:40 pm and was not impressed at all. waited 40 minutes for my food, and when I finaly got the food I was missing part of it. when I asked where it was the bald gentleman began searching through a bucket of reciepts....NEVER finding mine and then turned to me and said you only ordered 1 cheese burger! I will not go back, and will tell my friends the same Pros: NA Cons: Rude cooks and servers more

Dry Burgers 4/13/2008

Fast Eddies is unigue in itself - Food isnt worth the drive dry burger slow service , refills were slow to come if at all. This is no longer on my places to go . Pros: intersting place Cons: crowd service food more

Bon Air is what it is: A Great Dive Bar! 1/14/2008

All right people, let's get things straight; Bon Air is a dive (but in the good sense). Why people complain about it being crowded, too loud, and the servers ""swarming"" around you is beyond me. First of all, it's not Tony's in STL (although I can't complain about having someone hover around you asking if you're ready for a refill). How many times have you had to wait to get your drinks (yes, alcohol) refilled and it's taken a long time. Second, it is ALWAYS crowded - deal with it. This is part of what makes Bon Air unique, it's packed nearly the entire time it's open. Don't go to Bon Air if you don't want to compete for a table. I've been going there for years and after awhile you get pretty good at finding them. The place can get loud, so don't count on having a ""conversation."" Instead, order a cold draft, place an order for some food, and enjoy yourself. This place is without a doubt the best bar to have a group of friends meet up or a group function. Their brats are great and the Busch draft is the coldest and best anywhere. When you go to Bon Air, just know that you'll deal with loud music, fight for a table, have great drink service, and they only take cash. Enjoy it for what it is - a great dive with character, no class, and a damn good time. Pros: Ice-cold beer, cheap food, and great decor Cons: parking can be tough more

Unbelievable cool bar!!! 12/20/2007

This is one of the coolest bars of all time, throw in great food and it's almost heaven! PLACE IS HUUGE!!!!! I stopped here on the way to St Louis, but will definitely be scheduling a trip just to hang around Alton next year. Great Bar! Pros: LITTLE HOT REDHEAD WAITRESS Cons: NONE! more

waste of time and money, worst place ever. 11/24/2007

NOT worth the gas $$, VERY disapointed, There at 11:15 saturday afternoon.. ordered...got food after a 35 minute wait..burger cold and raw, tenderloin TOUGH as shoe leather, brat over cooked, its bun soggy. shrimp still slightly frozen.. kabob was ok.. I HAVE NEVER been in a place that MAKES you order drinks. We were told BY THE MST RUDE WAITRESS in our STATE.. we ALL had to order a drink or leave We finished what food we could ,before we were made to leave BY THE MANAGER..(wasnt leaving 20.00 in food cos they dont let you take it out!!! Pros: it was open Cons: it should not be more

Way over-rated and too crowded 10/18/2007

The food is cheap and decent, the shrimp are good, but I have to agree with others that the waitresses remind me of a car salesman hovering over you before your drink is even half empty, but if you order soda, be prepared for the waitresses to let your drink run dry for quite some time. It seems they see $$$ from high priced alcoholic drinks, or ever flowing beer. The place is loud, so much so a conversation is basically yelling at each other, and many times the patrons tend to be rude. How this place ever became popular, I have no clue. If you are a biker or a sports fan, its made for you. If you aren't, avoid it like the plague. Pros: Cheap food Cons: Everything else other than the cheap food more

Too much.... 11/8/2006

Way too much hype for Fast Eddies. Yes the food is cheap and pretty good, but you pay for it in the long run with overpriced drinks and waitresses hovering over your table asking you if you need another drink, all the while expecting a nice tip. Not to mention the place is seemingly always crowded, making for excessive waits for food and little room to move. more

The Worst-Kept Secret in the St. Louis Metro Area 4/30/2006

Everyone and his brother knows about Fast Eddies; featured several times on the Travel Channel, this corner bar has become an Alton institution. The food is not only cheap, but delicious as well. The Big Elwood steak kabob is especially top-notch. The only problem with this bar is that it is almost always packed. It can been 2 p.m. on a Sunday, and the parking lot will still be full! If you don't mind waiting a while for food, definitlely give Fast Eddies a try; definitlely better than anything else Alton has to offer! Pros: food, price Cons: crowds more

mabuscher 2/1/2006

While going to school near by Alton I've came pretty well fond of Fast Eddies. Food is cheap and good. My favorite would be the shrimp and a nice cold brewed Budweiser. The bar is usually crowded but it has a good atmosphere and great people more

Great fun! 9/20/2005

We often ride our motorcycles there for some tasty and inexpensive food. I love that they have motorcycle parking! My favorite is the Big Elwood. So good, so filling and super cheap. My husband loves the burgers and Hot Chick on a Stick. Although the menu is somewhat limited, its all good! Pros: Food, Parking, Value Cons: Crowded, but good! more

Always a winner... 7/12/2005

as the Mad Hungarian would say! Having known the Sholar clan (Eddie is the infamous owner) for many years (my parents went to H.S. with Eddie, and I also went to H.S. with both sons) I might appear to be biased. However, the place speaks for itself. It's an institution in Alton, and may it always be around! You can't get cheaper, better food anywhere and the atmosphere is, well, interesting to say the least. Get there at least 30-45 mintues prior to opening (maybe an hour on Sundays) or you'll find yourself without a place to sit and enjoy the greasy deliciousness of the Big Elwood, Hot Chick on a Stick, and peel-n-eat Gulf Shore shrimp. Coldest beer east of the Mississippi! more
