$96 to drive to my house, $200 to pull a fuse? 9/23/2011

A Flame tech came to my house a couple weeks ago. My outside air conditioning unit was not turning on(which i made sure to let him know it was the outside unit since the furnace was still blowing air throughout the house). His first move was to go straight into my basement and look at my furnace. Like I'm an idiot..... Not listening to the customer....strike one. When he finishes looking at my furnace we go outside, he comments on the pear tree in my back yard saying, "that's not a good idea".... Insulting customer....strike 2. He opens up my AC fan/compressor, takes a couple readings and then goes to the fuse box outside. He pulls one fuse out and checks it, pulls the other fuse and checks that as well. Both blown. He says, "well thats not good". He proceeds to open his sales book and shows me that if he is to look at the ac unit he has to change the fuses. The "Standard" quote for this "job" was over $180. Seriously? I could see $30 or $40 but $180? Give me a break. This company is in for the money alone and not for the good of their customers. There is plenty more to tell about his rudeness and trust me the strikes kept coming. DONT even CALL this company, its pure ripoff. more

Flame Furnace is reliable, dependable, and they do a good jo 9/9/2010

I have had Flame Furnace Company maintain my air conditioner and furnace, clean my air ducts, and replace my air conditioner and furnace. I am also on the gold plan where they come twice a year to check the air conditioner and furnace for performance, fix anything needed, and change filters. The technicians from Flame Furnace are always prompt, and they call ahead of time to let you know when they will arrive. Their service technicians are always presentable; they always wear uniforms. When they come inside they use surgical booties so that they don't track anything. When they are gone you would never know they were there" more

I have used them for 30 years for 95% of my new construction 9/2/2010

I have been using Flame Furnace since 1979. I am a residential builder, and I use them for all my new construction. There have been some exceptions, because of customer preference, but I would say that in those 30 years they have done 95% of my new construction. In terms of their service calls, I have used them in my own home when I have had trouble. I also have a commercial service contract with Flame for service twice a year in a commercial building. A different contractor had done the instillation in the building, but they didn't do a good job. Flame Furnace came, did some internal diagnosis, and fixed the problem. They took a bad job and made it better. Rich R. Russell Homes Inc. more

FLAME heating and cooling are crooks 7/5/2010

We called FLAME out to give us an estimate for a new hot water heater when ours started dumping hot water all over our basement floor. They came out and quoted us $1500 for a new one! That is over $1000 in labor fees... a new hotwater heater costs under $500. We went with another company who did a great job for ~$550 with disposal of the old one. FLAME is just looking for uninformed customers who will just sign anything when something goes wrong. They are nothing but highway robbers. Don't even call them unless you have money to throw away. Pros: none Cons: bunch of crooks more

UNRESPONSIVE EMERGENCY SERVICE 6/6/2010

We are "gold" cusotmers and called Flame for emergency service on our AC on a Sunday. It was 1:30 PM and the emergency line said they were available for service until 4 PM and someone would call us right back. We left them 2 messages and they never called us back. We were smart enough (having other poor customer service with them in the past) to also call DANBOISE- who had a dispatcher answering their phones and one hour later they were at out home to fix the problem for a VERY REASONABLE RATE!!!!! Don't bother to call FLAME- there are too many other good choices out there for your heating and cooling needs. We even paid an extra fee to be a "Gold" customer and we were still treated with poor customer service!! Pros: None Cons: Poor Service even to their "Gold" Customers more

Don't bother calling Flame - unless you want to burn thru your money!! 11/24/2008

I called Flame Heating and Cooling to inspect the furnance at my rental home. The service fee to come out and inspect it was $96. I was hoping that it could be repaired, but as I suspected it needed to be replaced. They quoted me $3950 for a new furnance. Wow! That was alot more than I was expecting. I told the guy that I would need to get another quote and he started going on and on about how great Flame is and that I would not get a better price with "quality" work somewhere else. He also tried selling me a service plan for $156 - this would save me 10% off the purchase of a new furnance. He also told me he would email me the quote, but he never did. Is that how a "quality" company works? Promising one thing, but not delivering? I got 2 other quotes (one was free and the other cost $65) and both of those quotes were much lower than Flames. I'm glad I shopped around because I got the same thing Flame quoted me for a savings of $1,456. Don't go with a "brand" name company when you can get a better, "quality" deal elsewhere. Pros: Nothing Cons: Too expensive, pushy salesman, didn't provide quote as promised. more

FLAME Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical did not begin as the largest Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer in the midwest. It has grown tremendously since its founding in 1949 by Robert Marowske. Mr. Marowske served on the board of The Children's Home of Detroit, the Lutheran Church Michigan District President's Advisory Council, and the advisory board of the Salvation Army in his lifetime. He knew that a small business can't grow without treating each and every customer with utmost respect, providing prompt service, and offering only the best in expert workmanship. In 2001, Robert Marowske passed the business on to his son Gary. Today, Flame Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical has over 80 employees and 50 trucks with 60 vehicles overall on the road. In 2011 Plumbing was added to the list of services offered. Flame now employs NATE certified HVAC technicians and Master and Journeyman electricians and Master and Journeyman plumbers. FLAME has been named a Bryant Medal of Excellence Winner five times as well as being selected as the National Contractor of the Year by Contracting Business Magazine.
