Made my 48 year old truck NEW again!!! 7/15/2011

I have a 1963 Chevy C20 pick up that had some rust problems that I was looking to get fixed before they got too far out of control. I had looked at having a few different shops do the work on the truck before Expert Car Care was recommended to me by a friend. I was hesitant about having the work done there because I live in Fort Lauderdale and their body shop in Oviedo was going to do the work. All of the other shops that I had checked out were local, and using a shop four hours away from my home seemed a little crazy. After speaking with the owner of the shop, James, and Manny the body and paint guy, all of my concerns were put to rest and I decided to have Expert do the work. My wife and I made a vacation weekend of it and each drove a vehicle to Orlando to drop off the truck. From there they handled everything very professionally. As the work progressed, they emailed pictures to me so I could see everything that was being done. This really pleased me as it made me feel as though the shop was local because I could see how things were progressing at any time I wished. It also created a pictorial log of the paint and body work that I have added to my restoration log. The work was completed in a timely manner and is beautiful. I get compliments on the truck every time I take it for a drive. James went way out of his way to get the truck to me after the work was completed. When James called me to let me know that the truck was ready to pick up, I let him know that I was not going to be able to make it up to Oviedo to pick it up for a week or so. James called me back in about an hour and asked me what I was doing later that evening. He put the truck on a trailer and delivered it to me. I am so happy with the work that was done and the personalized service that I received, that I am having Expert Car Care do restoration work on my International Scout as well. Thank you so much James, Manny, and everyone else at Expert who played a part in getting my truck looking good once again, and I am looking forward to seeing how nice my Scout turns out. more

Expert service, again and again... 9/28/2010

I was first introduced to Expert Car Care by way of a comic shop in Winter Park so I figured I'd try out another location. I love local business'. This location is bigger and very well kept, the office is a little cold but very comfortable. I got to do some work on my laptop at their wifi bar in the office which was cool. The place was pretty busy so I waited a bit but I was completely at home. John was informative of some of the recommended services and I left no doubts about returning for the great service to have some of them repaired. I'd like to note that they also do body work on site and they've got some sweet muscle cars in progress. Thanks to the guys at Expert Car Care. Unfortunately the other two locations are a little out of my way but I'm sure the service is the same. more

woulStopped in my dealership where i bought my car for a basic oil change.(the guy says they did a complementy inspection with the oil change)They told me i needed front brakes and rotors becasue they couldnt be turned, and that needed transmission flush, said fluid was dirty.. and ue to my mileage i was way over due on a differential service foer my rear end. it d me like 159.99 for the trans flush. and i was looking at 380-400 in brakes. told them i was running low on money. guy automatically turn into a prick walked away. took it in to expert car care off alafaya the next day, tryin to save some money and they told me 109.99 for a trans flsuh! and about 320.00 on brakes long story short i dropped my car off ()no appointment ..they call me up in like 45 mins and it was either a jon or tom and told me i ddint not need rotor they could be resurfaced? and said on the transmission flush he said he will not do based on my mileage because its never had a trrans flsuh and it could very easley damage my transmssion..so he recommened a service and not a flush so instead of flsuhin the system the drop the transmission pan change the trans filter(instead of trying to flush it out) with that they get to inspect the inner parts of your transmission? and you get a new gasket for the 159.99.. but they said the fluid was not "black" but he did say it did need to be changed becuase of the mileage i ened up paying likr 159.99 or something for the brakes and the resurfaced my "bad rotor" they also found something the dealer didnt nail in my tire which they plugged free of charge. good work, good customer service.they'll b in business for a long time. ended up paying Pros: They play it by the book. Cons: These guys CANNOT be on commision they acually care. more

BEST PLACE FOR AUTO REPAIR 2/22/2010

RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED VEHICLE AND HAD SOME MINOR PROBLEMS. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY KEPT IT FOR 2 WEEKS THE LAST TIME AND GUESS WHAT I STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUE. FINALLY, I DECIDED TO GET ANOTHER OPINION ON THE NOISE MY CAR WAS MAKING THAT REALLY DIDN'T EXIST I GUESS SO I TOOK IT TO EXPERT CAR CARE ALTHOUGH THEY WERE BUSY I DECIDED TO STAY AND WAS OFFERED A SHUTTLE SERVICE...WOW. AFTER EXPLAINING TO THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING THEY PROMISE ME THEY WOULD FIND THE PROBLEM, SKEPTICAL AND WITH A SMILE I SAID GO FOR IT AND THERE WAS NO CHARGE TO LOOK AT IT. WITHIN HALF AND HOUR OF MY CAR BEING IN THE SHOP THEY CALLED ME OUT AND SAID THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT THE NOISE I WAS HEARING DID EXIST AND IT WAS A LOOSE BOLT FOR ONE OF MY ENGINE MOUNTS. THEY TIGHTENED IT UP AND SEND ME ON MY WAY STILL AT NO CHARGE. I DEFINITELY WILL BE RETURNING FOR ANY VEHICLE REPAIR AND MAINTENCE I MAY HAVE TO DO ON MY CAR. I WAS VERY HAPPY AND PLEASE WITH THE SERVICE AND PEOPLE THERE. DID I MENTION THEY ALSO HAVE AUTO BODY AND COLLISION REPAIRS...NICE. Pros: EXPERT SERVICE AND GREAT PEOPLE Cons: NONE more

Best place I have ever been to! 2/21/2010

I am currently a student at UCF and I just moved down here at the beginning of last semester from Alabama. I noticed a few days ago that my car was overheating and I wasn’t sure why so I brought my car to Expert Car Care because my friend from class recommended them. I took it there with the attitude that I wasn’t going to let anyone over price me for anything and I was going to make sure that I can find out what was wrong with it and then price around to find the cheapest price to get my car fixed, whatever it was. So I walked in and told them that my car was over heating and I didn’t know why. They told me that they were going to do a pressure test with some dye and see if I have a leak or if it was something else. So they did the test and found out that I had a leak in a hose connecting to my radiator. They then told me that they wanted me to come out to my car so that I could see where the leak was coming from and see the other things that they noticed while my car was in there. I didn’t know when I brought it in that they were also going to complete a 50 point inspection on my whole car, but I am very grateful that they did, makes me feel like they actually care about my car. I was expecting to pay an arm and a leg to get that hose replaced or repaired but with the already great prices and the addition 10% off that I got for being a UCF student, I got the work done, and I kept my arm and my leg!! They had to order the part so it wouldn’t be finished until later that afternoon and I had class so I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, I didn’t want to miss class. Much to my surprise, they offered to drive me to UCF as part of their services. They have a shuttle service that comes free to help customers that don’t expect to be sitting in a repair shop all day. I have never known any repair shop to offer that anywhere! After everything was said and done I was VERY pleased with the service that was provided to me and was also very happy that I didn’t have to spend that much to get my car fixed. I know that from now on I will only bring my car to Expert Car Care because they really do make me feel like my car, and I, are truely cared for. Pros: Great people, offers shuttle, great prices Cons: None more

bad repairs and stolen item 2/2/2010

Misdiagnosed misfire as a bad coil and installed spark plug wires that didn't fit my car. After 2 days they called telling me they found out it was a broken spring in the head and it would take another 2 days to fix - now it's taken 4 trips back for fixes to their $1,100 repair. I picked the car up and immediately noticed a new static "ticking" noise coming from my radio that went up and down with engine RPM's. As a guy that worked installing car radios through college I immediately suspected spark plug wires that were improperly grounded. I popped the hood and was surprised to see my Ford wires were missing and had been replaced with some no-name off brand wire. I returned the next day and asked them to look into the problem. They told me there would be a $40 diagnostic fee for the electrical system. I told them that was unacceptable, as I'm only asking them to look into a problem that started after they made repairs. After talking with the manager they agreed to "rule out" the spark plug wires as the cause for no charge. After waiting for over two hours they pulled the car into the garage and checked it out in less than 10 minutes telling me the wires are fine and they didn't hear the ticking noise. I went to my car and was surprised the noise was gone. Unfortunately, in less than two blocks, the noise was back. I returned two days later and asked them to check again. After another 2hrs they again told me everything was fine and it was definitely not the wires, likely a bad alternator or bad ground on the battery. I decided to take a peek myself that weekend. In less than 5 minutes I found one wire just barely seated itself onto the coil and when I touched it, it turned the static on and off like a switch. Why couldn't these guys find this? I returned and showed the shop the problem, after much more debate than should have taken place and hours of waiting I got them to install a new set of wires. When the manager handed me the keys he said, "these don't fit great either, you probably will want to buy some better wires on your own." Long story short, I gave him a piece of my mind about secretly installing $20 no name wires that don't fit and then telling the owner to deal with it after a $1100 repair. To top it off, 6 months later, the head gasket they installed started leaking. Had I not been on the ball about the leak they could have easily ruined my entire engine. New head gaskets failing is very rare, just about the only cause is improper install in that the head bolts weren't torqued in the proper order but that's just an educated guess. To their credit they did install a new head gasket under warranty - but it did take them nearly a week to get it done. Wait, it gets better, I just realized they stole my umbrella - thanks a lot. Pros: None Cons: 4 returns to fix problems w/repairs and stolen umbrella more

probably one of the best 11/26/2009

Ok, I own a ford f150. Ever since i have owned it, non stop problems. If its not one thing it is the other, well I was refered to Expert by a couple of friends. I usually take it to the dealer because I don't trust any little mom and pop mechanic shop because they always lie and want a million dollars for the smallest job. The dealer is not much better but I get this sense of satisfaction that even though its a million dollars and im treated like garbage, with no disrespect, and that THEY are doing me a favor, I still take it there. So I took my truck to Expert to get it diagnosed. Long story short they said I needed about 1100 dollars worth of repair. Me being a business man I did my research to see if i can find better prices. Well I did, and i decided to take the estimate to Expert to see if they could price match well they not only met the price but beat it by 10%! The job was going to take all day so they offered me a ride to work and then picked me up.. now I dare anyone to find a business that will do that for their customers. At the end of the day I recieved my truck with perfect driving conditions. Expert is very generous and you get that feeling that your at a resort, anything you want when you want. Absolutely the best auto repair store. next week i'm coming back for tires and some body work... oh did I mention they have a liscensed body shop. Pros: best service in every aspect Cons: none at all, others are lying more

only place i trust 1/2/2009

I have been taking my car here for years, even though it's far from my home. It all started when I needed an emergency repair while leaving UCF campus. Someone recommended this place, and I'm glad they did. The manager is always super helpful about fitting me in, and the mechanics do a great job as well. They explain everything in detail, and never make me feel stupid, and their prices are fair. You can trust these guys!!! Pros: great service, good value, friendly service more

The Only Place I'll Use For My Car... 11/17/2008

I've been going to Expert Care Car for a couple years now so I thought I'd write a quick note about my experience there. I started going to the shop out of convenience when I was a UCF student (it's right down the street), but I keep going there now even though it's 45 minutes away from my house. As a female, I am always hesitant to trust mechanics or sales people when it comes to my cars. Any college-aged girl should know what I mean. I was pleasantly surprised by Expert - they took the time to explain everything to me without making me feel stupid. The people there understood that I was a college student and strapped for cash and they looked for ways to save me money - they even sent me back to the dealership for something that was still under warranty and it was fixed for free. (If they didn't tell me, I would have paid for them to fix it and never known the difference). Pros: Great customer service, high-quality work/technicians more

Finaly a place you can TRUST! 10/26/2008

I brought my 97 Legend into the same shop three different times for the same overheating problem and each time I was told there was a different problem. Well, two weeks and $900.00 later my car was still overheating. I am a full time UCF student and do not get any type of assistance from my parents so I pretty much need to make it on my own steam. I was telling one of my friends in class how frustrated I was about my car still not being fixed and he suggested I take it to Expert Car Care since that was where he had some body work and repair work done and he said they treated him great. So, I took his advise and stopped by. Not only did they find the problem in within a couple of hours the manager told me one of the parts I had replaced at the other shop was not working properly and that if it was replaced the car would run great and not overheat anymore. So I took his advise and told them to replace the part AGAIN. Well... sure enough... almost a month later my car has not overheated once and it seems to run better than it has in years. I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences i've ever had. To top it off Jorge helped me get some of money back from the other shop for the part that was replaced again. I will never bring my car anwhere else except for Expert Car Care for as long as I am in the Orlando area. Pros: Fast service, honest, helpful, student discounts! Cons: None more

Avoid this place! 10/9/2008

I brought my car in and asked them to replace a brittle belt for me. They charged me waaay too much ($400 for a belt is ridiculous) but I was already there and they offered me a ride home and back when the car was done so I said ok. They said they'd call when it was done (about 6 hours they said) and I didnt get a call all day so I called about 7pm (half an hour before close) and they said oh yeah your cars been ready sorry no one called but were leaving early so youll have to wait til tomorrow. so i went first thing the next morning to pick it up and they had just started! then when i finally got my car back it had oil spilled all over my front drivers seat and it turns out they replaced my belt with the wrong kind of belt and my car was squealing! they told me they guarantee their work so I took it back to get the correct belt and they refused saying they were too busy, so i asked to make an appointment for a day when they werent busy and they said theyd call and let me know and i received no call for 2 days so i called back and was hung up on!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! Pros: none Cons: service, price, value, everything! more

Last resort car repair 7/16/2008

I had my 1998 Ford Contour's timing belt replaced here. They fixed the timing belt but in the process the mechanics had torn the top gasket on my engine causing oil to spew out the back of it. Pretty scary and I was not confident that they would fix that properly. Not only that but they do not provide the inspections I am used to with my mechanic back home and when I took my car to another place to repair the gasket they told me that I needed a new serpentine belt. I have the belt still and was is in pretty bad shape. Would have been nice to show me other things that are needed with my car but in Orlando most mechanics just love to rake you over coals for the cost then toss you to the side. Pros: Location is great. Near UCF Cons: Can't rely on crappy service. more

College kid parent's dream 6/1/2008

I had problems with the brakes on my 2002 Mazda Protoge' and brought it to a chain competitor of Expert Car Care close to the university. They told me I needed complete front & rear brake overhauls and that my struts were bad causing this problem. They gave me an estimate of $1600.00. I could not believe I was going to have to call my dad to tell him he had to spend $1600.00 on my car. That night I was talking to my girlfriend about the nightmare I was about to encounter with my dad. Then she told me how she had a flat tire once and Expert Car Care came to her apartment complex and repaired the flat for her and didn't even charge her, because she was a regular customer. She highly recommended them to at least get a second opinion...So the next day when I got there, I was greeted with such enthusiasm that I felt comfortable right away. I asked them for a brake inspection, and they came back to me with an estimate that included a regular front brake service with rotors and a rear cleaning and adjusting of my rear brakes. Struts were recommended but they said they could wait a little longer before replacing them...giving me time to save for them. Total bill $309.00. I will never go anywhere else. While I was in the show room talking to other people, they all laughed at my story because they all had found Expert Car Care the same way. Pros: Friendly service you can trust Cons: None more

Please find another place to get your car fixed. This place over charges for absolutely everything. 4/21/2008

I have been to Expert Car Care before with not many problems. Yet my car was under full warranty then. I went in about a month ago for an oil change and they told me h the calipers were leaking and that if not fixed soon I could "be driving and the brakes would not work at all". Their price for changing front calipers, rotors, brake pads, and brake hoses $529. before taxes. I was told the labor was $179. and the rest was for parts. Went to AutoZone and got the calipers for $39.99 each, brake pads for $22..., couldn't get the hoses since they needed to be ordered and I already had an appointment at Expert Car Care, but they would have been $11.99 each. This was way lower than what Expert Car Care wanted for the parts. Go in today to get my car fixed and I tell them I brought my own parts. The person up front says that it would take 2.5 hours and the labor cost will be $205. I let them know that not even a month ago they told be it was $179 and he changes something on the computer and comes back with $176 but with tax is $188 and some change. I say okay and they begin on my car. Fourty minutes later they come and tell me my car is done. They still want me to pay for the 2 1/2 hours of labor eventhough it only took them 40 minutes. I let them know it only took 40 minutes and not 2 1/2 hours to complete the job. I would not mind paying the full hour rate of $80, but a job that only took 40 minutes to do, does not deserve 2 1/2 hours of payment. Imagine going to the gas station and them telling you it took 15 gallons to fill your gas tank but it only took 5 gallons, would you pay for the extra 10 gallons? The manager finally agreed to have me pay for the one hour instead of the 2 1/2 but was very upset that I made the challenge. This will be one place I will not ever go to again. Cons: Manager is very rude. more

Single women who need care car take note. Expert Care Care Service. 9/23/2007

I took my car into Expert Car Care on Alafaya by UCF on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. It needed the 30-50 mile maintainence tune-up, possible brake replacement, and an all over check up. While I was there the man who took charge of my car came in off and on to tell me what they were doing and/or what the condition of the car was. They ran it through every test, did the tune up and found that not just my front brakes were gone, but the back brakes were leaking brake fluid and needed to be fixed. In addition, the main belt that operates all of the mechanisms in the car was cracked and about to break. Being a single woman who was referred to this group by a trusted friend, I felt good about being there and having people work on my car as if I were family to them. I was very pleased at the performance of the car, and how smoothly it ran. It wasn?t shaking anymore at 70-75 Mph, and before the guys worked on it, the car shook a great deal at higher speeds. They did a tire rotation and wheel balance which also helped the operation of the car. When I asked questions, they did not hesitate to answer them. The manager, James, also came out to make sure I didn't need anything and let me know, had I needed a ride home, or to go shopping they would have been glad to take me there and pick me up as that is a service they provide. So, for any single women who are worried about where to take their car, this is the place and just tell them, Elizabeth sent you. Be sure though and get a rough estimate before they start the work. If you are like me with little to no experience in having these things done, this step will save you any surprise at payment time. Afterwards I did research and found their pricing to be a bit less than most places that do this type of work. And if you go to their web site: Expertcarcaregtx, you can download and print coupons for some of the work you are having done, thus saving you some money. more

great service!!! 6/30/2006

I brought my 99 Jetta to Expert Car Care. I am very grateful that I did. I was having issues with my air conditioning. They took the time to explain the problems with the air conditioning to me instead of just giving me a grand total. Their staff was very friendly and helpful. My air conditioning is very cold now (and we all know we need that in Florida). Thank you for saving me from the heat, expert car Care!!! Much appreciated!! I highly recommend this shop, i had a great experience. My friends are now bringing their cars in! Pros: Customer Service more

HONEST & GREAT SERVICE 5/30/2006

I brought my 2000 Jetta to a large chain store to check out an overheating problem. They told me I blew a gasket and would cost me 1500.00 to fix. I was a little uncomfortable and told my Professor at UCF. He recommended Expert Car Care because that is where he brings all his cars, and the University uses them also for campus cars. So I gave it a try. I told them the problem and what the other people said. They were nice enough to look at it the same day and then gave me an estimate of 69.00 to replace a thermostat!!! That was it!!! Needless to say, I don't bring my car anywhere else. Also used their bodyshop and got great work done there too. Best price in town for paint & body. Pros: Honest, Student Discount, Great Service more

Great Experience 5/22/2006

My car was cursed. No one could figure out what was wrong with it due to its complicated nature and rareness in the world. On my last attempt at getting a repair I brought it to Expert. The technicians were able to quickly diagnose a problem that THE DEALER couldn't even figure out. I was shocked. The price for repair was also about half of what the dealer would've charged for the same procedure. It was frickin awesome!!! It was done about 20 min after they thought it would be because of a parts delay (not their fault). 20 minutes is worth the wait in my opinion! lol The service manager... I think his name was John? he was excellent. Very professional. Pros: price, professionalism, skills Cons: slight parts dealy more

Worst CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER 3/22/2006

I took my car on sat 3/18/06 for an oil change. I dropped my car off at 10am, so the manager told me give us 1 1/2 hr, cause we have many works to do, I said fine, I left their little plaza and 3 1/2 hrs later came back to pick up my car, guess what? nothing, zip, nada, they did NOT do anything to my car after 3 hrs, and the MGRS excuse was """ oooo the person in charge left"""", and I was like so, If he left were not YOUUUU supposed to find someone who can do the other guys job? he was like ooo welll. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PLACE IN YOUR LIFE..... And as you guys can see this is the third BAD review about this company. Cons: Bad customer service, No organization more
