This restaurant is excellent. Salads are crisp and fresh and all the main courses we have tried have been very good. Service is consistently outstanding. Very family friendly. ...

Great Service, Great Food, What could be better? 5/29/2005

As a vegetarian I often find it hard to go out to eat because I have very few options at a lot of restaruantes but Ernestos is perfect! Their pasta can be made without meat, and you can order marinara instead of meat sauce. Not to mention their pizzas are beond belief good. Whether I order a pizza or pasta through take out or eat in the restaurant, it always makes a night better. I would highly recommend Ernestos to vegetarians and meat eaters alike because my meat eating friends say everything, especially the veal, is excellent. Its in a great location and the staff has always been friendly and the service prompt. Pros: Good Service, High Quality food more

Super italian food for a great price! 5/8/2005

For a place with great food for a great price, this restaurant has awesome service. The menu is pretty large and the food is always well prepared and pleasantly presented. For a great night out with friends or just my honey, this is my favorite place to go. I love the chairs hung on the walls "so there's always room for one more". Ernesto's is always a good time. more

Great Happy Hour 1/3/2005

They have a great happy hour. I really like the free pizza. One of my favorite pizzas in town. The manage is great. Make sure you go there if you're looking for good Italian food. Pros: free parking, friendly staff more

business owner 1/3/2005

I have had the opportunity to eat at some of the best places all over the world. Earnesto's is still the best for Italian and great service. Anne is the best. Schedule your next party or event there they treat you right. Pros: resonable price, good parking more

Ernesto's, truly traditional Italian 12/31/2004

I live in Salem, OR. I first ate at Ernestos in Bend, OR and was quite impressed. I've eaten at the one in Tigard, Beaverton several times. The true traditional Italian food is worth the drive. It's not Americanized Italian food like many Italian food chain restaurants. The veal marsala, scolopini is fantastic. The best I've ever eaten. The ministroni soup is most excellent. If you want to taste what Italians eat for themselves, go to Ernestos. You won't be disappointed. Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: , no fresh parmasson more

Good Experience 9/23/2004

Very comfortable friendly environment. I would not recommend the Veal Parmesan, the Veal Marsala is good, Lasagna good, but surprised to find orange cheese on/in it. Overall good experrience; next time I'll try pizza or calzones... Pros: Environment, Locations, Parking more

Finally! 9/13/2004

I've been looking for a business class Italian restaurant on the Westside for years, and I've finally got it now. Ernesto's has all the dishes I love (Chicken Picatta, Chicken Cacciatorre, et. al.) and pairs them with good service and a pleasant ambiance. Salads are crisp, soups rich and fresh, and the desserts are good, if monothematic (think cheesecakes). Not only can you take your associates and close friends here, but the booths in the back can also be quite romantic for more intimate occasions. All in all, Ernesto's delivers a high three stars for a value. Pros: Authenticity, Large portions, Attentive service Cons: , Open seating areas, Expensive drinks more

Fabulous! 8/26/2004

Beautiful and clean, it's a fabulous place! Great service, the food looks wonderful, tastes wonderful, with generous portions you get more than what you pay for! Worth every penny! If you want the best Italian food, Ernestos is your place! Pros: Great Flavor, Resonable Prices, Large Portions more

Very Nice 7/8/2004

Did the Mingo thing up the road, nice if you don't like Italian. Did Nona Emilia's (spelling probably not right) and okay if you want a lot of food with little flavor and quite a wait. I gave up on them. Olive Garden isn't as horrible as snooty people would claim. That other chain at Tanasbourne not great. If you want good real Italian food, get your butt to Ernesto's. I've taken many dates here and have never struck out. more

Ernesto's 7/5/2004

I am a 3rd generationa 100% Italian who also lived in San Francisco with it's great Italian restuarants. I was raised on Italian food and we have traveled Italy. With no disrespect to all the othe Italian restaurants in Portland, Ernesto's is our favorite. It more represents the true Italian food than the noveu cousine Americanised Italian. It is more what true Italians eat, very resonably price and with great service. If you want faux Italian try some of the trendy places but if you want something closer to what real Italian's eat---try Ernesto's. more

FIRST IMPRESSIONS 7/23/2003

My girlfriend and I have eaten here on one occasion and would recommend it as a romantic place for couples to go. The food is good and it has it's own seperate identity from the Olive Garden. The prices are a little high, but the atmosphere and quality of service more than makes up for the extra money spent. Pros: Good food, Friendly staff, Romantic Cons: A bit expensive, No free pop refills more

nice but overpriced? 6/19/2003

Seems to me this place it overpriced. The pasta dishes were nice, but not exceptional... and seemed awefully expensive. The pre-dinner bread was very good and the service very friendly. Pros: uncrowded Cons: expensive more

Outstanding 6/3/2003

I have never had better Italian Food and the service was wonderful. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a taste for great pasta and the pizza will blow you away. Pros: Good Parking, prompt service, great potions more

Great food, great atmosphere 9/8/2002

I've been eating at Ernesto's since 1998, right after they came over to their current location. My friends and I have eaten welll over one hundred times, and I've yet to have a bad experience there. Each new person I take there loves it as much as I do. Their pastas are fabulous, although you can't go wrong with any of their menu items. It's unfortunate that another individual had a bad experience with their pizza, because we've ordered almost every pizza they offer and have NEVER had anything but great, gourmet pizza. more

I keep going back. 7/7/2002

I have been going to Ernesto's for about a year now and the generous portions of good food and good service keep me going back. Pros: atmosphere, generous portions, good food more

3 Generation Family Owned Italian Restaurant

Owner Message
  • Mike Ceccanti, owner of Ernesto's Italian Restaurant, grew up in the family restaurant business. His grandfather, Ernesto Ceccanti, emigrated to the U.S. in 1919 from the Tuscany and opened the Monte Carlo restaurant in Portland in 1927. By age 7 Mike was making raviolis in his grandfather's kitchen and has continued the family traditions of providing casual dining with a healthy dose of Old World charm. Building on his family's traditional Italian recipes, Mike has added his own creations such as Seafood Fettucini & Pasta Classico. While the offerings have evolved a little over time, you can count on finding generous portions of homemade Italian food in a comfortable environment. Be sure not to miss our specialty soups! With a full bar, banquet rooms, delicious buffet lunch, a kid's menu, and catering you are sure to find something for everyone here at Ernesto's Italian Restaurant.
