First of all, I hope nobody is stupid enough to believe the glowing reviews on here, which were written by management. People don't use language like ""they understand my budget and car concerns"" unless it's being written by the tool who wants hide the real attitude at work. The manager I spoke to this morning gave me the most laughable and ridiculous reason for not honoring a coupon for a free tire rotation, telling me that the coupon IMPLIED that I had to get the service in conjunction with an oil change. When I pointed out that NOWHERE on the coupon was such a fairy tale written, he insisted that that's WHAT IT MEANS even if it didn't say that anywhere . He said, ""Yeah, it's pretty CUT AND DRIED"", clearly not understanding what that phrase means. Hey Terry, why don't you grow a pair and just tell the truth: ""Sorry homes, I ain't honoring that coupon cuz business is GOOD. I'm in West U and I got housewives bringing in Mercedes, BMWs and Lexus SUVs every hour, Beat it bro, and yeah, I saw that you're a veteran by your license plates, and I couldn't care less."" I'd respect you more if you just said it like a man, instead of making up some BS on the spot about how the coupon doesn't really mean what it means. more

Unethical, Dishonest 12/6/2011

These people are unethical. \r \r My wife had some sort of promotion for several oil changes with Meinke. I forget exactly the terms of the deal, but it was a good deal. The first time she took her car there for an oil change, the man called her and said that front and back brakes needed replacing and that it would soon be ""metal on metal."" My wife trusts her Toyota dealership, so she took her car there to get the work done. Afterwards Toyota called and said she did not require any brakework, that her brake pads were fine. \r \r The second time she took her car there, they called back and said the rear brake pads needed replacing. We were skeptical, but because we are both very careful and some time had elapsed between the two oil changes, we took her car into the Toyota dealership for them to see whether we required the work. They called this morning and said that our brakes are fine. Specifically, they said there were 11 mm of brake pad left, and that they recommend changing them out at 3 mm. \r \r The only conclusion that can be reached from this series of dealings is that the Meineke people are using their oil change special to unethically convince customers, in this case a woman, that they should buy services they really don't need. \r \r If you thought for a second that maybe it was just a difference of opinions between mechanics, ask yourself this: Don't the toyota mechanics have the same interest in selling their services as the Meineke mechanics? Everybody likes to make money. \r \r That this happened two times in a row is proof positive that the people at this Meineke location are not behaving honestly. more

Service and Price - Best in Town !! 3/8/2011

I don't know why Meineke on Kirby isn't packed everyday !! To fix the Cat converter on my SUV , I was given a quote of approx 780.00 (parts-including several sensors etc and labor) and a time frame of getting my car back.. at least a day... Luckily, I drove right down the street to this little unassuming Meineke shop. Not only did Terry, the service manager, put the car right up on the lift to take a look at what needed to be done and actually showed me what was involved. The parts and labor (and the o2 sensor tested perfect ) he quoted were right on.. 300.00 parts and labor PLUS during the time I brought it in , Meineke had a promo for 20.00 Visa gift card with service above 200.00. It took them all of 45 minutes to complete and Terry himself gave my car a GOOD test run to ensure everything was a go.. and it STILL is running GREAT !! I will be back for sure !! From the previous reviews, it looks like having new management has really made a difference ! AWESOME JOB !!! more

Service to car and customer are excellent. 4/14/2010

I have been going to this particular Meineke for a while and while I understand before some folks had problems, there definitely aren't any now. Terry (the current manager) helped me find the best deal in town for new tires on my car, always gets my oil changed quickly even when they're swamped, and makes sure I only fix things on my car when it is absolutely needed. They seem to understand my budget and car concerns. He is a great guy and they have done right by me so far. I would definitely advise others to utilize their services! Hard to trust people out there, especially as a female who knows little about cars - these gentlemen have been better than other places I've taken my vehicle. Pros: Terry (Manager) knows his stuff and aims to to please. more

Just Plain Honest Folks 6/30/2009

I personally own five (5) vehicles currently with model years of 1970, 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2006. So, needless to say I am always having to have car repairs done on my "fleet" (lol). After patronizing a vast number of other repair shops around Houston over the past 10+ years, I now almost exclusively use Meineke on Kirby for all my work. I have been a customer there for over four (4) years now, and it is only for repairs that they do not perform (e.g. tire repair, state inspections, etc.) or more simple jobs that I decide to perform myself that I do not use them. Mykhaylo is a very honest and customer-service oriented shop manager and I have been treated with nothing but respect by him and his staff each time I have been in to have one of my cars worked on. Historically, on each visit, Mykhaylo (or his assistant, Carlos) will troubleshoot the problem(s) with my vehicle and will then personally show and patiently explain the problem to me. Knowing quite a bit about cars and car repairs, I know when I am being b.s.'d and so far I have been in agreement with their diagnosis each and every time. In addition, if there is a least-cost solution, it will be presented to me, along with whatever downside there might be to not doing a more exhaustive system rebuild...it is then up to me as to whether to take a chance with a simple fix (knowing I may have to return later for more exhaustive repairs) or proceed with the full-blown system overhaul at that point in time. I appreciate having such options, as well as having the final say-so about what I have or don't have done to my car. On those instances where I am unsure as to what "route" to choose, I ask for Mykhalo's opinion and trust it to be in my best interest. Like most people I presume, I don't normally go to the time/trouble of posting reviews on companys which perform good work. However, in this instance I specifically wanted to make a point of voicing my own personal satisfaction with the quality of work and the professional treatment I have received at this Meineke location and I will continue to use them until proven otherwise. Pros: Customer Service more

Do NOT go to Meineke on Kirby 5/5/2009

I am not that pleased with the Meineke at the Kirby location. I was referred to this location after my jeep began to overheat. I went in for a flush and $592.47 later my jeep is still not fixed. Mykhalo and David informed me that I needed to replace the upper hose, lower hose, fan clutch. They asked for a good number so they could call me, and I never received a phone call. Both days I left my jeep I had assume it was ready for pick up. The upper hose they tried to replace was the incorrect hose. The anti-freeze and water splattered all under my hood because of the new hose they replaced. Mykhalo then re-attached my old hose after I paid for all parts plus the expensive labor. After I left my jeep overheated on the way home and throughout the weekend. I returned on Monday and David assured me they would fix the problem and the hose has been ordered. On Saturday, Mykhalo informed me that parts being ordered can be delivered from across town in 50 minutes, but the part he ordered would be delivered by Wednesday. I do not understand why after I paid close to $600 that my jeep was still not fixed. He then later told me that it was the head gasket. So I assume more money. After I told him to please refund me for the part I paid that was not put in, he said he would give me 3 oil changes. Why would I continue doing business with a place that could not fix my car on the first try? \r \r Sadly both Mykhalo and David are very nice, but the business side is shady. I usually let things slide, but the amount I was charged to still have my jeep not diagnosed correctly the first time is unacceptable. This was my first time to Meineke and it will be my last, and you can be assured I will inform people of the shady business I experienced.\r Cons: Shady business, expensive charge and car still NOT FIXED. more
