Unethical, Dishonest 12/6/2011

These people are unethical. \r \r My wife had some sort of promotion for several oil changes with Meinke. I forget exactly the terms of the deal, but it was a good deal. The first time she took her car there for an oil change, the man called her and said that front and back brakes needed replacing and that it would soon be ""metal on metal."" My wife trusts her Toyota dealership, so she took her car there to get the work done. Afterwards Toyota called and said she did not require any brakework, that her brake pads were fine. \r \r The second time she took her car there, they called back and said the rear brake pads needed replacing. We were skeptical, but because we are both very careful and some time had elapsed between the two oil changes, we took her car into the Toyota dealership for them to see whether we required the work. They called this morning and said that our brakes are fine. Specifically, they said there were 11 mm of brake pad left, and that they recommend changing them out at 3 mm. \r \r The only conclusion that can be reached from this series of dealings is that the Meineke people are using their oil change special to unethically convince customers, in this case a woman, that they should buy services they really don't need. \r \r If you thought for a second that maybe it was just a difference of opinions between mechanics, ask yourself this: Don't the toyota mechanics have the same interest in selling their services as the Meineke mechanics? Everybody likes to make money. \r \r That this happened two times in a row is proof positive that the people at this Meineke location are not behaving honestly. more
