Wanted to try this place for some time now and finally decided to try it last week. The food was excellent, the restraunt is very clean and for the area and atmosphere really not ...

Disappointing! 5/22/2010

Our waiter arrived at the table and took our drink order. Half the drinks arrived right away, the others a little later. Red flag, this guy does not know how to serve a table of six simultaneously. I shrugged it off, thinking he was just a little slow getting organized. Wrong again, he never got anything to the table at one time. We sat there for thirty minutes waiting for six bowls of soup. Now I know it does not take that long to plate soup and it wasn't very busy. Finally I walked out to find the waiter and tell him we were really getting frustrated with the lack of service. He said he had just been notified that the soup was ready. In about 5 more minutes in came two servers with 4 bowls of soup and a salad. It was 5 more minutes before the last bowl of soup arrived. We all tried it and it was less than lukewarm. The plates were cleared one at a time as people finished so the last person eating felt like he was holding up the show. That was me with the salad so I just motioned the waiter to take it so I did not hold up everyone's dinner. About 10 minutes later the process was repeated with the main course. Four of them arrived at one time, the other two had to wait for the next elevator or something. The food was all cold and very lack luster. I got the ribs because the waiter kept touting them. My dog will enjoy them today. They were cold, congealed, flavorful at some time in the past I am sure. We ordered a wine, they only had one half bottle, we ordered another wine, they did not have it. We asked to talk to a wine steward to help with a choice. We were told there was no wine steward. We picked another bottle. The waiter said it was one of the most popular cabernets. We tried it, it was okay. In the middle of the meal, a woman walked up to our table and asked how we liked the wine. She went on to say that is was a new wine for them and she wondered if we liked it? Why had the waiter recommended it? I got up two more times to go find the waiter. As before they cleared plates as people finished. This time my husband was the last, eating his meal while everyone else had already had their plates removed and in fact my doggy box had already been placed on the table. That was the promptest service we got. I won't bore you with the rest of the details. We will not be returning! Pros: Pretty restaurant, great menu Cons: Waitstaff, cold food so who knows if it is good more

A Favorite for Sure!! 2/20/2010

IF only 1 thing is on a menu that I don't like then it must be a great restaurant! Wonderful rib-eye...I would get the rib-eye over the prime rib!! I've always wanted to try the prime rib (bc everything else is so awesome) but I cannot get away from my favorites! All the fish dishes are great! The tuna and rib eye---and of course the WinE!! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Specials Cons: Maytag Blue chez chips>>yuck! more

Definitely my favorite place 1/24/2010

Not sure what all the complaints are about, we've been to this Jaspers over a dozen times and NEVER had a bad meal. I always get their filet and baked potatoe, my husband has had their peach pork tenderloin, BBQ ribs and their salmon. His favorite is the pork tenderloin ... and he's not a pork fan. Their martinis are the best!!! This quickly became our favorite place to eat! Too bad they had to do away with the complimentary valet parking, it made it easy to make reservations for 7pm on a saturday and not worry about parking at Market Street. Pros: atmosphere, service, food, martinis Cons: a little pricey more

Great Food Unprofessional Waitstaff 12/21/2009

Wanted to try this place for some time now and finally decided to try it last week. The food was excellent, the restraunt is very clean and for the area and atmosphere really not as pricey as rumored. The problem started when my wife went to the restrooms to freshen up. She was forced to listen to what she thought was a distrssed customer arguing with some guy named EJ. My wife being church going woman was very imbarassed to described the language she endured to me. Her real amazement came when the girl stormed out of the stall revealing herself as part of the waitstaff. She did not bother to wash her hands but with a filthy mouth like that what good would it really do. I liked the restraunt but I doubt I'll gamble going back. Pros: Nice Atmosphere Cons: Bad Experiance with Waitress more

Not That Great of a Deal 7/31/2009

I had a similar dish at Zoe's in Houston. 2 shiskabobs shrimp $10.95...excellent(9 out of 10 on taste)... Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: overpriced more

Food is great, patio is romantic at night! 6/17/2009

I've been to Jasper's a few times. I love their brunch! Try the crabcake benedict with a mimosa! Pros: Location, Patio, Food Cons: Can be pricey more

Overpriced and terrible 12/15/2008

December 13,2008- Extremely Disappointing-Prime Rib 16 oz. Pros: good ambience Cons: Too high $ for what you receive. more

Worst Prime Rib in my life!!!! 12/7/2008

Our seating for our reservation was about 30 minutes late but we had a nice private room that more then made up for our wait. We were anticipating a delicious dinner knowing that their web site said that they served prime cuts of beef. I asked the waiter if they still served Allen Brothers steaks here like the Plano restaurant. The waiter told me they quit serving Allen Brothers steaks after having problems with them. That should have warned me about my upcoming meal. The wait staff took very good care of us but the food was absolutely horrible. My wife's ordered their award winning baby back ribs but they were served warm, not hot, and there was so much spice in the sauce that her lips burned when she ate the ribs. I ordered a 16 OZ rotisserie prime rib and was anticipating one of the best prime ribs of my life. I guess my expectations where too high because when my prime rib was served I took one bite and it was barely warm. I sent the prime rib back and when it returned it was covered with at least a cup of some salty beef sauce that covered the prime rib and was swimming all over my plate. My prime rib was not recognizable and the taste was horrible. To be exact, this was the worst steakhouse meal I have had in my life. I did not eat my prime rib and my wife who did not eat her baby back ribs took one taste of my prime rib and did not want any of that either. The Yukon gold baked potato was also just warm and besides that it was also the smallest baked potato I have ever seen in my life. After the dinner we ordered Irish Coffees but they were out of whipped cream but gave us the drinks anyway. Irish coffee is not Irish coffee without whipped cream. Our bill was over $1,500 for inedible food. This was really disappointing as there is a Jaspers in Plano and had our meal here been good we would have loved to take friends to the Plano restaurant. I can assure you that I will never eat here again and I will tell everyone I know about this terrible experience. Pros: can't think of one Cons: overpriced terrible food more

If you dont know then you are truely missing out!! 8/25/2008

What a wonderful place. I walked in and was greeted by two well dressed friendly hostesses. They sat My friend and I down where we had requested with no wait. Our server (Sheryl) was top notch, she was well informed, pleasent, and accomadating. Since it was our first time in she went over some of her favorites on the menu, by the time she was done we wanted to try everthing. We decided on the Maytag blue cheese chips, (A must even for the no blue lovers) Ribs (of the Gods), and the Salmon. Everything came out very tasty, hot, and timely. When we finished our entrees we were too full to eat any thing else. Sheryl suggested that we drink our dessert in form of a triple chocolate martini. (OMG!!!! two plz!!!!) This place is great for any one who wants great food in a upscale comfortable setting, or is just in need of a little slice of heaven in a martini glass. ;-) Pros: Valet, food, service, Cons: none i'm in love more

Favorite Restaurant in Austin too! 8/21/2008

I was thrilled when I was visiting my brother in Spring Texas that there is Jasper's in The Woodlands. We have one in Austin and it is my new favorite restaurant. We started with the Ahi Sashimi, it was great, so we got another order. For dinner this time I tried the Texas Peach Barbecued Pork Tenderloin WOW. it was excellent and cooked perfectly at medium. My wife had the Salmon and my brother had the chicken. It was all great. Pros: great food, service and wine more

excellent 8/17/2008

Great hang out place. loved the blue cheese potato chips, rich and richer...I love the atmosphere. there's not any place like this in Plano. Also, the Prime Rib was juicy and perfect. (i hate it when prime rib is overcooked and an ugly gray color) Their meat was perfect. Also, loved the cookie sandwich for dessert. Will go back soon. Pros: design, location, food Cons: crowed more

Pass 6/26/2008

OK I had heard what a great restaurant this was, and had even seen its sister location in Dallas voted as ""best bbq ribs in the US"" on food network. What a disappointment! There was nothing remarkable except the bill ($450 for four). My party had prime rib, ribs, steak, and scallops. The only one that even got a C was the prime rib, but that is hard to screw up. The wine list was really just average. The appetisers were hardly touched at my table. The wait staff was eager, but unknowledable. This place must be coasting on its reputation becasue the food is just not good. It is easily the worst food in the Market Square line-up. Great place for outdoor drinks though. Pros: Nice outdoor bar Cons: Food is bad more

I Just Didn't Love It 4/9/2008

This restaurant is incredibly beautiful. The bar and patio are great, the martinis are fantastic. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. I had a bacon cheeseburger that was huge and all the condiments came on the side. Interesting, but at McDonald's they put the ketchup on for me and I spend about $9 less. One of the other people I was with had the prime rib, which would have been a better choice. For the 4 of us, and we didn't drink alcohol, 3 various cheese burgers and a prime rib came out to over $100 after all was said and done. Pros: Great Bar Cons: Poor value for the price when it comes to food more

Great customer service, BBQ Ribs was excellent, Interior Decor Very Nice 3/26/2008

Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. He made good recommendations. The Slow cooked BBQ ribs was very good, however my peach pork tenderloin was a little dry. The crab cakes were ok but nothing special. I liked the decor and the layout of the room was very good well done and was condusive to have private conversations. Other than that very good experience overall. more

So not worth it!!!!!! 2/16/2008

Save your money for some place worth it. I took my husband for Valentines dinner, worst mistake ever. I ordered my meal medium well to well done asking not to see any pink. They brought it to be as pink as ever the waitress took it back and asked to be cooked more, well more was charcol. The edges were so burnt they flaked right off. Once again they took it back and did it better, but by then and a good 20 minutes or so later I was just over it. I was ready to leave. My husband asked me to give it a try so I did but my night was ruined. Manager offered a return meal compimentary for following day. But we are not interested. This place came recommended, but I would recommend not going. So not worth it. more

Not a Fan 2/14/2008

Went to Jasper's for Valentine's Day and sat at the bar, since we didn't have reservations. Had to wait at the bar for seats to become available. We thought the special menu for Valentine's only applied to outside seating but when we asked for the full menu, like the reception desk had suggested, we were only given the holiday menu. Service at the bar was poor, I have had more attentive serivce at Denny's. We felt roped in and ripped off as the Barmaid proceeded to steer us away from what we wanted and instead we ended up spending far more than we wanted. The food was fair, not impressive. The door to the outside kept being left open which was not comfortable and we had to keep asking for it to be closed. We also had to keep asking for beverages to be refilled after considerable effort to get the bar staff's attention. Money is better spent elsewhere for better taste, service and environment. Pros: in The Woodlands Cons: Price, Value, Food, Service more

exceeded my expectations 6/29/2007

My co-workers and I were in town from Houston and went to Jasper's on a Thursday night after a long day of work. Jasper's is located in the center of an ersatz town square that makes you feel as though you just stumbled onto the movie set of the Truman Show. As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I looked at the stylish decor, saw the good-looking suburban crowd gathering at the bar, and thought to myself ""Uh oh: I'm in a gussied up Chili's. Hotel food, here we come"" I'm happy to say that I was wrong, and that Jasper's exceeded my expectations in almost every way. We ate calamari that was tender, not chewy, and was served with the perfect amount of sauce (smoky soy sauce with citrus) It was delicious! Among the entrees we ordered was a flat iron steak that was seasoned perfectly and was served with spinach that was allowed to be spinach (not covered with heavy sauce or wilted beyond recognition). The ribs were coveted by everyone at the table and were served with this ridiculously good potato concoction that tasted like a bakedpotatosaladfries. Can't describe it. The only critique we had was that the temperature of many of the proteins was off. The salmon, which was requested pink, was fully cooked (though not overcooked), and the ribeye, which was requested slightly pink, was bright red. Interestingly, I ordered the flat iron and asked that the grill station prepare it as they thought best. The knowledgeable server said it would come medium; it came medium rare, but I think I preferred it medium rare anyway, so no harm, no foul. Ultimately, we all were so pleased by the food that we were still talking about it the next day. Pros: Flavor combinations are fantastic! Cons: I live in Houston more

Ambience 11/11/2006

Great atmosphere, great bar and patio area. The food is just ok. The crab cakes have too little crab meat. Pros: Bar, Atmosphere, Patio Area Cons: Mediocre food more

After being recommended...a disappointment! 1/25/2006

Many of our Woodland's neighbors suggested we try this restaurant so off we went. We did not want the 1 1/2 hour wait so sat a the bar until a nearby bar table opened up. The bar was great - service good and martinis excellent. The food, however, was a disappointment. My husband ordered the $37 bone in rib steak which was terrible. I ordered the $17 trout which was fair. I think for the price there are much better restaurants in the Woodlands area - i.e. Perry's, Flemings, Kirby's etc. Pros: atmosphere, free valet parking, bar Cons: food, price more
