Best

It has always been a challenge to find a great brunch in Raleigh. I finally found it today. The food was wonderful and service was good. Maybe all of the poor reviews helped, not...

Worst

This was my first experience at Vin and most likely my last. I was with a party of 6 and had reservations for 8:30 pm on Saturday, 8/2/08. We arrived a few minutes early to grab a...

GHASTLY 4/19/2005

Horrible place. Insanely expensive. LOUD. Horrible service - unfriendly, actually belligerent. This place has nothing to offer Pros: glenwood? Cons: expensive, loud, poor service more

Inventive menu 8/30/2003

I've been to Vin twice, and I thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The wine list is great (the best I can find in Raleigh at a more casual restaurant--I love Sancerre and you can't find it at many restaurants), and the food is very tasty and inventive. The dishes I have tried primarily had an Asian flair, but the food is definately an integration of Asian, Italian, French, and even Latin cuisines--very fun! The restaurant is small and can get loud and crowded, but the food and wine is well worth the visit. Pros: creative food, great wine Cons: small and loud more

Delicious 7/18/2003

The tenderloin was wonderful! I have been to Vin twice and I was very pleased with both visits. The only negative thing I could say is that it was slightly noisy inside. You can get away from this by sitting outside. The wine selection was great. I found the service to be very good and I would definitely return. more

Poor Service Ruins Great Meal 6/22/2003

Service was dreadful, and as a former waitress (6+years), I know good service. Slow and unresponsive. My brunch selection was an item I always order wherever I find it, but I didn't care for the preparation; it was definitely less than satisfactory. I sent it back and requested another item (eggs benedict), which was absolutely perfect. The server brought my bill with the first item I'd sent had back AND the replacement meal. When I questioned him, he said there really wasn't anything wrong with the first meal, and they wouldn't take it off the bill just because I didn't ""like"" it. I didn't make a fuss; after fuming for a bit, I agreed to pay for both, but the server brought back a revised bill with the first item removed. The food was great, but the experience was ruined by the service and I will not go back. Pros: Good Food, Good Parking, Atmosphere Cons: Service, Service, A bit pricey more

Closed their doors late 2008! 5/18/2003

Great wine list at various price points. Expand your knowledge of wines with the 1.5 oz. or 3 oz. pours. I love getting to try two, three, or four wines in the course of an evening.\r Innovative dishes. Love the risottos. Some great soups or broths. Good fish entrees. I have to hand it to Ashley, the chef. Pros: patio seating, relaxed bar seating, extensive wine list Cons: fills up on weekends, limited # of entrees more

horrible service 5/9/2003

I went to Vin with my family one evening and received horrible service. We opted to sit out on the patio and ordered a couple of bottles of wine. Our waitress brought the bottles of wine and that was the last time we saw her. In fact we watched her drive off from the restaurant. No one ever come out to check on us and we sat there for an hour unattended. When we went to the door to get the bill the gentleman inside prevented us from entering and handed the bill through the door. Maybe it was an off night, nonetheless, I will never go back. more

All grown up 3/20/2003

Vin has come so far- it's always been an exquisite atmosphere in which to enjoy their extensive wine-by-the-glass list, but since the current chef (Ashley Christiansen) took over the menu has been outstanding. There's something for whatever mood you're in- be it a multicourse dinner with friends or a seat at the bar with a few glasses of wine and some appetizers or small plates. The staff manages to be friendly and attentive as well as polished. Vin has definitely come a long way, and it's a destination for us almost every week. (oh and try the panna cotta...) Pros: Wine list, Patio,, Atmosphere, Ecelectic menu more

Positively Lovely! 3/9/2003

My fiance and I decided to stray from our usual Sunday Brunch plans to try something new. Our visit to Vin was the perfectly pleasant dining experience that I wish we could have every time we eat out. The service was professional, but friendly (not annoyingly over-enthusiastic), and the food was clearly fresh, not prepared the night before. We can't wait to take our friends and family there for dinner and to sample what appears to be a fantastic wine selection. Pros: Service, Ambience, Outdoor seating more

Good food...good wine 2/26/2003

Trendy dining with excellent food and wine. The service was wonderful and the staff knowledgeable. Be sure to sample the cheese and meat plates. They also have some wonderful tea selections. Cons: Noisy more

Bad Experience, Will Not Return 2/20/2003

I visited on Valentines Evening for a 5:30PM reservation. They were NOT ready to serve, 5 minutes to get a wait person, another 5 to get water, while employees were in and out of the exit doors on a cold evening. Very uncomfortable. We were one of three couples at that time and were seated in temporary tables and folding chairs. Timing was horrible between courses, waiting as long as 10 minutes. Check this...no wine, 3 cocktails and the bill was over $150. 18% gratuity added to bill. Absolutely, not worth it. Heard others saying same. Pros: Tasteful food Cons: very expensive, very small portions, long waits more

Incredible meal 2/18/2003

We had never eaten at Vin before but tried it for Valentine's Day. We were disappointed that nobody informed us the menu was fixed when we made reservations. Yet the meal was incredible and we had a fabulous evening. They just need to set the lighting to a more romantic mood and get rid of the flourescent lighting. Pros: Incredible food, Good service Cons: Lighting not romantic more

MAGNIFEEK 1/18/2003

GREAT FOOD COOKED TO PERFECTION, SERVICE OUTSTANDONG,WINE LIST TO BEHOLD. Pros: PRESENTATION, FOOD QUALITY more

sunday standard 8/12/2002

I've had brunch at Vin 4 times now, and it's been fantastic every single visit. The menu is imaginative without being intimidating, and it's actually a beautiful space to enjoy you're Sunday afternoon. more

tasty place 7/30/2002

Service is always great, food is fresh and innovative, atmosphere is relaxing. Wines are pricey, but it's nice to be able to sample several different wines with the various serving sizes Pros: good service, good food, good wine Cons: a little pricey more

my review 7/3/2002

an unpretentious wine bar- finally! Though the wine list is certainly the main attraction, the food is not bad. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable without being condescending. Pros: knowledgeable staff, not crowded, casual Cons: a little pricey, low on decor more
