Ok, This company was a little on the rude side, and a little unprofessional, but that being said I ordered a transmission for my daughters Eclipse, it was a hard one to find!! The...

OMG!! What a SCAM!! Sell me a motor missing the intake, plenum, flywheel, exhaust manifold, claiming it's got 44k on it. The timing belt was already replaced, the engine has another 12k in 17months with me, under a 3yr/36month warranty I paid $395 more for ($1890 TOTAL!!) for a 4 cly 2.0 VW engine that now burns 2.5 qts of oil in less than 2k miles! The warranty place in Utah called E-Last won't do anything, claiming my oil change receipts were not printed electronically, and as such, they will not do anything at all. Never mind I got the warranty terms 60 days AFTER i bought the engine and warranty, so never had the chance to review or disagree with them. The engine probably has 3-4x the miles on it, as a 2.0 doesn't burn that much oil with only 56k on it!!! more

The best way to get the word out there about their business practices is to join (which is what I am doing) every blog that caters to enthusiasts for Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc. Sites like Diesel Bombers, 4WD, Dodge owners , Ford owners etc. Google them and you would be surprised at how many are out there. Once you join post your experience, let every mechanic you know about ETW, Southwest Engines on their attitude, their quality, their warranties. Then if everyone calls them whenever they think of it to complain, it will tie up their phone lines eventually! Fire with Fire..... more

John Thompson< Manager, is rude, defensive, hears things that were never said, has no patience nor for that matter does not have any customer service skills. I do not how they stay in business. I would like to reach the Customer Service Manager, to file a complaint. Mr Allen Simmons you have a big problem on your hands. more

This company is a scam!!!! They intentionally sent me the wrong engine and then became belligerant when I wanted to return it. I say intentional because I asked them twice to visually verify the engine before sending it to me. They claim they did it, but sent the wrong engine anyway. \r \r DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY OR SWENGINES WHICH IS THE OTHER NAME THEY OPERATE UNDER. more

Warning; The review by tyronej552 is a 12/17/2011

Warning; The review by tyronej552 is a fake. No one in their right mind would order a motor from Engine and Transmission World after reading all the negative reviews and complaints. tyronej552 is associated with EATW; most likely the owner. Believe me, if you give EATW a chance they will lube you up and mount you like a belgium stud; you'll get the screwing of your life. If there is a hell on earth it is Engine and Transmission World; located at 2100 College Ave Suite A in Cudahy, Wi. 53110. Owners: Mark Dobrenko and Allen Simmons. These two crooks have been ripping off people for several decades at the same location; when their business reputation gets around they change the name; previous names: Midwest Auto Recycling, SW Engines and others. One thing you could do though is call their 888 344 8044 number over and over and tell them what jerks they are and/or hang up on them all day long. Other than that STAY AWAT FROM THESE CROOKS !!! My story; I needed a replacement motor for my son's 2001 Land Rover. Being an idiot I trusted them and bought what they said was a beautiful, clean low mile fully test and ready to install used motor. When it arrived it did look good from the outside; it was wrapped in plastic and it looked clean so I accepted the delivery(big mistake). When I unwrapped I found that they had just sprayed silver paint over all the dirt and grease to make it look like a clean aluminum block. It got worse after that; when I pulled off the valve covers I about threw up; the whole valve train was caked with solidified sludge and dirt; totally disgusting and this motor could have never been tested as they claimed. I pulled the heads and all the cylinder were rusted and filled with transmission fluid in a lame attempt cover up the rust; the motor had also been submerged in water as the crank was also rusted. A total basket case. When I complained Dale at the customer service desk said ""oh just put some oil in it; it will run fine. He said if I didn't like that I would have to pay to ship it back and also be charged $500 restocking fee. I fought it with VISA but lost; I still don't understand that one. Anyway, if I ever catch up with these bastards they're gonna wish.... well I can't say the rest for legal reasons, but they will be sorry. Well, I hope you are smart enough to take a hint; Engine and Transmission World is bad news. BTW; they are under investigation by the Wi. USDOJ consumer complaints and tax fraud divisions; so I am hoping they will be in prison some day. BASTARDS !!! more

I almost didn't buy from this company 11/30/2011

I almost didn't buy from this company after reading some of these. After talking with them, and working out a deal, I opted to give them a shot. My engine arrived within a week and a half, and looked brand new. Now my car runs like new too. Give these guys a chance, I'm glad I did! more

DON'T JUST WALK AWAY...RUN!!!! 10/18/2011

I have never seen a company treat people so poorly. I'm convinced they are scamming us out of our $$$. We purchased a part for $1395, but the company said it was declined. According to our bank, they attempted the transaction twice. The first transaction was approved but the second was declined (who can afford to pay that kind of money twice?) Meanwhile, the company is trying to sell the part while we get this figured out. Allen, (the owner?) told me that I'll be embarrassed in the morning when the bank releases the funds and that if we had our banking affairs in order we would not be having this issue. Please share this with everyone - people need to be warned. more

Beware of these guys!!! Buy from someone else if you can! 9/30/2011

I would rate them lower if I could. I would NOT recommend these guys for anything! We waited over 3 weeks for delivery of a Chrysler 2.7 engine that was supposed to be about a week out. After we get the ""33k"" mile engine we find it has a broken valve cover and numerous missing parts from the engine. So, after swapping over what parts we could and having to purchase additional gaskets that we hadn't anticipated, we get the engine installed. After initial fluid fill we see coolant leaking from beind the timing cover which is where the water pump is. I contacted their customer service and warranty dept. After a very short discussion they basically told me I should have replaced all the gaskets before install and the water pump. I explained to them that the water pump is a 6.7 hour job and there should be no reason to replace it on a 33,000 mile engine. They basically told me too bad, you should have replaced it before hand. Isn't that the reason why we paid top dollar for a ""low mileage engine""? We ended up putting some coolant stop leak in the vehicle and it seemed to have stopped. About 3 weeks later the car came back in to have us check for fluid leaks. Now it is again leaking coolant from the water pump again, and leaking lots of oil from the timing cover. I sent them an e mail requesting help on this engine and their response has been very negative and mocking my ASE certified Master tech and his abilities. These people are far from professional and should not be in business. Beware of them, all they will do is take a bunch of your money and send you an unverified mileage engine. I seriously doubt that this engine is in fact the low mileage 33,000 mile engine it should have been. more

Mid-City Auto Salvage, Midcity Auto Salvage, Mid west auto Salvage, Engine and transmission world DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE. We ordered an engine from this company on 6/29 Engines and Transmission World. We paid them $3,390, by ACH Check. So we canceled the order (2 days later). And asked for a refund, and we were told by Joe in Customer Service that it would take 30 days. The engine had not shipped, and there was no Damage to Engine & Transmission World. When we canceled on 7/1/2011, they told us 30 days for refund. We called back after 30 days on 8/3/2011 and we were by Joe that it would take 60 days for refund. We called on 8/31 and was told by Joe it would come the week of 9/5. No CHECK. We called on 9/9 and talked to Allen, and was told it was sent UPS and we would get it any day. We asked for a tracking number and he did not have it, but would email it to us. NOTHING. We sent a complaint to BBB of Wisonsin on 9/11. On 9/12 I called and spoke to Joe again at 10:30am and was told that he would get me a tracking number. I had not received it by 1:00 so I called him and he told me that book keeping had not actually sent the check and he was going to make sure they send it out. On Tuesday 9/13 my husband tried to call about the refund and whomever answered the phone said you more

GOOD ENGINE FOR THE PRICE 8/19/2011

I BOUGHT AN ENGINE FOR MY 2006 F350. I HAD HESITATIONS ON BUYING WHEN I READ THEIR REVIEWS BUT FIGURED THAT MOST PEOPLE ONLY WROTE COMPLAINTS AND POSITIVE FEEDBACK IS THE LAST THING ON A PERSONS MIND. DALE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPED ME GET THE CORRECT PART USING MY VIN NUMBER WHICH IS WHY I BOUGHT THE PART FROM HIM RATHER THAN ALL THE RUDE JUNK YARDS I CALLED WHO TREATED ME LIKE AN IDIOT WHEN I CALLED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I NEEDED. THE ENGINE TOOK TEN DAYS TO ARRIVE IN OREGON WHICH WAS LONGER THAN I EXPECTED BUT I WAS VERY PLEASED WHEN IT ARRIVED - IT WAS CLEAN AND VERY WELL PACKAGED. TRUCK IS DONE NOW AND I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND AND USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. - RYAN more

Complete A**holes! 8/3/2011

I called these guys to inquire about a motor I saw on their site. After maybe 3-4 minutes on the phone the sales guy (Joe) said his supervisor was signaling him to get off the phone and HE HUNG UP ON ME! I was very interested in the motor so I called back. This time I got supervisor (Allan). He was more rude than Joe. Also, they will not give you vin or carfax info until after you buy. They're obviously hiding something. No doubt the motor they send you is not likely to be the motor you saw on the site. I did not buy from them so I can't be SURE they are frauds. But all of their dealings point STRONGLY in that direction. more

DONT MESS WITH THESE GUYS. SAVE YOUR MONEY 7/20/2011

I bought and engine from these guys about 8 months ago and after weeks of asking for a status, tracking number and car fax I was about to drive to Wisconsin.\r \r I finally recieved a car fax and it showed a different engine than what I ordered. During this timeframe I fortunately read the post on this company and realized they were scum bags. I told him I did not want the engine and had my mechanic prepered to turn it away when shipped.\r This Jackass was adamant it was a better engine than I ordred and he did not care what I thought I was going to accept it or pay the shipping cost.\r I was lucky to have paid with a credit card and immediately notified them of what was going on and they cancelled the payment.\r My mechanic turned it away and these guys paid their own shipping.\r \r DONT MESS WITH THESE GUYS AND IF YOU HAVE AN ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION YOU CANT GET ANSWERS ON HOPEFULLY YOU PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD AND NOTIFY THEM NOW TO CANCEL.\r \r THERE IS NOTHING GOOD THAT COMES FROM THESE GUYS!!!!!! YOU WILL GET BURNED more

HUGE SCAM THEY USE SEVERAL ALIAS... 7/9/2011

Same just happened to me. I had no way to know what type of company they where because they are starting to use alias's. qualityusedtransmission. com (among several others) with engineandtransmissionworld's phone number posted to it. It starts at that sight then you fill out a form unknowingly on engineandtrasmissionworld. com because it clicks over to it. I figured it out after I made payment when I got the strange confirmation emails saying engineandtransmissionworld. com. Classic deception used by fraudulent company's trying to hide there bad name. Interestingly enough I am as of right now taking a 5 week summer course for college on this very thing (social media) first chapter ""deception used on the internet"". Anyway, I tried to cancel after investigating further finding several peculiar things about the company and the transaction. Of course refused to refund the entire amount claiming a 25% fee for handling and restocking. The new scam is to wait several days before sending the non-working transmission/engine then hopefully the customer finds out their track record (no good), and then charge customers money for doing nothing. They also illegally post ASE certification (quality tested), and BBB (better business bureau) on the qualityusedtransmissions. com at the bottom of the web page. Its an elaborate scam. I just don't understand why they would continue to do it. Their assets will be froze and taken even if transferred to another persons name at anytime. Definitely go to prison for several federal charges most likely for life (including any employee who aids in the scam right down to packaging). So if you got an attorney in mind to help the several hundreds of people these fellas scammed let me know. We should contact all the people scammed with a great attorney who can sue them for what ever we can get. Another thing I noticed on their web site was the economic hard times and helping people through it. More like aid more financial hardship thus continuing economic down fall. Not to mention the people who relied on getting that part for their vehicle to get back and forth from working, and picking up the kids. Some may have likely lost their job or jobs due to this scam of theirs ""engine and transmission world"" continuing the force into economic hardship, and eventually through several hundred people being scammed (economic depression). We need to get these guys and take them down fast!!! On a personal note ""ALLEN"" FBI is going to be bringing you a neat little present from me. That power ranger that you was going to call. That's right you called it they heard it, and I got you one. Your gonna need it at night when bubba gets in your cell while your grabbing your ankles. I got the entire conversation recorded (several), and putting together a you tube video with them. more
