I've heard the way to distinguish locals from 'tourists' in a N.O. restaurant, is that locals wear jackets. Well, I chose to not pack one for the hot/humid forecast and because we were not planning to dine at one of the stuffier establishments (any Brennan's/Gallatoire's/Arnaud's).
Theres 3 separate DRs. (1) Main DR adjacent to the cozy piano bar, (2) Upstairs DR, and (3) loud 'sunroom' for the tourists, accessible only via the kitchen.
I was dressed professionally (though sans jacket), and we were seated in #3 initially, but requested to be moved because of a shaky table. We later heard that four couples had moved from that same table that day. What the @#$!?!
Reseated upstairs, it was a different experience. Food, service are top-notch.
FYI. Emeril's namesake restaurant provides a more modern menu, but was booked due to numerous Tulane/Loyola graduation dinners, (as was Commander's Palace). So reserve early!
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: Rear DR for dinner
