Wicked Awesome Austin Salon 5/18/2011

I recently relocated to Austin and had no idea where to get my hair done. I came across Electra Beauty Lounge and I can't relay to you how happy I am that I did. My stylist Bo Paschall was amazing. He gave me a beautiful new color and managed to make my hair into a fashionable masterpiece. I recommend this Salon to anyone who wants to feel like a Rock Star! The experience was relaxing and invigorating. The staff is extremely conscientious and kind. Best hair-experience ever! more

Super Cool Austin Salon 4/13/2011

I tried out Electra Beauty Lounge for the first time and my stylist Lauren did an amazing job. She did an all over color and then added a few packets of highlights to help hide my greys when their growing back in! The salon is cool and colorful and all the gals there were very friendly and welcoming. I had a great experience and I'm definitely going back! more

Bo knows hair! 4/11/2011

More importantly, he gets my hair and believe me that is saying A LOT. I had very fine hair that was borderline thinning...but ever since Bo got a hold of my hair it's been nothing short of a miracle. We are talking healthy hair full of volume, volume, volume! Bo also is great at finding the right cut for you. I am very hair-illiterate, but Bo was able to figure out what I was trying to say and gave me a style that fits my face and personality perfectly. And color...well don't get me started! I get at least one compliment a day on my hair color. The rest of the staff at Electra are super friendly and make you feel right at home. more

Electra = Awesome! 4/7/2011

I ended up finally going to Electra for the first time after they offered a Groupon. I'd seen them over there, in that cute little green strip on South Lamar, and this was all the push that I needed. I love them!! They are so personable and friendly, from the phone call to the door to the chair. The staff was all great. Courtney is the girl for me, and I'd highly recommend her. We were able to figure out what works best for me as far as color and cut with no problem. I also like the feel of the place, which is kind of a girly, punk-rock, fifties style beauty shop. It's just my style, it's so comfortable and cute in there, and Courtney is damn talented. The shop for me, and it should be for you too!! more

Angela Rocks! 2/14/2011

Angela has been cutting my hair for the past 4 years. and has always doen an amazing job. She also does fantastic color. I followed her to Electra and am glad I did. I enjoy the people and vibe at Electra, but most of all, I am SO happy to have found a hair stylist that knows what she's doing. I'd highly recommend Angela! more

Angela is my hero 2/2/2011

After having a pretty terrible haircut in north texas in July, I was hesitant to get my hair done after moving to Austin in August. Then Groupon popped up like a sign from God. I read some reviews and bought my groupon. This may have been the best decision I've made since my move out here! Angela took my mousy straggly hair and turned it into honey gold locks that my boyfriend can't get enough of! She listened to what I wanted and was funny and really great at what she does! For the first time in my almost 3 years as a Texan I am not afraid to get my hair cut! Go see Angela - she will save your hair life! more

Great Experience 1/27/2011

It's way down on South Lamar, but made the trip after purchasing the Groupon. Was not disappointed. I'm a new mom with an identity crisis who's not feeling that great about herself -- the staff, particularly both Laurens (yes, there are two Laurens and two Courtneys), were incredibly friendly, gracious and warm. Lauren (the stylist) listened to and took her time with me. Also, that type of environment can be intimidating, but they made me feel right at home. I'm very happy with my cut and color and will definitely be going back! more

I have been going to Electra for about a year now and I love love love this salon! Abby Mitchum cut my hair last month and I was very happy with it. I have recommended this salon to three of my friends and they were all very pleased with their experience at Electra! more

Austins Best new Stylist 7/20/2010

Go see Carmen! It is bittersweet that I write this review as she has moved from Nashville to Austin. But man, are y'all lucky. She has been doing my hair for the last 7 years!! Short, long, layered, straight, highlights, panels, all over color--you name it she can do it. more

Carmen cut my hair in Nashville for over 8 years. Believe me when I say she will be sorely missed by a legion of fans! She is the BEST there is with both cut and color. So good in fact that I keep trying to figure out ways to go to Texas for her to cut my hair! Pros: Color, Cut, Cons: None!!! more

I have never had a stylist know so much about what my hair needed and the right color for my skin tone. Carmen Allison was honest about what I should and shouldn't do with my hair. Lauren: great highlights, lots of compliments! 5/29/2010

Lauren highlighted my hair about a month ago. I was doing blond highlights for the first time in years and was very nervous about the decision. Lauren basically made all the decisions regarding the highlights, with my approval of course, including how blond to go and placement choices. Lauren completed my highlights in great time and I was very excited with how they turned out. When I left Electra, my hair looked awesome. Since then, I have had several customers at my job, a restaurant, ask me who did my highlights. Lauren's styling techniques must be impressive to all walks of life since all the women have ranged from (guessing) 20 to 55, edgy to conservative, etc. you get the idea! more

I have been going to Electra Beauty Lounge for a couple of years....after my personal hairstylist moved out of town, she referred me over to Abby Mitchum. Fortunately I knew Abby personally, and was excited to transition over to her as a client. Abby is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about hair. I have flip flopped between blonde and brunnette colored hair over the years and Abby has done an EXCELLENT job at making knowledgeable decisions on colors and tones all w/ minimal damage to my hair! :) I love her and love our conversations. Pros: friendly, great location, complimentary beverages Cons: None that I can think of more

Abby made my hair look amazing both times I've visited her! She is intuitive, skilled and experienced, and I loved how she took time to understand what I wanted. She was meticulous in getting right down to the roots and giving me a well-blended, natural look by choosing the right color and using many foils. She also gave me an awesome head massage when she washed my hair - major bonus points!! Pros: super comfortable chairs/basins for hairwash Cons: nothing notable more

Abby is amazing 12/5/2009

I'm new to Austin and I had a great salon back in my old town, so I was nervous about having to switch. I can't believe I scored so well on my first try. I've been back twice now and both times I've loved the results. My stylist is Abby. She's a total magician with color - she fixed my messed-up multi-dyed hair, made it look great and feel really healthy. She also has a great eye for picking out colors. I like my hair just a shade darker than natural, and it's really easy to go TOO dark, it's a very fine line. The shade she suggested was exactly what I wanted and looks amazing. If you have short hair, you should also give Abby a try - I wear my hair really short (like pixie cut) and I've had some stylists who give me 'boy cuts' or awkward shapes. Abby gave me a funky, messy, feminine pixie cut that is super easy to style and was exactly what I had in mind. If I move out of Austin I might seriously consider coming back just for her services. :) Pros: Comfortable and friendly salon, great stylists Cons: On the expensive side, but worth it more

Jen? has been my stylist for over 8 years now. I drive from Dallas to Austin to get my hair done. My Big D friends dog because I make the long drive for just a ""hair cut"", but she's worth the drive. I've had 2 hair-affairs in the last 8 years that I regretted. I will never again. This woman is awesome at her craft & just awesome to be around. I totally trust my locks in her hand. MWAH! Pros: A wig that makes you feel fabulous everytime. Cons: nada more
