Electra Beauty Lounge located on South Lamar is where everyone who wants to look HOT & have a blast should get their hair cut! My absolute favorite hairstylist is *KARA*!!!! I get compliments ALL the time on my hair! I have referred 4 or 5 friends there (men & women) and they have all been VERY happy with her talent. She is an ARTIST : ) Plus she has EXCELLENT customer service skills. She was born for this. Kara always remembers my favorite wine and we have tons of laughs and fun together too! She will not let you leave until your hair is perfect! And sometimes makeup to!! She will double check and re-do over and over until both are satisfied! Oh and you better book early if you want to get in w/ her because she's always booked!!!! Pros: Thumbs up! Wonderful Service and great Austin atmosphere : ) Cons: Nope! more

Electra is an awesome salon with loads of character and excellent service. I would follow Emma to the ends of the earth. The woman has a gift. She can look at your hair and your face shape and give you a style that looks beyond fabulous. As a victim of naturally curly hair, Emma helped me embrace my fate and gave me a cut that I love and that draws compliments on a daily basis. I can't recommend Electra and Emma highly enough. I absolutely LOVE Electra Beauty Lounge and all of the wonderful folks there. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. I personally use Kara and she is amazing. She really takes her time and never rushes the haircut.....she is a perfectionist! I just went in this past Wednesday and she turned me from a red-head to a blonde and it looks wonderful. My husband and kids love it!!! I have never received compliments on my hairstyle with other salons. Ever since I started using Kara I get a compliment at least once a day by random people. They always ask me where I get my haircut and of course I tell them "" Kara at Electra Beauty Lounge"". Kara....I would totally divorce my husand for you!!!! J/K :-) Pros: Go there yourself and you will see more Pro's than I could possibly list. Cons: Are you crazy...the word Con and Electra Beauty Lounge are like oil & water....they just don't mix. more

I've recently moved to Austin and have been looking for a new salon. I've been in a hair funk for a long time so I was really excited that I was in Austin because I knew there had to be an 'Austin' salon. I drive past Electra everyday to and from work and actually paid attention a couple of weeks ago and figured out it was a salon. I finally had time to go this weekend and was not disappointed at the 'Austin-ness'. It's so cute and funky, it's perfect. Kara was wonderful. I gave her complete reign over what to do with my hair and it's such a wonderful change from what I had before!! All the people there were wonderful. Their energy and positivity is exactly what you want to find in a great salon! more

I actually followed Kara to Electra from another salon; BIG improvement. The atmosphere at Electra is fun and friendly, yet completely professional without being pretentious. The environment there is always welcoming and relaxing and as soon as you walk in the door you automatically feel like you're among friends. I've been going to Kara for over a year now, and as long as she stays in Austin, I will NEVER have to look for another stylist! (After you find perfection, there's no reason to look anywhere else). Kara is probably the only stylist I've ever had who actually gets more excited about my hair than I do!! She is a gifted artist and technician who never fails to perform her magic on my hair; I always walk out of the salon looking and feeling like a million bucks. In fact, I've already booked with her for 2009! Kara is aptly named - she really 'Kares' about her clients! If you're looking for a sassy and classy haircut, and color that's out of this world, then Electra is where you go, and Kara is who you see! Pros: Great salon! Cons: I've been in Austin for 25 years and I'm just NOW discovering this place! more

I went to Electra on a recommendation from a friend, and I was very pleased with the atmosphere, as well as my haircut and color. The salon itself has a unique feel: funky colors, young talented staff. And I was offered something to drink when I walked in, which is always a treat. As far as the hair is concerned: I had never had my hair colored so I was a bit nervous. But my stylist, Dora, was very attentive to exactly what I wanted. She got the color right, and kept my hair the exact length that I wanted.... it looks great! I am very excited about my new haircut, and I recommend Electra to anyone who needs a haircut in Austin. more

I just visited my stylist at Electra, and she spiced up my usual highlights and haircut with a few awesome pink hair extensions! What a great idea to change up my look and have some fun for Halloween! The process was quick and easy, and I'm getting compliments everywhere I go. Thanks Electra! You girls and guys rock! I've been a client of Electra for a little over a year and I just have to say that my visits to the salon are always a great pick me up after a long stressful day at work... Its a laidback atmosphere with friendly people. I travel alot and sometimes have to ask for a late appointments and such... The front desk staff is always great and willing to try and accommodate for me. These factors are key reasons why I really appretiate these smaller salons. Pros: Great People Great Hair! more
