Electra is a very comfortable, friendly salon. I want to especially recommend BARBARA for hiar cutting/styling. She's just very talented at what she does, and will give anyone a great cut. Have sent two friends to her and they were both very happy. Go in with confidence to have her cut or style your hair! more

I followed Barbara from her previous salon because she is such a talented and caring individual. Never have I been to a stylist who takes such time and care for my needs. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Pros: best hair stylist around more

Barbara ROCKS! 4/24/2009

I took pictures in of my ideal style for Barbara and I was surprised by her enthusiasm to get my new look going. She is a great gal, but most importantly, she's a stylist that GETS IT! My new do ended up looking like the examples I showed her. It's been a while since I've left a salon absolutely amped about my new cut / style, but Barbara changed that! You can tell that she stays on top of being well-educated about hair styles, hair care and products just by talking to her. I had an all-around great experience! Pros: Great experience from start to finish. Cons: My hair is sorry I didn't go sooner! more

I love this place! 4/22/2009

I have been going to Jene for a few years now and have never been disappointed! Invariably, I receive compliments on my hair for weeks after I have seen her. She has always worked wonders styling my curly hair and recently she colored it for the first time. I LOVE IT! Did I mention I love it? Pros: great shampoo/massage more

I have lived in Austin for almost 2 yrs. I've been to a few salons here, but I was never 100% happy. I'd heard a couple of co-workers talking about Electra Beauty Lounge and was driving by the other day so I decided to check if anyone was available to take me. It was my lucky day! Jesse Vain took me to his chair and we got to work. It is the best cut I have ever had! I absolutely love it! My long rockin' layers have never looked so rad. I highly recommend Electra and DEFINITELY Jesse Vain. more

Love it. 4/16/2009

Seen Abby three or four times in the last year and just love her. I get great haircuts, good recommendations, fun color, and she gives a mean head massage with shampoo. I'm always offered water, wine, or beer, and love the random musical selections. Pros: Good hours, rates and stylists Cons: none come to mind more

Go to Jen? at Electra! I have trusted but one person in my entire life to color my hair and I went to her for 10 years then moved to Austin and a friend of mine suggested I go to her sister Jen? at Electra. BEST decision I could have made! She gave me the best cut and color job I have ever had. Jesse Vain is the ""Best in the Biz"" 4/15/2009

This guy is a bonafide Rock Star hair dresser. He understands the subtlety of style that escapes so many of the people who use this profession as a last ditch effort at a real job. Jesse has always loved hair and its possibilities until he finally suffered in poverty perfecting his craft, to earn his license until he became the certified bonafide hair artist he is today. He will pay attention to the texture of your hair and the way that it grows so that when you go home and wash it, it will still look salon great! This is rare. Jene has been my hair girl for many years now and even though I live in LA now, I still see Jene everytime I'm back in Austin. Plus, I've always gotten the best shampoo, which less face it, is half the reason I get my hair done in the first place! Pros: Chill, laid-back environment. They use great product! more

Great salon, Ask for Jen? 4/15/2009

I've been going to Jene for nearly 10 years and have followed her to Electra. The salon is neatly kept, always full of live and GREAT music. It all starts with a great shampoo and head massage (delish) and just gets better from there. I've had many stylists in my life and Jene is by far the best. She's always spot-on with the style I want and always has creative ideas for color and cut. I'm NEVER unhappy when I leave there. Best part is I can drink a beer while I get my hair cut! Go see Jene! Great environment- great music and I get compliments on my hair all of the time- when asked where I get my hair done, I have to tell them they need to drive to Austin and see Jene ! I followed Barbara from her previous salon here and am very happy and pleased with her move. Barbara is a hair genius! I have extremely straight, fine hair (aka very boring) and for years now she has been making my hair look anything but ordinary. I am always happy with my cut and the great thing is that she makes it manageable for every day. She also does excellent color - I get so many compliments on my highlights! Barbara is inventive and accomodating to my needs. I highly recommend checking Barbara out at Electra! You won't be disappointed. Pros: Great location & vibe more

I walked in to Electra on a whim one afternoon. I was so annoyed with my triangle shaped curls that I was willing to cut it all off and start over. Luckily, Kara was working that day and was willing to take some new clients. Kara has an incredible knack for understanding what her client wants and then taking their hair far beyond those expectations. I have been fighting my curly hair for years, trying everything to get it to do anything, really. Kara has given me the best haircut of my life, and I don't ever plan to go to anyone else. She gave me a fierce curly cut that added body and lift and sassiness to my hair. She gave me hair that matched my personality, and for that I am truly grateful! Pros: Best haircut I have ever had! Jene=FABULOUS! 3/20/2009

I LOVE this salon! From the moment you walk in you feel comfortable and everyone there is friendly and down to earth. They have that great South Austin funky vibe without being pretentious. I have been going to Jene for years now and get complimented on my hair color and style constantly so I am always refering people to her. The staff makes you feel right at home and the head massages during shampoo's are so relaxing! I can walk in there for my appointment after a long day at work and Jene works her magic and I leave looking and feeling fabulous! I highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants to look and feel amazing! They ROCK! Pros: Friendly atmosphere, skilled stylists, all around amazing! Cons: None! more

Barbara is the best! 3/19/2009

Barbara is new to Electra Beauty Lounge (I followed her from her old salon) and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is friendly and professional, and is very well educated about her field. I have the world's straightest hair and she cuts it better than anyone I've ever met. I just got a very dramatic cut with her today, and I brought it photos. She listened to what I wanted and did exactly that. She also is willing to teach you about your hair without making you feel ignorant about haircare!!! Electra Beauty Lounge is a funky little studio nestled in the south lamar area. The atmosphere is very easygoing, and it is encompasses all the aspects of Austin perfectly, it is cool, local, and eclectic. I absolutely love the haircut that Barbara gives me, and she does both a great long, and short cut. She also does beautiful coloring, and the connection she makes with each of her clients is fantastic. She will also do a free touch-up trim in between appointments! The products they use are great and my hair has never looked healthier! Pros: Barbara is great, does a wide range of services, cut, color, wax, etc. Cons: south lamar is far for me, but it is worth the drive! more

I repeat what many have already said in their reviews - I get lots of compliments about my haircut and my haircolor- from co-workers and random people! Kara is such a sweetheart ! She listens to what I want with my hair - really listens ! sometimes she has some suggestions and they are spot-on! I always leave with a positive attitude...and great-looking hair. Kara at Electra Beauty Lounge does great hair! I've never had so many people ask me for my stylist's phone number as I have since I've been going to her. I get a cut and partial highlight every 6 weeks and she always does a great job. She's really creative and always has a good style in mind, even when I have no idea what to do with my hair. She's very knowledgeable about styles and products. I really had no style as far as my hair went before Kara started fixing it (it always ended up in a ponytail), but now I love it and get lots of compliments. Everyone at Electra Beauty Lounge is friendly and their prices are competitive. I definitely recommend it! more
