I'm new to Austin and I had a great salon back in my old town, so I was nervous about having to switch. I can't believe I scored so well on my first try. I've been back twice now and both times I've loved the results.
My stylist is Abby. She's a total magician with color - she fixed my messed-up multi-dyed hair, made it look great and feel really healthy. She also has a great eye for picking out colors. I like my hair just a shade darker than natural, and it's really easy to go TOO dark, it's a very fine line. The shade she suggested was exactly what I wanted and looks amazing.
If you have short hair, you should also give Abby a try - I wear my hair really short (like pixie cut) and I've had some stylists who give me 'boy cuts' or awkward shapes. Abby gave me a funky, messy, feminine pixie cut that is super easy to style and was exactly what I had in mind. If I move out of Austin I might seriously consider coming back just for her services. :)
Pros: Comfortable and friendly salon, great stylists
Cons: On the expensive side, but worth it
