Do you know that when you leave a dog/cat overnight at a veterinarian’s office to be observed after surgery that they are often not observed at all. My dog was ALL alone for 11.5 hours after surgery in a kennel and without food, being let out to go to the bathroom or any followup pain medication! The next morning it was discovered that he had developed a high fever. How long did he have that fever? The vet admitted that he had overheated. A few hours later he DIED. He was 4 years old! How can you leave a pet with NO supervision after a surgery when complications are likely to arise? We waited an hour in the lobby for my sweet boy. The whole time I was telling my daughter that he would come out any minute. Imagine my shock when we were pulled into a room and told that he had died about a half hour ago. He died while we were waiting for him in the lobby. My daughter was horrified and crying (so was I). She will probably remember this the rest of her life. This was not the way that you want to tell your 4 year old that she lost her best friend. \r \r Taking my dog to El Paso was one of the biggest mistakes of my entire life. \r \r Please do not send your animals to El Paso Animal Clinic in Derby, KS. Also, I am begging you to make sure that whoever does care for your pets not leave them alone when they are ill. more

I love El Paso Animal Clinic and Dr. Herod! Not only are they one of the more caring and knowledgeable staff they are extremely reasonable. I would recommend the vet to anyone in the area. LOVE them and the care they provide my critters! more

I cannot give El Paso a SINGLE star and feel good about it. I have worked EXTENSIVELY with animals for many years, so when a dear friend of mine said it ""was time"" to euthanize her very elderly dog, I was glad to be there as moral support. What I witnessed at El Paso was HORRIFYING. I have had experience in euthanasia situations, and told my friend to expect a calm, peaceful good bye. She got anything but. The first dose of medication did nothing for Sissy (my friend's dog), and the second did not either. After the poor dog was screaming in pain, it was determined that the veterinary staff had COMPLETELY MISSED HER VEIN. They tried another vein, unsuccessfully, and then decided to put a needle directly into her heart. THEY MISSED. I cannot begin to describe to you how disgusting this process was. What should have been a simple, peaceful act of kindness was turned into a session of pain and torture, during which my friend was robbed of the most precious moments of saying good bye, and Sissy was robbed of any dignity she had left. In addition to this review, I have authored a letter to the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. I urge you to find professional pet care somewhere else, and can only hope that this poor excuse for a clinic will not survive. more

I've been taking my furkids to El Paso Animal Clinic, and Dr. Herod in particular, for many years. Sugar gliders, dogs, ferrets, and even hamsters... you name it and Dr. H has treated it for me! He has the compassion for animals that makes him an amazing vet, as well as the ability to relate to a distraught owner without making them feel as though they're overreacting. There is no other vet clinic that I would trust my precious babies to! more

The idea that these vets are too expensive is absurd. There rates are far more affordable than most. The care they give is excellent. They are kind and take good care of the animals they treat. I have been a customer for nearly eight years. As for the boarding comment, when animals are in close proximity they run the risk of infection just as humans do, and likely you would have been upset had they not treated. more

They are very quick to diagnose things and charge you a lot of money when the dog doesn't seem to need it. I would go somewhere else. more

I have been taking our pets there for 25 years. They are the BEST! All of the doctors their are wonderfully caring and knowledgeable. Pros: knowledgeable, kind, professional, committed to care. more

The vets here have always been gentle and caring. I have used them for about 4 yrs now and do not have one complaint. I would recommend them to anyone who loves their pets! Pros: Very caring and inexpensive Cons: I have to drive a little ways more

Not only did my cat get fleas from this office but the staff was extremely rude and getting her spayed cost almost double what I was quoted once I got to the register. Her scar looks like her surgery was done with a kitchen knife and I now have the pleasure of having to treat my other pets for fleas and fog my home. Please do not take your pets there for their safety. more

All the vets at this clinic seem to be very kind and although no one has all the answers just as medical doctors do not either....they seem to know a lot and be able to show concern for pets and their owners. I think all vet care is fairly expensive but compared to people care...it is not. Sometimes when people have many animals,' when it rains it pours' so to speak. This clinic is a very busy clinic and i am surprised they can keep their sanity in there! I know the doctors here try to make things affordable and fair price. Check with most other clinics and you'll find that they are cheaper. more

Dr. Harrod at Elpaso is an incredible vet! He is caring of not only whatever pet you bring in, but also concious of the human mom or dad as well. I have never had him try to suck money out of me and if I can't afford something at the time he tries to find another alternative or lets me pay in installments. They care about the animals there! I have checked around on other prices and they are the least expensive around. When I was trying to spay my female Siberian I called no fewer than 10-20 vets in the phone book. I have used ElPaso for over 15 years but thought I would check prices. They were a fraction of the price of some other vets. Sometimes they were only 25% of the cost of another place. They try to keep things reasonable if they can. Now, one of the other vets does sometimes try to give every treatment possible before seeing if one thing at a time will work and that can add up, but all you have to do is tell them up front what you expect and that you need to be budget concious more

I love El Paso Animal Clinic. I have taken all my animals there, from Rats to Dogs and Cats. They are very caring, friendly and helpful. I've checked around and their prices are very reasonable; much less than most vets. I highly recommend them. more

I use to take my dogs to this clinic. Believe me, they will take you for every penney you have. You will never come out of there for less than a hundred dollars. \r I boarded my dog there for 3 days over a Memorial Day weekend. When I returned, my dog was sick because the Vet said that she was very scared and nervous in the little cage they stuck her in. He gave her medicine and cleaned her up and then had the nerve to charge me for it!! I knew somebody that use to work for this vet. This person said that they are out to suck whatever they can out of you. I've known several people that do not take their animals there anymore. Please, take your pet some place else and save your money. They love to suck you dry for your money. more

I called all over trying to find a place to clean my dogs teeth for a resonable price and El Paso was the place. They took excelent care of her and were very resonable on there prices. We also put her in there kennel while we were on vacation, she did great there. more
