I saw Eibschutz for a few years myself but only because he's the only doctor in town. He is the absolute worst. I have no idea how this man got a licence to practice. I am not a doctor but I know far more about these diseases than he does. In fact, the man is a complete idiot. If you know very little to nothing about rheumatic diseases than you'll probably think he's okay. If you have any knowledge at all about them, you'll know exactly what I mean after five minutes with him. Other than his assistant, all other employees are rude, dumb and treat people as if they are fecal matter off the street. You will be better off seeing any other doctor, travelling hours or even better off seeing no one at all for your problems than to see this doctor. The few things that he did do for me were incorrect, wrong tests, wrong diagnosis and wrong medications. He truly knows nothing about anything. I did find the best Rheumatologist ever! Doctor Bartel in Solvang. Kind, intelligent, extremely throuough and knows everything about rheumatic diseases and more. Bartel got it right the first time. Eibschutz will never get it right. more

NEVER in my life have I been turned away from a doctor's office for being 10 minutes late. Nor have I ever been treated in such a coldhearted manner by the receptionist. What kind of a doctor would turn a new patient (one who has chronic pain on a daily basis) away for arriving 10 mins. late? All of my paperwork was already there. There is only 1 rheumatologist in SLO apparently, so he must have the monopoly on all of us chronically ill. I cannot get over what a disregard for another human being's pain this doctor and this office must have. Just another example of how powerless one feels as a patient. \r more

Doctor Barry Eibschutz is NOT a good Rheumatologist at all. I've been seeing him for a few years now and he is far from a good doctor. Some of the best Rheumatologists' in the country feel the same way. Eibschutz thinks RA can only form in the small joints and that you absolutely have to have swelling. I think he needs to take a few, very long, refresher courses. RA can form in ANY joint in your body and 20% of all RA patients never get swelling. Eibschutz is NOT the Rheumatologist to see. In fact.... if you can see any other doctor, do it! For anything that a Rheumatologist sees you for. This doctor knows very little about the things he should know everything about, even medications, he's so weird and always so wrong! more

Thrilled with Dr. E 3/24/2008

I have been a patient for about 9 years with Systemic Lupus. He has been nothing but great with me, taking all the time I need and I never feel rushed. I also agree with the last post about how nice it is to be called in by the doc himself and not some nurse that shoves me in a room and then has me wait for another half hour with no magazines. Ugh. Anyways, I'd follow him if he moved, too. Bravo, Dr. E. Pros: Office staff is kind, environment is calm and clean, Doctor is professional more

great doctor 1/5/2008

I have to strongly disagree with the last post. I find it hard to believe that Dr. E. would refuse to order labs. That seems to be his bread-and-butter. I have never, in my three years under his care for rheumatoid arthritis, felt that he hasn't taken me seriously or treated me with great respect. In fact, I have never undergone a more thorough physical examination by any doctor. He always seems to have another better option when his treatment isn't working. I also think it's great that he doesn't have a nurse because he calls you in and greets you personally which I think is very refreshing in this age of get them in and get them out. I do agree that since Chris and Marsha left, his office staff has suffered a little--Chris especially was very warm. As far as getting another rheumatologist, forget it. If he left the area, I would follow him. Pros: personalized care Cons: hard finding disabled parking close to the office more

PATIENTS BEWARE!!! 9/21/2007

Patient for few years. Was great until this year, when my pain reached an all-time high. Asked that new labs be performed and was denied. Was diagnosed with something else and sent off to another specialist. That only caused months of more pain, tests and most days of non-functioning. Finally a new physician confirmed that my original diagnosis was elevated (why I originally went in to see Dr. Eibshutz ) and am finally being treated. Pros: Lobby is decorated nicely and is quiet Cons: Office staff is not knowledgable and not trained. more
