My daughter has been trying to get her pictures from her 2004 wedding for 8 years now. It's 2013 and still no pictures to show after giving him $2,400. Robbery at it'sworst. more

RUN AWAY!!!\r \r While Eddie may take some decent photographs, they're not nearly good enough to compensate you for the time, money, and seemingly endless frustration you will endure after choosing him as your photographer.\r \r Up until our wedding day, we thought Eddie was just an eccentric and inefficient photographer who was relatively hard to get in contact with. However, once the wedding was over, Eddie was almost impossible to reach. Despite frequent attempts (at least once a week) to reach him over the phone and email, he would literally wait months before ever getting back to us. Then, when he did get back to us, it was usually with an excuse and/or a rambling message that never addressed the core issue - we wanted to see our wedding pictures and receive the leather-bound wedding album he raved about while selling his services.\r \r In the end, we didn't receive copies of our pictures until seventh months after our wedding. It took eight months to receive our book. The only photos he edited were ones for the book, despite the fact that he promised to edit others upon request (per the contract). He eventually agreed to edit a list of photos we gave him, but we have still not received a single one. He only sent us a CD with a much smaller number of random, unedited photos that doesn't even correspond to the list he agreed to edit. Despite our complaints to him regarding this, we haven't heard anything and it is likely we will never receive edited versions of pictures with family and other moments we really hoped to have ""professionally"" done. \r \r I honestly don't understand Eddie. He spends more time and effort evading and deceiving you than it would take to just do the work he promised you. \r \r Even if the sticker price is higher for other photographers, their total cost (time, energy, frustration, undelivered service) should be much less than Eddie's. Avoid the headache and hire somebody else for your important day. more

if you want a huge headache, go with Eddie 1/22/2011

I won't lie to you, Eddie does take some good photos and is very friendly, but the pros end there and the cons begin. more

Unprofessional 8/2/2010

My best friend and his fianc?e' were interested in Mr. Mulkeen and spent 4 hours with him in the hopes that they could get a quote and maybe some pics taken like Mr. Mulkeen suggested. When they met with Mr. Mulkeen he proceeded to talk about his phone and how awesome it was and never gave them a quote or took any pictures. After the meeting they decided to go with Mr. Mulkeens ""assistant"" because of a higher quality photo. Mulkeen then pulled the biggest blunder anyone could make. He thought he was sending a scathing e-mail to his assistant, but in fact, it went to my best friend and his fianc?e'. Not once but twicce did he make this error. The email was so unprofessional and rude! He called them ""stoners"" and they needed ""expectation managment"". Mulkeen even advised his ""assistant"" on how to upcharge and make more money off them. Mr. Mulkeen was not even worried when he realized the error he had made in sending the e-mail to the wrong person. He was more concerned about getting his ""finders fee of $200"" . Mr. Mulkeen is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL, and I would advise anyone who works with him to be careful because he only wants your money and does not care about the most important day in your life. My best and his fiancee' are way too nice to say anything that I have mentioned in this review. I felt it had to be said because of the level of unprofessionalism Mr. Mulkeen has reached. Be careful. Cons: Unprofessional, greedy, rude more

**WARNING** 7/28/2009

Let's see....where do I start???? For someone to claim wedding photography is all he does, he knows what to do....what a lie! OK. 1. We did not want an engagement picture taken, yet he practically forced us to (would not stop talking about how important it is until we gave in). 2. My husband and I did not see each other before the wedding so we gave him a time line of events for the wedding day (which he requested)--went OVER the time limits for all, in the end I only had 15 minutes to rest/eat before the ceremony. 3. Had the two groups (guys, then girls) up in the balcony in the church before the wedding, and I ended up with DIRT all over on the bottom of my dress. 4. Did not take a picture of my father and i walking down the isle (from the front)-told us the priest said no flash photography...but yet managed to get all my bridal party walking down the isle from the front. 5. Gave him a list of pictures that I wanted taken which he ok'd (candid and staged)--did not get them. 6. My co-worker said she saw him eating and drinking during the ceremony. 7. Told him during the ""planning meeting"" about our families per his request. When it came time for pictures with my grandparents, it was my fathers mother, and my mothers father....kept telling my grandpa to get closer to my grandma and at least act like they love each other....um HELLO my one grandfather died, and my other grandma is in a home--you wrote this down at the meeting. My wedding day was about 1 and 1/2 yrs ago, after all of this, I didn't even bother to get my album...didn't want to waste any more of my time or energy with him. I strongly agree with all of the other bad reviews (1-2 stars) on this site Pros: He showed up and took some pictures Cons: EVERYTHING else more

VERY SLOW + Lots of unfilled promises 5/26/2009

Always took much longer than he told us to get anything done. He said we would have our album by Christmas and we didn't get it until the middle of May. He rarely responded to our emails and when he did he steered around the questions we asked him. He took good pictures and we are happy with the way our wedding album turned out, but we were very frustrated with how long it took compared to how long he said it would take. Pros: Took good pictures Cons: Slow, hard to contact, always giving false deadlines more

Not worth the heartache and the hassle 1/29/2009

Like some of the others on this site, I can't believe he has such a high rating. It took 2 full years to get my wedding album. I was so distraught from his lack of response that I gave up trying to reach him after a year. My Mom had to keep pestering him over and over again just to get my book. I still don't have my wedding video, and my wedding was 7 years ago. He also had such a lack of professionalism. He set up his backlighting behind my train and then asked me to move this way and that and my train knocked over the light and broke the bulb. Do you think he was prepared with a spare bulb? Nope. No backlit pictures for me! He only spent minimal time at my reception. He also said that our package included leather bound photo books for my bridesmaid's. Never saw those either. I would not recommend him to anyone. Pros: Photos in the church were pretty. Cons: Everything else about working with him. more

Avoid... 5/15/2008

It took Eddie just over 2 YEARS and 2 months (and lots of emails, phone calls, prodding on my part) after our wedding to get our album to us. I don?t know how others received this wonderful 5 star service from him, but that?s definitely NOT anywhere close to what we got. I?m amazed actually at how high his rating is on here!! Especially considering I?ve met another couple who had the same lousy service from him. I don?t recommend him to anyone, and as a matter of fact I specifically tell people who are hunting for a wedding photographer to AVOID him. --- Like another reviewer below, it took him FOREVER to respond to phone calls, emails, etc after the wedding with any type of information about the status of our album. And when we finally got our album, it wasn't what we had discussed ordering. The pictures were all there, but it was from a different 'bindery' company. He didn't bother to tell us he wasn't going to order from the original place. --- We had an ?assistant? of his taking candid shots and then she was the only one who showed up later at our reception. The photo?s she took at the reception were not good. There were only a few that were worth keeping. The rest had either too much flash, were not in focus, too dark? it was very disappointing. It?s also disappointing that Eddie couldn?t show up at our reception (he did inform us before the wedding, but I don?t remember what it was that was more important than a client contract) when we had booked his ?unlimited? deluxe package. So there are no pictures of the bouquet toss and most of the reception like we thought there would be. We barely got a good picture of cake cutting. The actual pictures themselves are decent, but going with him isn?t worth the risk in my opinion. Not a good experience at all. It shouldn?t take over 2 years and be that difficult to get your wedding album ? it?s just unacceptable from a ""professional"". Cons: Slow, bad customer service more

Money well spent: Professional Service and a Beautiful book. 3/23/2008

One of my co-workers showed me her beautiful wedding album done by Eddie Mulkeen and I was really impressed. I went to his website ( eddiemulkeendotcom )and looked at his blog where many of his 2007 weddings were posted and I could see the variety of his work. My entire experience with Eddie and his co-photographer Jen was just what I wanted. They arrived in the morning at my Parent's home to take pictures of the bridal party getting ready. Eddie and Jen helped us relax and knew just what to do, and he never directed us like we were at a photo shoot. Eddie and Jen covered our day from preparations to garter/bouquet toss, following us everywhere we went and recording everything, putting in at least 12 hours on our day. When I saw my album design projected in his studio I was in tears...My wedding was preserved in an artistic storybook that was many times more beautiful than I had imagined. I had seen the other albums he has made from other weddings and they were beautiful...but this was MY WEDDING and it was preserved beautifully and I could relive the moments with my album. It's different when you are looking at YOUR OWN WEDDING PICTURES, you can really see the artistic eye of the photographer at work. We almost hired a cheap photographer on Craigslist because our budget was tight but thank goodness we didn't. Many of my friends cut corners on the Photography and it was the biggest mistake they made in planning their wedding. We did pay $900 for our wedding cake (but all that's left of it is the Pictures) It's easy to spend on the tangibles but the experience of the wedding photographer and their artistic ability is an ""Intangible"" that you forget about when planning a wedding. There's always one more thing to buy and if you don't plan carefully you could spend your whole budget before you get to the photographer and have to hire someone who only does it on the weekends and have to live with embarrassing results for the rest of your life. Pros: Money well spent more

Sunny Day, Beautiful Pictures 12/11/2007

We had an outdoor wedding at Albertson's Farm in Stillwater and our reception was on one of the Paddle wheel boats on the St. Croix. We had a beautiful sunny day and everything went perfectly. One of our best decisions was to hire Eddie Mulkeen to shoot our wedding. One advantage was that he had been to Albertson's Farm many times in different seasons and we could see exactly what a Ceremony would look like. Our pictures were beautiful and we liked the way Eddie took us and our wedding party from one area to another and got a lot of fun pictures in a short amount of time. When we got back from our Honeymoon we met with Eddie and he showed us a beautiful design for our wedding album that he created on the Computer. We approved it and it was back from the Bindery in 3 weeks. At first we didn't know how much to budget for photography but now that we have our book and the wedding is over we don't care what it cost...we got exactly what we wanted. And one of the best things about hiring Eddie was his confidence and experience...when you're planning a wedding you don't realize how important the photographer is...you're with them all day and if they know what they're doing they can really help you relax and enjoy everything. He's shooting my sister's wedding next spring and I've recommended him to 2 of my co-workers. Pros: Excellent work at great price more

Nice photos - but what a wacky guy 10/21/2007

Had a winter wedding. My photos were great. Took forever to get the album. My mum and I really had to put the pressure on him to get it to us. Still took several months. Wore sneakers at the wedding, which seemed a little odd. Also spotted him chugging a can of energy drink in his SUV - I guess that's how he stays awake thru the weddings. I also didn't like that he went over time on the pre-ceremony photos, so there i was outside the worship hall in my gown where all the guests could see me. He didn't seem to notice or care. However he did create a nice list of every shot that we wanted and he didn't miss any. Also seemed patient with the family members during pictures (grandma, etc). Basically he was very responsive when we first signed up with him - always answered his phone, or returned calls, etc. However it seemed after the wedding he was very hard to get ahold of and never answered our calls (caller id maybe?) which was frustrating. He also takes you down in this creepy basement area that is stuffy and makes you look at thousands of other people's pictures. Overall, the pictures turned out nice which is the most important part. but if I had to choose a photographer for my daughter, etc I probably wouldn't pick him. Pros: Nice quality photos. Took time to make specific photo shot list. Cons: He is a little cookoo....a few screws loose I reckon. more

FUN and Natural 8/21/2007

My wedding was in August of 2006 and I was just a bridesmaid in July at a friend's Wedding that was photographed by Eddie and his assistant. I referred her to Eddie and she got a ""Friend of the Bride discount"" We had a great time taking pictures at my wedding and that was one of the big reasons I told my friend she HAD to hire Eddie to shoot hers. I've been in 8 weddings and taking pictures was ""work"" at most of them. The most important thing for us was that taking the pictures would be FUN! and it was. but we also loved our pictures because there was such a variety. AND THEY WERE SO PERFECT! We got a statuesque portrait of me at the altar with my train arranged perfectly (my mom's favorite picture) Eddie actually brought one of his big studio ""Window Lights"" to take that picture. It made it look like a Magazine Cover with soft window light coming in from the side. Eddie's picture of me at the altar actually looked BETTER than many of the full page magazine shots I've seen. Eddie also retouched the picture to make some of the details sharper and my skin softer. No way I'm a model but I looked like one in that picture. But really the best pictures of the day were taken in a garden after the wedding. Eddie posed us for some pictures but he captured real natural expressions while we were just being ourselves. One thing that we really enjoyed was what he calls ""The Dress Rehearsal"" also know as an engagement portrait. We started at our church and took a few engagement shots there and we liked one so much we did the same shot on the day of the wedding. He used a ""Fisheye"" lens which somehow didn't distort us but we could see the entire church including the steeple right behind us. Then we went to Lake Harriet Garden for more pictures. The nice thing about that was on the day of the wedding It was like we ""Picked up where we left off"" I've been in 9 Weddings and Eddie is the best photographer I've seen for Art, Professionalism, and Personality. Pros: He helped us relax and have fun. more

Some Warnings 7/30/2007

Mr. Mulkeen asked that I update this review as I now have my wedding album. There were some issues I had with this business. (1) I was very disappointed when I went to look at our wedding pictures to find out Mr. Mulkeen did not take many candid and reception pictures. I ordered the deluxe package which states ?I am your photographer all day long...sometimes for 12?14 hours.? However, Mr. Mulkeen stayed only half way through the 1st dance. I didn't get pictures of the grand march, bride getting ready, dinner table settings, father/daughter dance, toasts, etc., which is exactly the type of pictures on his website and in his example albums. I anticpated having a huge variety of photographs. Mr. Mulkeen did add some of my friends photos to my album, however, I did not get the other photos described above, which I really wanted in my album. Mr. Mulkeen told me that my album was going to tell a story. Because he did not take these pictures described above, my album does not tell a story. (2) My wedding was 8/06, and I finally received my finished album 10/23/07! It was a lot of work to get Mr. Mulkeen working on my album. I originally gave him 20-some page layout of what I wanted to include in my album in 1/07; I didn?t get to see a completed draft of my album until late 8/07! I emailed/called him repeatedly asking for a status! Mr. Mulkeen openly admitted (after he gave me the draft of my album) that completing the albums in a timely manner was not his strong suit. (3) He provided me an example of an album that he ""just completed"" in 6/2007. The album was for a wedding that was a month after my wedding! (4) It was also difficult getting him to respond to my complaints. I emailed/called him asking why his assistant didn't show, and it took him nearly 3 months respond! Although Mr. Mulkeen and I talked about the issues, it's not going to bring back that day. To conclude, I did get my album with a few good shots, however, it was a bad experience! Cons: unprofessional, disorganized, slow to respond, (I would have wrote more above, but there is a limit of 2000 characters) more

Great Pictures. 7/24/2007

Our pictures turned out very nicely, very good variety of candid and posed shots. We got the shots we wanted. Pros: Good quality/variety of images. Cons: N/A more

One of the ""Ten Best Wedding Photographers in Minneapolis"" 11/29/2006

I originally met Eddie and his associate at the January Wedding Fair in The Convention center and was impressed with the unique design of his albums. His work is all digital and he designs each page in the computer. and has a bindery assemble the pages into beautiful leather covered albums. They were really head and shoulders above anything we saw at the wedding fair. He actually sees his work as 50% graphic designer and 50% photographer. His photography totally rocks and the albums he designs are stunning. We spent under $4000 and got a beautiful 30 page custom designed album that is one of the most important memories from our wedding. We spent a lot but we got a lot of value for our money. Pros: Quality more

ok, but not worth it 11/26/2006

My wedding was 6 months ago, and I am still reeling about my photographs. The images themselves are fine, but the mannerisms of the photographer made things so stressful for us! I found many other photographers that were less money with the same quality of pictures, but we went with Eddie because photography was the most important investment on our day. We learned the hard lesson of why you need to make sure your photographer's personality matches yours. We weren't too excited about him, but thought that his reviews were great and his work was beautiful, so it was worth it. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Pros: images are great, but not extrodinary Cons: photographer's professionalism = ick more

Beautiful pictures with one warning 11/6/2006

I have to agree with the previous review except for one item. I agree 100% that the pictures were absolutely beautiful! He was a little more expensive than a lot of the other photographers we saw, but the pictures were worth it! However, one thing that we did not expect was that he would not let anyone take candid shots in the church which is such a huge part of a wedding. He kept yelling at a friend of mine who kept taking pictures. Everyone knows to wait until the photographer is done taking his picture so that the lighting isn't messed up, but the minute he takes his, everyone else should be able to take theirs. That did put a damper on things a little, but I am grateful to my friend for ignoring him. So, be sure to clarify that, but overall, the pictures are a treasure!! Pros: BEAUTIFUL pictures! Cons: Didn't allow candid pictures to be taken in church more

The Pictures really are ""Terrific""! 9/18/2006

Eddie Photographed our wedding at the Como Park Conservatory last fall and we were ABSOLUTELY THRILLED with the results. His trademark is ""The Pictures are Terrific! "" and ours certainly were. We knew him because he photographed a friends wedding and my husband and I were both members of the wedding party. He's an expert at Como Conservatory weddings and he's done over 100 weddings there. Here's his website, see for yourself at eddiemulkeendotcom. Pros: experience, highest quality work Cons: other than the cost....none more
