I lost a gas rigid contact lens and need a replacement. I contacted East Lake Eye Care (previously Bender Eye Care) and they shredded my medical records for the last 33 years because I have not been there for 5 years. I had no idea what my prescription was or the contract brand\model name. I have been wearing gas rigid contacts for 30 years. The rigid model allow my eyesight not to chance much over time, that is why I haven't need to get new contacts in 5 years. Anyway, Elliot at East Eye Care showed no compassion and wanted $200.00 for an exam and contact fitting. Needless to say, why would I pay $200 to someone that destroyed 33 years of eye care history? Per my conversation with other eye doctors, most are scanning records and storing them on CD’s to save space. My new eye doctor, Dr. Claffie, said that I would not need to worry about her eye care facility deleting my records for 10-15 years. So, the word of advice here is; if you value your medical history, I would not recommend going to East Lake Eye Care. They don’t care and that’s the bottom line. more

Thank you East lake Eye Care for my Kate Spade glasses! I have gotten complements galore and have sent many of my friends to see you all since. I have been going to different eye doctor's office's for years, however I have never gotten such personalized attention and style expertise until finding you. I have lived in East Lake Woodlands for years and never realized you were tucked away right around the coerner. When the doctor talked to me about contact lenses, I was so happy. I always wanted to waer contact lenses for tennis and spin class. My previous doctors always told me that my stigmatism was to high and I was not a canidate for contacts. The doctor had a specialty pair of contact lenses mad for my unusual prescription and my vision was great. She spent the time needed to get them exactly right and they feel great. I was so impressed especially because the doctor and staff were so polite and enthusiastic to help me. The doctor even noticed my younger daughter who accompanied me during my eye exam getting very close to her I pad while waiting. We scheduled an exam for her at a later time. The office was great with my daughter too. She also had a stigmatism and did not tell me that she always would get up out of her seat to see the board at school. Since my daughter's eye exam, her teacher told me that since she has gottan her glasses that she has been participating in class more and raising her hand to read aloud. Something she never did before. The teacher thought she was just being shy. I didn't even know she was having an issue in the classroom. The kids glasses selection was so adorable, my daughter found the perfect cutest pair. I am so thankful for not only making me look fabulous- my husband loves my new look with my glasses and for helping me and my family. Thank you East Lake Eyecare for being thoughtful, wonderful and so close to home. more

I have worn glasses my whole life and this by far was my best experience yet at the eye doctor. The staff is wonderful, efficient and very friendly. The doctor took a long time with me to answer all of my concerns and address my problem issues. I wanted to get new glasses and they have thousands of pairs to pick from. But luckily the optician shopped for me and found several pairs which were perfect. Without him I would have never picked out several models which were so beautiful on me. Together we selected the best look for me. I used my insurance benifits for my everyday pair and they gave me a huge discount on the second pair of Coach sunglasses. I'm on the computer all day so they recommended that I could benefit from computer glasses. I am writing this review after I received my computer glasses. All my glasses were perfect, but my computer glasses are phenomenal. Nobody else ever recommended computer glasses. My vision is great and headaches are finally gone. I recommend East lake Eyecare to everyone more

Went here years ago. Prescription was bad. They spent more time fighting me using 1-800-Contacts than they did providing me with an accurate prescription. Switched doctors and got a new prescription 4 months later. I would not recommend East Lake Eye Care to anyone. It was truly a horrible experience and horrible prescription. more

I've been to this eye doctor a few times now, only because of the insurance I carry. NEVER AGAIN. I went for a basic eye exam and contact lens fitting. This place is beyond overpriced, to buy ONE lens at this eye doctor is the cost of three PLUS the exam at another. Shame on me for just not paying out of pocket. \r \r My biggest problem, however, was with Michelle, the woman in reception who lied to me at the day of my appointment telling me I ""must purchase the lenses through East Lake Eye Care."" When I pressed on why the day of the appointment, I was told that you can no longer purchase gas permeable lenses online and that another eye doctor would charge for a visit PLUS the purchase price. My own fault for believing her? Maybe, and the fact that I waited 40 minutes to be seen, another 30 for the appointment (with no dilation of my eyes) and another 10 in reception as she wrapped up my paperwork and made me pay 100% in full before they ordered the lenses. Late to a meeting was a bigger issue than overcharged and lied to at the time.\r \r A few weeks later I need to pick up the lenses and schedule a follow up. After I'm done restarting my heart from the price-tag shock, I attempt to schedule a follow up appointment.... doctor's out of town. Back to the office to check my schedule and I call in to schedule WEEKS out, nothing available still. Finally, I give up because honestly I am so pissed at the place I steam when I think about it. \r \r Cut to three months later, I hate my lenses, they don't fit well, I never wear them because of this and I call just to find out what's needed to replace or switch to soft lenses. I get Michelle again. SUPER. She's unpleasant.\r \r After I'm given the shake down for hundreds of dollars for a new appointment, she keeps perpetuating the problem and continues to lie and tell me AGAIN that not only can't I get gas perm lenses online...I can't receive my own prescription. Aren't they my medical records? ""Well.... not really...."" REALLY??? Also, ""Well, there really is NO actual prescription until we order them, fit them, correct them, etc."" I asked how they actually order them if there is no prescription... lots of ""ummm, well's, soooo, ummmmmms."" It goes on and on, I tell her she keeps making it worse, and she does. I even go so far as to warn her that if it continues, I'll just listen intently and put negative reviews online - which is when she got got nasty and I got off the phone. BUT NOT BEFORE she offered one last time to have someone else call me to schedule an appointment THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR. \r \r I bid her good day.\r \r Between my husband and myself, we must have given this place THOUSANDS of dollars over the years. I feel seriously violated. \r \r Forget this place, I think Walmart must have better service... for sure better pricing. more

Very Nice People 2/8/2012

Very Nice People. My experience started ith a broken pair of glasses which I did not purchase at this office. I just walked in off the street and asked if they could fix my broken frame. The office was beautiful inside and they greeted me very nicely. The optician was very friendly and offered me a cupcake snack while he inspected my glasses. Fifteen minutes later he came back and had perfectly repaired them, changed my nose pads and cleaned them for me. I had surley thought that my glasses were gonners but it was a miracle. Yeah, I could see again. I asked how much were the charges and they told me that they do not charge for repairs or adjustments no matter where I bought them. What a pleasant surprise, it made my day. They were so nice that I made my next eye appointment there. After forty years, that was the most thorough eye exam I ever had. The entire office was professional, friendly, and honest from top to bottom. I now bring all of my family there and have recommended East Lake Eyecare to several friends. Everyone has had the same great experience which I have had. FIVE STARS. more

WOW...yes I said WOW 11/16/2011

This is far the best medical office experience I have ever had. Most medical offices I have been to never acknowedge your presence when you walk in, but not this one. I had WHITE GLOVE treatment all the way down the line. They all must have taken the Ritz-Carlton customer service school. FRIENDLY-COURTEOUS-PROFESSIONAL. I had a really bad eye problem and the doctor addressed every aspect of resolving this. I have been back two more times and was fitted with contact lenses and glasses. Both are terrific. Everyone just loves the way I look in my new fash'in specs. The optician was great,I would have never selected these on my own. Everyone should make an appoinment with this office. more

ABSOLUTLY FABULOUS 11/12/2011

Absolutly fabulous. My friends were right, the best office I have been to in 20 years. The most friendly, professional, organized eyecare practice we have ever been to. Staff greeted me like family, the doctor spent all the time that I need to answer all my concerns, the optician did all my shopping for me and selected the perfect pair of glasses for me. And, the prices were very reasonable. I also wear contact lenses, and the fit is absolutly perfect. I purchased contact lenses at the same price as Walmart and1800contacts. The best experience ever- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. more

I went this place because I liked most of the previous reviews. However, it was very disappointing!\r \r First, I waited over an hour! That was a disorganized morning. I was there for over an hour before get to the doctor. I clearly saw, there was someone came in after me, but was taken care of before me! \r \r Second, I was told, at the checkout point, that there was a ""fitting"" charge, which is for the sample contacts that they had me put on. I would not have accepted if I knew a pair monthly disposable soft contacts is over $60! \r \r Third, the ladies at the front desk and checkout desk are very arrogant, especially the one takes payments. She stated that I donâ??t have a good insurance, all I had is discount. I specifically said more than three or four times, ""are you sure?""?She insisted. So, I had to pay everything. But, after I left them and checked with my insurance, I found out, I only need to pay 10%! \r \r After all, I don't want to criticize this place, but who would say it was OK after experiences all of these?\r more
