EX good buffet place 2/27/2012

The quality of the food here has slowly gone downhill. It used to be that lunch was pretty good and had a wide selection of dishes. But today, most of the foods taste bland and it barely justifies the high price they charge. I guess their food selection is kinda okay...definitely not great. more

Dirty place 6/21/2010

We were dinning at East Buffet at Main Street, Flushing Sunday 6/20/10. This place is dirty, floor was sticky, table clothe has hole in it. Food was not as good as used to be. After dinner the waiter came to us and ask us to leave as they were people waiting. One of the bus boy acting like gangster was so rude that he practicully yelling at us to leave. We were really humiliated by these people. My wife leave with tears in her eyes. Pros: cheap food Cons: Dirty and greasy floor. Rude waiter acting like gangsters more

A SHARP chinaware SPLINTER in the ice cream cut my tongue!!! 1/18/2010

I went to this HORRIBLE place with my wife, 2 daughters and the family of my sister in law on 01/16/10 afternoon. When I was eating the ice cream, I felt a horrible pain in my tongue. When I pull that SHARP ""thing"" off my mouth, it was a SHARP chinaware SPLINTER!!! My blood spilled on the table (see the pictures) and the waiters only offered me a glass of water. They did NOT offer to call an ambulance or doctor!!! I was however glad that it did NOT happen to my children since they were eating the ice cream originating from the same machine! The *BEST* of all things was they STILL gave us the check and EXPECTED us to pay!!! I was calling 911 and one chinese waitress (NO ENGLISH PLEASE...) came over and told us to pay! I can't imagine how RUDE people in this place are!!! It reminds me immediately to all the poisonous toys, milk, candies and other products from that country!!! I called 911 and two police officers came over and took a note of what has happened. Even though the police officers got the owner to move his ass out of his office to my table, he did NOT apologize at all, NEITHERr did his managers and waiters!!! I have also filed a complaint to the Department of Health! I'm gonna sue this restaurant! Obviously they always forget that they are NOT doing business in their home country China and they think they can always HARM people in the U.S like they always to the people in China. Pros: NOTHING good about this DAMN HORRIBLE place!!! Cons: You DON'T want to get yourself and children hurt by them more

much worse than it used to be... 10/18/2008

The quality of this restaurant has decreased significantly over the past several months. It's also much cheaper than it used to be.. but you get what you pay for.... actually you get a lot less than what you pay for. Most of their food is not fresh, and the selection is very limited. Also if you decide to eat here... make sure you know where the restroom is... because chances are, you'll find yourself running there at least once (if you know what I mean). Do yourself a favor, and go to the Long Island one instead. Pros: convenient location Cons: bad food more

AWESOMMMMMMMEEEEE 7/27/2008

Okay everyone should stop exaggerating and saying its a horrible place and other gossips. I've been to many authentic places and trust me its not dirty or a horrible experience or place. The food is absolutely amazing, prices are descent especially for all you can eat lobster, seafood and much more!!! Cons: Sometimes they can get cheap with the duck more

Good for regular dining, worst for the party 7/26/2008

I used to come for dining and last time my friend decided for wedding party. Pros: Nothing. Cheap. Cons: Rule Manager, low service, don't know how to handle party more

Disgusting!!!!! 6/23/2008

This place should be condemned. I took my dad here for Father's Day thinking it was a nice place because of all the wonderful reviews on another site. What a mistake. I don't know how this place passes inspection. The floor was filthy and sticky. It stunk like urine near the dessert table. I glanced into the kitchen and noticed the floor was very greasy with food particles all over it. Aside from all this, my daughter found a hair in her custard. more

Should be closed due to health violations 3/21/2008

I found things crawling around the cash register, god knows what might be crawling around the kitchen. The food quality is horrible, long lines(sushi line, peking duck line, grill line) people fighting for people, rude management. The night got worst and worst. They charge us extra for staying longer than 1.5 hours. I complaint to them and told them about the long wait on the lines. They didn't care. Just like the other consumer, I was told to pay and leave. DO NOT EAT AT THE THIS RESTAURANT. Pros: Location Cons: Stubborn, low class management. They will nickel and dime you more

WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER!!! 3/21/2008

This has been my worst restaurant experience ever. During their ""half price special"" they got rid of all the good food and only left the nasty noodles and cheap frozen food. When I complaint they ignored me and told me to leave, pay and file a complaint. They only care about their money, no consumer service at all. I'm never coming back here again. more

Terrible value - Nickel and Dime you to death. (27% surcharge added to every bill for tip & ""operation charge"") 2/28/2008

I first went to East 3 years ago and it was ok. But since then they've slowly raised prices and put in ridiculous policies, such as a surcharge for every 10 mins. you stay there after 1 hour (they've cancelled this policy recently probably because of customer outcries), removing the good items from the menu such as the grilled to order steaks and seafood. I'm even annoyed by their mandatory tip that is included in the bill because you get the food yourself and the only thing the waiter does is get you drinks and even that is slow. In the past year I've been there maybe 2 times. Pros: Still have the duck Cons: Got rid of the ""good stuff"" while adding 27% surcharge to each bill more

did i mention? BEST all-you-can-eat Peking Duck in this side of the world! 2/10/2008

The BEST place for Peking Duck, and it's ALL YOU CAN EAT! WHAT A DEAL! It comes with free hot-pot/ shabu-shabu at your table, plus there are TVs and I was able to watch the Superbowl game while I got my eats on!! Pros: GREAT VALUE! you get TV, HotPot, & best all-can-eat Peking duck in the U.S. Cons: can be a little cleaner more

Avoid at all cost 1/6/2008

I have traditionally avoided buffet restaurants because I find the quality to be terrible, but my attitude changed once I ate at the Harvest Buffet in Little Neck. The quality, freshness and variety at that restaurant is incredible. I figured that I would try to find something comparable in the New York City area, but East Buffet is NOT that restaurant. On a scale of 1 to 10 with Harvest Buffet being a 10, I would rate East Buffet as a minus 1. Most of the food is old and cold and simply unappetizing. The sushi bar offerings are limited and again appear not to be fresh. The items from the grill were not being prepared in any appreciable quantity. In general, the food quality is terrible and there is not much variety. This is a restaurant that I will never again visit. The cost is the same as Harvest Buffet, but clearly the value is NOT there. Pros: large dining hall Cons: cold stale unappetizing food with little variety more

Don't even bother ... avoid at all cost 12/24/2007

I was there for ""hot-pot"" buffet with my family. I would NEVER go back again even if the meal is for FREE. Pros: Free 2hr parking. Free no brand beer. Cons: Poor Service - Below Average Food - Dirty & Greasy Floor --- $$ on Holiday more

Many choices on the buffet, Fun group dining 12/16/2007

This buffet had many offerings, which appeared to be well-liked. The buffet tables were heavily flooded w/ restaurant patrons. The dishes were diverse and aplenty. The raw bar for hot-pot table-side cooking was an interesting & fun touch to the dining experience. The sushi bar was highly popular swarming w/ diners. While I was enticed by the wide variety of seafood offered, I found that lil' of the seafood items I ate tasted really fresh. The most disturbing factor was that the brick floor surrounding the islands of buffet tables was so greasy that I was terrified I would slip and fall. I realize this is a very popular eating establishment, but if a restaurant's floor nearest the food is that slimy, it makes the whole experience unappetizing. And I left feeling like I didn't get my $27 buffet money's worth. Pros: Wide Selection Cons: Greasy Floor more

Not that bad 9/2/2007

My experience was much better than most of the reviews here would indicate. The staff was pretty attentive, and the food was moderately good (not the best Chinese I have ever had, but certainly much better than the worst). The ingredients were fresh, the serving area was clean and attractive, and the preparation was good. However, there are two things that may have been key differentiators for me. The first is that I was with a Chinese family that was speaking Mandarin the whole time. The second is that we went into the dining area on the left at the top of the stairs. The other areas (on the right, and downstairs) were both a madhouse so I would guess that the staff was probably overloaded and the best food was probably scarce in both of those areas. more
