Explains questions in detail 8/8/2011

I like the fact Dr. Gentry takes time to explain questions in detail and is willing to repeat them if I didn't understand. more

Amazing team 8/4/2011

Dr. Gentry and her staff are an amazing team. In 2007 she delivered my daughter which was an amazing experience. Dr. Gentry really supported and encouraged me through out my child birth and never left my side until the baby and myself were ok and in recovery. I'm now expecting child #2 and have had countless office vists with Dr. Gentry. Her office staff is very warm and friendly. They welcome me every time despite I may not be in the best of moods when I arrive. Dr. G's M.A. Trisha is great. She knows how much I hate the scale and although it's part of my office visit she makes light of it by encouraging me to close my eyes. Trisha is a wonderful M.A. that really adds to the office experience. Dr. G has gone green. They are on a paperless medical record system which is a plus especially when considering the environment. This system cuts back on wait times and really gives the doctor a greater view of the patient before she even see's you. I trust Dr. G with my reproductive and overall health care. She appeared on KRON voted best OB which was really heart warming to know other women trusted her and was more then happy with the coutless services she offers. more

Thankful 7/28/2011

I was referred to this doctor by a relative after being in another health care system. My original health care system was associated with a University, where I was told mis-information numerous times. In the old system, I went in for fibroids and ovarian cysts. An IUD was recommended and during the procedure to address the fibroids the IUD was supposed to be placed. When went to the doctors pre-op, I was told which doctor who would be doing the survey; however, the day of surgery, I was informed that that doctor was just going to observe and a resident would be doing the actual survey. It felt like the old bait and switch, but I was already there and ready, so I went ahead. BIG MISTAKE! Not only did they have problems with the fibroids, they put a hole in my uterus (claimed very small, so the doctor - not resident). Everything I read indicated they would not place an IUD if there was a hole, but these people did anyway. Therefore, by the time I was finished with my old health care system, I had 3 problems instead of just two (IUD in abdomen). Their solution - hysterectomy (as symptom control). Conversely, at Dr. Gentry's office, I found a caring, knowledgeable, and professional doctor, who understood my concerns. At this office, I did not have to worry, if she was going to be the one doing the actually surgery. She gave me time to make a decision considering my options and never did she mention that my best plan of action was a hysterectomy. The day of surgery, I felt confident that my problems would be taken care of. After surgery (my surgery option only required a 1 night stay in a hospital and 2 weeks off), she visited my in the hospital. I actually found out that the IUD had not migrated to my abdomen, but in fact was in my cervix, because the old doctor had made another pathway and missed my uterus entirely. Since, the surgery, my symptoms have gone away and I thankful for this doctor's help. more

State of the art 7/25/2011

I was a patient of Dr. Gentry's between March-September 2004 and she is an EXCELLENT surgeon. I had to have a hysterectomy as huge fibroid tumors had totally destroyed my uterus which in turn was destroying my kidneys. Dr. Gentry explained every aspect of the surgery and promised to give me the newest ""state of the art"" hysterectomy. I will not go into detail on what that is but when she desribed the ""older"" method surgeons used on women in the past I was thoroughly grateful that the surgical method had been vastly improved. I guess in the ""old days"" which weren't that long ago, the surgery practically turned women into eunuchs. At least that what it sounded like. The surgery went smoothly and over 5 years later I have had no ill effects. Dr. Gentry is such a phenomenal surgeon that she was able to remove the tumors through a very small incision in the pubic area despite the huge size of the fibroids. How she was able to do that I will NEVER know. I am not a bikini model but I love the fact that the scar is hidden from view. Of course my experience was 5 years ago and was at her old location not the new location that most reviewers have visited. She is a wonderful surgeon if you ever have to have a hysterectomy. She does keep up on the latest surgical techniques and methods. I give her a 5 star for her surgical skills. more

I recommend ALL my friends and associates to her. 7/6/2011

I have been going to Dr. Gentry's office for more than 15 years. What I particularly like about Dr. Gentry is her attention to detail. Her bedside manner makes me feel like I am her only patient. In her office I do not feel like a file or a number. She ""KNOWS"" me. She knows my condition, my body and somehow remembers little things about me on every visit. In my mind that is what makes a physician special. Her skills are unsurpassed! She is exceptionally knowledgeable and continues to keep her and her staff in front of all the new treatments, medications and surgeries so that I receive the best medical attention available. When there are complications I trust her judgment. She takes the time to explain and clarify what all options are, any implications there might be and answers every question I may have. There is no time clock with her and I always feel through her consult I am confident in the decisions we make regarding the best care for me. I recommend ALL my friends and associates to her. I live in San Francisco and go out of my way to continue to see Dr. Gentry. This is how great of a physician I feel she is. With a highly specialized condition, Dr. Gentry continues to explore all available options and treatments and initiates a call or appointment to keep me abreast of any changes. I am so grateful for her expertise and thank the staff for their support and caring. more

Thanks to Dr. Gentry I have a healthy little boy 6/24/2011

Thanks to Dr. Gentry I have a happy healthy little boy which I am clear would NOT have been here if it wasn't for her. After she asked about my family history she suspected that I may be a high risk pregnancy if I was even able to get pregnant. I had not even really thought about getting pregnant. She did some lab work just to see if I had any issues which needed to be addressed before conception. She is a wealth of information from her own personal issues to what it really feels like to have surgeries, cesarean sections and basic life stresses. It didn't feel like a cold doctor visit with her....ever. Yes I had to wait. Why? Because thousands of other women know how great she is. Would you go to a restaraunt with no one eating? There is a reason her waiting room is packed, that she has to leave and reschedule patients in the middle of the day to deliver babies or do emergency surgery. I felt great when I realized that one day she would be doing that for me. Anyway, despite her busy practice and 2 small kids, I felt very well taken care of. She would sometimes call me with lab results at 8pm, starting the phone conversation with, ""...I know it's late...no bad news...I just wanted to be sure to get back to you.""..... if you have issues or questions, Dr. Gentry stops, slows down, and listens. more

The best! 6/20/2011

My scar is tiny and I had barely any pain recovering from my surgery to remove fibroids. Dr. Gentry is the best! more

Completely trust her! 6/16/2011

I found a lump in my breast. Both of my parents have agressive cancer so I overreacted and panicked. She got me right in, was cautious, made me feel sane for reacting to scar tissue. She got me into a biopsy and of course all was just fine but her professionalism, intelligence and confidence always made me feel all was going to be fine- even if there was something more! I trust her completely! more

Boy was I happyy!!! 6/14/2011

I was referred to Dr. Gentry by my primary doctor for a medical procedure I needed done. I just had outpatient surgery a week ago, and Dr. Gentry was great. Every thing went well, she called me the next day to see how I was doing and left a warm message. When I went to see Dr. Gentry for my initial appointment she was great. She listened to me(what a concept?!) but the most important thing for me was she heard what I was saying and made her suggestion regarding what I should have done. And boy was I happy!!! ( I gave her a hug!) I've read the other reviews about waiting for an hour. Yes, when you go into the doctor's office you would like to be seen in a timely matter. I have waited for a long period of time myself, however I already know it's going to be a wait so I just settle on in. The nice thing is when you finally see the doctor she is not rushing with you and she is taking her time and being very thorough. So, I don't know what to tell ya!!! Dr. Gentry is a great doctor and I would recommend her for your female medical needs. more

Seriously, when it comes to something as critical as a medical condition, who really has time to complain? What Dr. Gentry has done for me, the life altering procedure she has prevented me from having- was CERTAINLY worth a wait. The fact that she's a busy doctor means she's committed to making herself available to people like me; people who had a longstanding medical condition and needed someone to come in and do what other doctors wouldn't and help in ways other doctors weren't willing to. more

only had positive visits 6/2/2011

I have only had positive visits to Dr. Gentry's office and recommend her with out a doubt! more

I cannot say enough good things about her 5/25/2011

She does not stick to a clock. It was good for me, but maybe not good for the waiting room. So if you have patience and want a great doctor who will make a difference if you need her I cannot say enough good things about her. But if you need someone who is completely punctual with her day to day schedule, interrupts you mid-sentence to stick to the schedule, then she is not for you...... I am a rock star in my family because I am the first woman to have a normal term pregnancy.....priceless! more

helped me make good choices 5/24/2011

Dr. Gentry is fabulous. I have been seeing her for several years. I heard about her from almost every woman I know so I thought I would give her a shot. I went in for a routine check up. She talked to me about issues no one has even bothered to ask. She has helped me make good choices with my health BEFORE she helped me get pregnant. more

I will always be a big fan of Dr. Gentry's 5/17/2011

I had a high risk pregnancy, after years of infertility and finally IVF. I had all kinds of complications and scares. I spent my whole pregnancy on bed rest and terrified of losing my long awaited baby. At every turn Dr. Gentry said: ""Oh I had that too, I know just how you feel."" She was warm, reassuring and very, very helpful throughout my ordeal. She visited me practically every single night during my three week stay in the hospital during the holiday season, and was there to personally do my emergency c-section. Most OBs do not even attend your delivery these days if it happens after hours or on weekendswhen they are not on call. I will always be a big fan of Dr. Gentry's. more
