I called about a blocked toilet that needed to be fixed. I was told they could maybe come much later in the day but they refused to give me any time frame at all but told me that they would call half an hour before the plumber would show up. About an hour after I talked to them ( I called about 9 am) I went to take a shower and heard the phone ring. I thought maybe it was them so I got out of the shower with soap still in my hair and cold and wet I checked my answering machine but there was no message, so I checked the caller ID and saw that it was them. I called back and spoke to a horrid, rude, bully battle ax of a woman named Andrea. She told me a plumber was in the area and would be there very soon-I told her I needed at least half an hour to answer the door and she said he would get there when he got there-I told her again I was standing there dripping wet and she said that wasn't her problem and indicated they were doing me a favor squeezing me in. I asked her to call him and tell him I need a half hour and since she was acting all arrogant and like she didn't care I said that firmly. (There would be no one to answer the door but me at that time either). Then she said in all assertive (aggressive) training mode, ""You aren't seriously talking to me like that are you?"" That made me furious and I just said again I need half an hour and hung up. I am strapped right now so a relative who owns the house I live in was going to pay the bill. He had called and gave them his credit card number after I first called EF Winslow that morning. Well I found out later that this @$*&% Andrea ACTUALLY CALLED HIM RIGHT AFTER I HAD GOTTEN OFF THE PHONE WITH HER AND TOLD HIM I WAS RUDE TO HER! I AM A GROWN WOMAN OVER FORTY!!! CAN YOU BELEIVE THAT?!!! SHE CALLED AND ACUALLY TATTLETALED ON ME! THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE?! WTH?! Ten minutes later as I was turning the water off from the shower the doorbell rang and of course it was the plumber. I wasn't dressed and shouted out that I needed ten minutes to get dressed and he said okay. This guy came in with NO bucket to put the plunger in and of course it dripped some on the floor on the way out. (He said it was clean because he rinsed it off in the toilet-yeah right). This stupid company was supposed to do another job that the owner of the house wanted to pay for and an electrician was supposed to come the next day between 2-4. He never showed up. So I called them and a man named Milton who I thought was nice (but wasn't) said he forgot to schedule it the day before when we made it even though we had just discussed how psychotic Andrea was to me and he knew how upset I was, but I guess he didn't care like Andrea didn't care how she was treating me when I talked to her. I was angry but he said lets try tomorrow the same time range again. Well I had a feeling no one was going to come so I called another company late that afternoon and made an appointment with them. And sure enough the next day no one came. Milton told me to twice, that they always call half an hour before they come so I called them around 4:40 that afternoon and told him that I had had it with all of them, I knew no one was going to show up and I was going to let someone else have the work who I had already hired. I did at that point tell him off after I said all that, and then around 5:15 just to try to make it seem like I was wrong some electrician from EF Winslow came to my house. (I'm sure Milton called one after I got off the phone with him and told him to come over here just to try to make a fool out of me), I told him through the door I had already called the office and told them I did not want any of their services ever again and to leave. This company also overcharges big time (see the review about them on the Better Business Bureau website where a plumber charged this guy $850 bucks just to replace two faucet handles!) so if you don't want to get abused, humiliated and ripped off SERIOUSLY CALL SOMEONE ELSE PEOPLE. more

Do not use this company 12/14/2011

I experienced the same problems the other reviewers described. Not only was the person who answered the phone impolite, she hung up on my husband. There has to be an alternative to this company. more

Bad Business Practice 12/14/2010

When I scheduled a service call with EF Winslow for some plumbing work I specifically asked that the technician call me with an assessment of the situation and an estimate before completing any work. I requested this because I was responding to a call from a tenant and was not on site to see the situation myself. EF Winslow took my credit card details when I booked the visit, and the plumbing technician called me after the work was completed. When I called the main office to express being upset by this, the office was unapologetic, and my card is being charged for work that I did not approve. I really resent this business practice, and will not be using EF Winslow's services again. more

Loyal Customer since 1991? Thanks I get??? NOTHING!! 9/29/2010

I had been a loyal customer since 1991. I am a realtor and have many clients that I had refered to Winslow. This July I called them to install a tub/shower & valve I supplied. Plumber who showed up said job would be 3 hrs.max. 2 days ,14 hrs later and a$2000. bill my bath was completley replumbed?? Yet tub/shower still not working? A superivisor stopped by the job, felt this was ""in my best interest"" to do and did it!! I DID NOT HIRE them to do this, DID NOT OK IT, NOR WAS TOLD ABOUT IT PRIOR TO BEING DONE. I have been battling with them over the bill since. I have repeatedly asked for an ITEMIZED invoice for orig. job order. Still haven't seen it. Needless to say after 19 yrs of beinging a loyal customer we are now DIVORCED!!\r Future customers BEWARE!!!! Current customers check your bills and your loyalty means NOTHING to E F Winslow Plumbing!! more
