WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!! I had them clear a problem I had with the main waste pipe in my house. They advertise loudly that their work is warrantied for 3 months. Two months later, I called when the same problem occurred and the sewage was backing up into my basement. I spoke to Mike who I presume is the owner. He informed me in a very unpleasant and agitated tone that the warranty does not cover weekends, evenings or holidays and that the charge would be $325 to come to my house. When I reminded him that this convenient nuance to his warranty was never mentioned, he became very angry and hung up the phone. If you live in the Southern Tier of New York, try Sheesley's. They're honest and get the job done right. YOU WERE WARNED!!! more

I just got off of the phone with the owner who was literally screaming obscenities at me. Completely unprovoked, mind. \r \r Drain Brain came to my house to unclog my sewer line from to house to the street. During the repair Drain Brain's snake broke off in the line. They left the snake in the line and left. The problem is now 10x worse and 10x more expensive. Drain Brain refuses to finish the repair or retrieve the broken snake. \r \r I have never had a worse experience with a business. The problem has been turned over to my attorney and the BBB. more

I was told to be at home from 2 - 4 pm. At 3:30, I looked at my phone and saw that someone had tried to call. I did not recognize the number, and there was NO MESSAGE. I decided to try the unknown number, and it was the plumber who said he'd tried to reach me earlier in the day and was now working out in Cortland. He advised me to call the main office. I did so and was told that 1) they had left me a message and b) that they had been at my house after 2 PM. Both UNTRUE. I hope yo be able to change this review - but right now, I am furious. I've spent the whole day at home and now have someone in their main office telling me that I was not here. more

Wow - what a great service. The crew came in and unclogged the drain in 15 minutes and then tested their work by turning on all the faucets. Their competitor tried 3 times to clear the clog, but all they did was get the floor wet and left. more

We've lived at our home for 13 years. The house has 50 year old galvanized steel plumbing and has always been a problem. At least 3 times a year, we've had to call a plumber to unplug the bathtub drain, or kitchen drain. We've tried a couple plumbers or drain cleaning services, but the Drain Brain is the BEST hands down! They are quick to respond, reliable, and provide terrific service. One thing I value is that they stay until the job is done. Their crew is always polite and friendly as well. I give them the highest recommendation. more

If I could give this business 0 stars, I would. Their actual service staff are friendly and courteous. The owner, however, is one of the worst people you will ever have to deal with in your life. We recently had a service call to my mom's house, to clear a toilet and the shower. 12 hours later we noticed flooding in the basement, obviously whatever the clog was simply got pushed down the line farther. No problem, right on the invoice it says they stand behind their work for 3 months. Or not. Or my mom will call, and then get yelled at, berated, and told it will be $275 to come out and look at the problem. And when I say yelled at, I mean myself, my fiance, and my sister, who were sitting at the table, could hear the owner screaming at my mom. There are plenty of other plumbing services in the Cortland/Ithaca area, so I would steer well clear of this one. more

This company deals with clogged drains and the like. Pretty straightforward task, so you wouldn't think there is much to recommend ... or not. While they do, at least most times, get the job done, there is one BIG problem. Their staff and equipment are FILTHY. You wouldn't want them in your home no matter the severity of the problem. You might think it impossible to do this kind of work without getting filthy ... but all I can say is that there are plenty of trucks about that empty septic tanks, and many look dirtier than the tanks they empty and many look quite clean ... you can do this work and not leave the client in fear of making their home look like the cleaned drain. Try the nearest Roto Rooter franchise instead. They've got to be better. more
