Harvey's would not have been around as long as it has, if it wasn't good! You go Rocky! You are Harvey's! And Lisa my favorite Bartender... it's always great to see you! Lou! more

A Blast at Harvey's 10/15/2007

I was at harvey's for a bacherlorette party and I had a blast. The service was great, the food was great and I recommend it to anyone. Overall the atmosophere was fun and relaxed, while still dining in an upscale restaurant. We all split appetizers at our table (escargot, calamari, spinach dip, thumbits) and everything was great. We did have rocky (we requested him) and he did come out in a couple different outfits while serving us. Yes he is gay, and I am pretty sure there are a couple other gay men at harvey's but that wasn't a problem for my party. It didn't seem to be a problem for any of the other guests in the restaurant either. From what I have read in the other comments, I guess some people are not comfortable with their own sexuality to have to get so defensive and rude about pointing out that they are straight (downtowncop). Don't flatter yourself and lighten up. Anyway, I have always had a great time at harvey's and I will continue to dine at harvey's. I will invite friends, family and even strangers. I am 25 and the top 40 type music fit "My generation" just fine and even when they played swing or jazz, it seemed to fit me too. It is unfortunate that people in the world are never happy. So GO TO HARVEY'S BISTRO and please readers, don't let a few negative people ruin what is a great place to dine, sit with friends and enjoy a night out, and if you are lucky to find yourself at harvey's on a night that rocky is there, be prepared to have a Blast! Pros: Great Food, Nice Dining Location, Relaxed Atmosphere Cons: No valet, Only validates up to two hours for garage more

Response to Gregy6 10/14/2007

Well, in response to the comment by Gregy6. I would like to add that it was not just one of the four people that had a horrible experience. I am the girlfriend of the gentlemen that wrote the review of our experience with the "broke back mountain" want to be. I can honestly say that at least 3 of the 4 people at our table were highly offended and shocked by the "performance". Harvey's Bistro has the potential to be an amazing dining experience. A few things I would change would be to have the wait staff attend a course on professionalism. Also, a shot of expresso may have helped to wake up our waiter. I will say the escargot was the best we've had. It's ashame the entire dinner wasn't as good. The trout was dry and over cooked. I could have overlooked the dinner not being as good as expected if the service had been better. My boyfriend and I will not be returning as there are many other dining options in town. It was obvious that the staff was not going out of there way to be sure we had a pleasurable dining experience. They were more concerned with entertaining one another. To anyone else who gives Harvey's an opportunity I wish you the best of luck. Might I recommend the Venetian Room at the Caribe Royale Resort in Lake Buena Vista? It is a 5 star restarant and so worth the drive to 535. Dexter's Winter Park or Lake Mary would also be a better choice expecially on a night you can enjoy the music from "My Generation". Pros: Best Escargot Cons: Staff not friendly more

Great Atmosphere, Mediocre Food, Horrible Service 10/13/2007

My girlfriend and I wanted to try a new restaurant...so we chose Harvey's Bistro. There website looked great, there atmosphere fit what we were desiring and we had never been there and wanted to try a new place. We met another couple there so we made dinner reservations at 7:30pm. I had to call and push it back an hour and got a hard time from the host. If he couldn't have changed it we would have canceled which would have been ok however he changed it. He called while we were on the way and gave us a hard time and wanted to make sure we were coming. He was so worrited about us getting there as if they were packed. When we got there I think the restaurant had about 6 tables sat and the restaurant was empty. The server was below average in his personality and attentiveness. He had no emotion and really gave me the impression that we were a bother to him and his restaurant. The atmosphere from the staff screemed of gay tendancies which is fine up until another server pranced through the restaurant in a cowboy hat, shirt and scarf and made reference to "broke back mountain". This server then came up to our table, interrupted our conversation and dining experience. This sercer, that was not assigned to our table, made gay comments and as I politely however clearly asked him to "go away" basically made the statement for me to "get in touch with my feminine side". I WAS in touch with that side, with my Girlfriend sitting next to me. The food was NOT impressive and was OKAY....for that quality of food it was overpriced and it seemed that the restaurant staff was more interested in possibly closing early and getting out of work to go out and party downtown Orlando before it got to late. I made this experience known to the Management Staff and got a response of basically "sorry". I didn't want a free meal or experience. I wanted a simple invite to try again and we'll make sure that experience never happens again. I WILL NEVER RETURN! Pros: Atmosphere seemed sophisticated Cons: Service, Food and Staff Behavior was Horrible more

Harvey's Bistro is a Great place to Eat! 7/20/2007

Well I read the reviews about Harveys Bistro and I think that people are referring to them in the wrong way. It looks like just one person in a group of people was un-happy with an isolated situation. I work in the Bank of America building and I eat lunch there all the time. Yes they do get very busy for lunch, but the servers are great about getting you in to eat one of there great features of the day and out in time to make it back to work. Even if you need to have a little meeting (which I have participated in) it's a great atmosphere to talk with colleagues and get the work done. Overall I would recommend harvey's and I will continue to give them my business. Pros: Great Lunch Spot Cons: Sometimes short on lunch features more

Harvey's Bistro is a 5 Star to me all the way!!! 7/16/2007

My friends and I (there were four of us) dined at Harvey's on Saturday July 9th and we had a wonderful time! The restaurant was well staffed, had a great bar area and the food was amazing! We ordered Calamari and Escargot for appetizer's; the Calamari was the best I have ever had! (They prepare it a special way with no rings or tentacles, but in strips). Our server was very polite and very knowledgeable and seemed to be at the table at all the right times. My filet was prepared to perfection and my girlfriend's new england potroast was delicious... I would even go far as to say it is better than anything I have ever had at home. My friends ordered Grouper and a Duck entree and they were all smiles too! When a manager stopped by to ask how our evening was, we talked his ear off in praise for a good five minutes. This is definitely my new favorite in downtown!!! A great place for dinner or just drinks before a night out! Pros: Great Location, Validates Parking, Excellent Food, Friendly Staff Cons: No Valet more

Mediocre Food doesn't make up for horrible wait staff. 6/9/2007

So let me play out the scene, 25th Birthday dinner for a friend with 25 or so people (instant 20% gratuity). We got there at 8:30 and ordered at around 9pm. The waitress didn't give the birthday girl a chance to get involved in a conversation, she asked her a question every 5 min. (I don't know, but it seemed that way) She was constantly rushing us through this meal. The waiter for the other table was on house arrest. I know this because he showed the entire table his ankle monitor (wtf is that about?). Oh yeah, he doesn't really care about carding people for drinks, he did ask though. So instant 20% on 25+ people and we were there only business, yet we were rushed through every part of the meal. Oh yeah, the male waiter had my wife get up to deliver a drink to her. He couldn't figure out how to go around the table. So the food was okay. I'd give them a 6 out of 10 for the food. One more part that I thought was funny. This is supposed to be fine dining, yet they have advertisments between their linnens and the glass covers. I expect this in a mom and pop breakfast joint, not a place like this. If you are in the area and everything else is packed, Havey's is a place where you can get Okay food from a un-trained wait staff. more

Great Atmosphere, not so great food 10/31/2006

I was not very impressed with this restaurant. Although the service and atmosphere are great, the food is not anything to get excited over. They were even out of the chicken and steak selections for the evening, along with another item on the menu. I recommend using this restaurant as a meeting place, or to have a drink at the bar...but definitely not to impress your boss! Pros: Ambience Cons: The Food and being out of menu selections more

Not what it used to be 2/15/2005

We have not eaten at harveys for a few years, but oh my, things have changed. The Onion soup was great. I had the grouper with lemon sauce, it was fair to average. Good size piece of fish , the potatoes were good too, I decided not to have the house vegetables ( ussually mostly onions ) and had asparagus. The Post Roast used to be great , come to find they now cook it in-house. They now use some kind of flank/cheap steak instead of a good beef roast. Overall a much smaller serving that it used to. We were very disappointmented with the visit. We have been talking about going back for a long time, but now we wonder if we ever going back. Maybe just for the onion soup and a dinner salad. more

Had a delightful dinner with 11 guests and could not be more pleased with the quality of food for the price and the great service. Even the one dish that came out a little well done was replaced quickly and cheerfully. I was hesitant to reserve with a mandatory 20% gratuity, but the server earned every penny and more. Harvey's will be a stop again in the future more
