Horrible Experience !! Stay Away !! 12/27/2011

Horrible experience! Stay Away! Had booked a Birthday party for 10 (5 couples) Setup a month in advance in the Patio area. Came in at 7pm. and the table was not even setup. This is on a Monday, day after Christmas and the place was deserted. They scurried around and finally got the table set. We all came with wine to enjoy, and pre-cleared that we could bring as many bottles as we wanted and we would be charged, and gladly pay the corkage fees. We were abruptly told be the manager on duty that 2 bottles max. is there corkage limit. After telling him we cleared this in advance, he then says, ok, we will allow 4 bottles. This is now 20 minutes into a back and forth conversation that we pre-cleared with managment, not once, but twice when we reconfirmed our reservation. He was not nice about this at all. We called across the street to the ""Capital Grille"" to see if they could take our party. They said, come over in 10 minutes. We walked across the street to wonderful greeting at the front door. A Private room, setup magnificently was waiting and we were all greeted by the Manager and Captian: Trevor Hale whom served us that night. We sat down and started to enoy the evening with a nice Sauvignon Blanc from Gainey Vineyards. About the time they brought cocktails ordered by a few in our party, the Manager walks into the room and thanks us again for coming in. He asks for which of the 4 guests are having the B-Day celebration, congratulates them all, and then announces that he is waiving the corkage fee of $200. on the 8 bottles of wine we are to enjoy that night. We had a great experience and will never set foot in Dominicks again. So, if you want a place in WeHo that appreciates your business, head over to The Capital Grille. I predict Dominicks will be gone soon, they treated us very poorly.\r \r more

Best Pancakes Ever! 9/18/2010

I came here for brunch last weekend and I was very excited to try their blueberry ricotta pancakes. I had heard people rave about them from Dominick's sister restaurant Lil Dom's. I am happy to say they were even better than I expected. They are so light and airy you can actually finish all 3 small pancakes without feeling grossly overstuffed. Also the Spiked Arnold Palmer with mint and cucumber is amazing! It is such a refreshing cocktail. They also feature a $12 bottle of prosecco if you are into making mimosas on the cheap with your friends. more

Brunch it up in Weho 9/13/2010

Dominick's brunch was a wonderful surprise. Not only did we NOT know that our favorite restaurant was serving brunch but we've now been back twice. A well kept secret...for now! Definitely try it out. more

Extra Crunchy 8/30/2010

First of all, I have to say that I have been to Dominick's several times and have enjoyed the food and ambience. However, on my last visit an extra ingredient was added to my caesar salad, a broken piece of wine glass, which I had the misfortune of chewing.\r \r This in itself was unpleasant, but the attitude that followed from the staff I found even more unpleasant. There was a brief semi apology, followed by the manager saying that there was no way the glass came from their line. Well, no one had broken a glass at our table and we all saw the salad come straight from the kitchen to our table as it was right by the kitchen doors and though I do like adding pepper to my salad, I am not into spicing it up with glass shards! So unless glass is some new kind of lettuce fungus, the glass I chewed in my salad obviously came from the restaurant.\r \r The manager did not have any further contact with me during dinner after saying it couldn't have come from them. Our server did comp our desserts and my glass of wine and we were not charged for the salad, but the attitude was not apologetic at all. That is, until our group paid the bill; then the manager apologized profusely and asked if I was ok. \r \r Though I do think the food is generally excellent, the extra crunch in my salad left me far from satisfied.\r \r \r more

Wish I had something good to say 6/5/2010

The hostess was good. She told us they had done a crawfish boil that day and that the patio was packed. No problem, we went inside to find.. ahem ..our waiter. We gave our order but he seemed more interested in scanning the room for something better? bigger? By the time we paid the bill my husband still hadn't gotten his drink and the food had been pretty awful. I can overlook a lot but this place didn't leave us with anything good to say about it. Pros: nice hostess Cons: bad waiter, mediocre food more

Great Food! Great Service! 2/10/2009

I've dined at Dominick's several times and always had a good experience. The food is excellent and the price point is very reasonable. \r \r The service is usually excellent too. If you like some fun interaction with your waiter, request Marshall. He extremely knowledgeable and quite charming if he has the time to chat at your table. The bartenders, though often very busy, are very friendly too. The staff does a great job of setting a positive tone to the point that even the customers seem to forget their worries and sit back and relax. \r \r Addressing some of the criticism I've read about the Sunday Supper -- it's a 3 course meal for $15 dollars. 15 DOLLARS! And the wine with the sediment at the bottom, which is $10 A BOTTLE on Sundays, is made in classic italian immigrant style -- it is supposed to have some sediment. My only complaint about Sundays is that it's usually too busy to walk-in a get a table. Also, street parking can be sparse so you usually have to valet (five dollars I think.) Pros: Service/Value/Food Cons: Too Busy to walk-in sometimes more

sweetest waitress, charming patio, tiny portions 8/3/2008

i dined here with a group of friends and had a great time. the patio is lovely, so charming, we could have stayed all night. our waitress was an adorable red head, perfect vibe, non invasive but attentive, classy and witty. best service i've had in a while. my only gripe was for the small portions! the food was so delicious, just not enough of it. Pros: service Cons: portions more

Cozy Italian dining, romantic patio 6/26/2008

I was there for lunch. We sat on the patio with a roofage made out of perspex. As it was very warm that day it felt a little bit like sitting in a greenhouse. However the cozy arranged patio and very friendly staff made up for it.\r My grilled artichoke came steaming hot and succulent. The salad contained sweet cherry tomatoes, marinaded paprika, hazelnuts and rocket salad. I especially loved the dessert. It was a creamy yogurt cake strewn with strawberries and blackberries. I will definitely come back to this Italian eatery. Pros: Food, ambience, service Cons: Sit inside on warm days more

casual cool atmosphere 4/22/2008

went to dominick's last night with a cousin who was visiting from new jersey and my girlfriend. We ordered about 4 appetizer's which was alot for 3 people but I have to say I enjoyed every bit. The grilled shrimp was great as well as the calamari but I thought it could have been fried a little longer.\r \r I had the chicken parmesan for dinner which is pretty regular but I was in the mood for it, it was a HEFTY plate and well worth the price. I barely could eat half. The side of pasta I got was pretty average but it still tasted great.\r \r We sat outside and hung out for a little bit after , the staff was pretty friendly except for one waitress who I think wanted to leave and had an attitude. I wouldn't say this is an amazing restaurant but definiely a nice place to take a date with food you will be satisfied with,\r \r Pros: seated quick without reservation. great appetizers Cons: unfriendly staff more

Sunday night 3 course DUD 4/17/2008

My girlfriend and I decided to try the Sunday 3 course special $15 dinner. It was very disappointing. 1st course was a fennel and orange salad. No dressing, no flavor. The fennel was fresh, and the oranges tasted good, but it definitely needed SOME kind of dressing. The chicken Cacciatore was really soupy and bland. The whole pieces of chicken were chock full of cartilage and the dish was only warm. Desert was some kind of deep fried ball filled with a fruit flavored wall paper paste. The wine didn't only have sediment at the bottom of the bottle, but rather part of the Mississippi river delta! MUDDY! Maybe you get what you pay for, but if they are offering a deal on Sunday, it should reflect the quality of the a la cart food. I would try to go again on another night, but I can't recommend the Sunday night special. Pros: Happening atmosphere, good service, seatd right away. Cons: Sunday night dinner deal... more

Unremarkable but worth a try 3/7/2008

We walked in for a table of two around 8:30pm on a Thursday and only had to wait because the hostess was distracted and snotty (there were two open right in front of us). Although the patio is well-known for being a cute spot, we sat inside and enjoyed the ambiance just the same. Low ceilings, lovely bar, small space--they did a nice renovation. The place smells like delicious Italian food the moment you step in. My only qualms with the outdoor area (from a previous dining experience there) is that smoking is allowed. Isn't the point to get some fresh air? Making my pasta taste like smoke in such a small space is obnoxious. \r \r Our service was refreshingly friendly but also forgetful. (How many times do you need to ask for water and olive oil?) The food arrived with lightning speed.\r \r The mixed greens salad with avocado was bland and dissapointing--they could really revamp that part of the menu. My side of sage-and-cinnamon squash was awesome, decadent, and rich like a dessert. My guest had the sage and butter ravioli which smelled better than it tasted. There's better interpretations of that dish elsewhere in L.A. We ended with the chocolate panna cotta with caramel, which was recommended by the waiter. As expected, it was rich and delicious. The small size is misleading!\r \r Overall, there's *much* better Italian food throughout L.A., such as Il Pastaio, Angelini Osteria, and Enoteca Drago. But if you're in the neighborhood and need a place to drop in, Dominick's couldn't hurt. Pros: Ambiance, side orders, dessert Cons: Hostess, salads, smokers more

GREAT Steak! Beautiful patio. 9/26/2007

Slow to be seated, but very courteous. Beautiful outdoor patio(s) with inviting fireplace, for those rare chilly nights; too bad smoking is allowed, because it is rather closed in. Tasty rice-balls, to die for steak!, fresh & tender baby carrots...all soooo yummy. Pros: Patio, fireplace, STEAK Cons: small space, long wait for seating (even w/ reservation), smokers more

they do brunch now!! so heavenly.. 8/31/2007

Well i've been to Doms for dinner many times but last weekend was my first trip for brunch.. It was so relaxing on the patio in the morning.. Best blueberry pancakes in town.. Wanna come back when i'm hungover as the bloody mary will be sure to cure it!!! Bring ur friends before it gets too crazy.. Pros: thumbs up.. valet, ambience, ny cool more
