Long post, but important info ... Incompetent and horrible! We boarded our dog for a week while on vacation. I noticed that my dog was always out of view of the camera and when...

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/7/2012

Dogtopia is the last place I would take my dogs. The staff is extremely rude, including the owners. The dogs are not treated well at all. When a dog is sick, the owner's of the dog are never notified. Most dogs spend all day in crates, which you are not able to see on their webcams. The female daytime supervisor, Michelle, spends more time outside smoking than anything else. more

They treat customers like dogs too! 11/30/2010

I used to be a huge fan of this place. I hate boarding our dog, Wilson. We rescued him from the New York Avenue Animal Shelter so, the last thing I want to do is put him in a kennel. Dogtopia seemed to be a natural solution for when we needed to go on long trips. After returning home this time, my mom went to pick up Wilson for us. She arrived at 10:04 am and was charged an extra $20 for being 4 minutes late. My mom was really upset, not so much about the charge, but by how she was treated. That's fine, I understand policies. Personally, I would have made an exception since it was raining and my mom got lost--that's just good customer service. Had she done that, I would have been writing a much different review today. I decided to call for clarification, you know to see if my mom was overreacting or being dramatic. Unfortunately, she was not and I soon realized why she was so upset. I explained the situation and asked if there was a way to waive the fee. The supervisor said, ""She should have left sooner if she had never been here,"" I sighed. Even though it was none of her business, I explained that she had to drop off my daughter at school, therefore could not have left any sooner. I told her that given the way she was treating me, I wasn't sure if we would ever bring our dog here again. ""That's fine. Whatever,"" she replied. ""So, you don't care?"" I asked. ""Nope. I can't change our policy."" After I expressed how baffled I was, Michelle just hung up on me. If they can't even treat people with respect and kindness, how are they treating our animals? I am totally bummed that things turned out this way. Like I said, I used to feel good about my dog hanging out here. more

I'm slightly ashamed to admit my dog goes to daycare. I never thought I would be one of those people. But, for a little bit less than what I used to pay a neighborhood girl to let him out during the day, he can go to daycare once a week. I have highly recommended this place to folks. Before going here, we visited another dog daycare facility. It was a nice spring day with temps in the low 70's. The first place we went to had an odor of urine that almost knocked you over when you walked through the door. I can't imagine how it gets in the heat of summer. When we walked into Dogtopia of Dulles, it smelled very nice, so nice, you had to wonder if they actually had dogs there (the barking did give it away). We asked if we could see one of the rooms in the back, and they allowed us to see one that they weren't using at the time. They apologized for how messy it was, but honestly I couldn't see what was messy about it. Even that room, in it's ""messy"" state, smelled nice. My dog has been happily going here for about a year now. He's always excited to go, and worn out when he gets back. The staff are all great, learned who he was quickly, and seem to take good care of him. They even honored the odd request I had a time or two. Pros: Friendly, makes for happy dogs Cons: They do require money. more

Dogtopia Dulles Is Awesome 3/9/2010

Dogtopia Dulles is the best Dog Daycare around! The facility is great with a wide variety of areas for the dogs to play with activities scheduled and plenty of equipment to keep the dogs stimulated. You can watch your dog on their web cams, they feed only the best organic dog food (at no additional charge to your dog if you would like while your dog is in day care or boarding) and MOST IMPORTANTLY they treat my dog like family I trust them with out a doubt in the care of my dogbaby the staff is exceptional and I would never take my business elsewhere. As a matter of fact i sometimes believe my dog likes daycare better then home! Pros: Best Dog Day Care Ever! Cons: My dog might even like daycare better than home! more

Treating Humans is indicative of treating dogs..... 2/28/2010

We had been very happy to find a self service dog wash location out near our home in Ashburn as we used to drive to Alexandria. Then today we took our giant Chow Chow to get her mid winter fluff and buff and was treated so rudely that I was shocked. After spending the better part of an hour getting our dog clean we needed to dry her. There was a grooming table in the room and so my wife went to use it, but the pole that is used to clip the dog to was lying beside it so she went to put it on and a guy came by and said that we weren't allowed to use that. We took it to mean the pole. So we put our dog on the groomer's table and commenced the long process of drying her. After the better part of thirty minutes, and as we were nearing completion, the same guy comes in and yells, ""What part of don't use that don't you understand?"" I was honestly so astounded that I said excuse to which he then repeated the question with even more indignation. At that point I asked his name and he said, ""Art and I am one of the owners."" When my wife apologized and said she thought he meant the pole attachment, he said, ""That is not what I said and that is only meant for the professional groomer."" We quickly took our dog and left. While I was putting my dog in the car, my wife had conversation with a woman who was the other owner and explained that we had never been treated so poorly. When my wife said she expected an apology for the juvenile behavior the woman's response was, ""That won't happen and you should probably go to Barks and Bubbles."" Pros: Didn't run out of hot water Cons: Incredibly rude more
