NOT BAD AT ALL. SAME OWNER/MANAGEMENT, GREAT FOOD, FRIENDLY 5/3/2012

I have been dining at DiHo since 1988 and I have gotten to know the owner and their staff over the years and I truly enjoy their food, service and friendly environment. The food taste great and it's been consistent over the years. I'm sure we all have experienced bad service or service that did not meet our expectation. And I do feel for those that may have experienced such service at DiHo but I can tell you that is a very rare incident and possibly the customer having a bad day and whatever happened that day at DiHo just made it that much worst and thus the harsh comments. During the 24 years I have been dining at this very location, I have yet to once experience anything remotely even close to what has been described by the unhappy patrions. I""m not saying it could never happen. But the people are not bad and they are friendly people. I can't speak for them or make any excuses, and I am not. But patrions should also truly get a good feel for this restaurant with a long history of many happy repeat customers. I have taken many clients and friends and family and so far, I've gotten positive comments and 'thank you's' and not one negative comment. I highly, highly recommend that you try it once and make a sound decision of their delicious food and great people and service. more

Horrible Service With An Attitude! Don't Bother 12/10/2011

My partner and I decided to dine at this restaurant one afternoon and we were blown away by the terrible customer service and bad attitude! An older woman -the owner I assume -- seemed completely annoyed that we were there in the first place. I politely asked for some hot tea while we looked at the menu. For some reason, this really bothered her because she replied with a very sour attitude. I'm quite sure that such a request isn't out of the ordinary at a Chinese restaurant, but she acted like I was demanding something that would be a huge inconvenience for her. It wasn't like the place was packed or even close to being busy. There were only 2 other tables taken. After our meal was served, I asked for chopsticks and she walked away, mimicking me! Or at least that's how it came across. Unbelievable! Another server brought the chopsticks to our table and she was very respectful and friendly. We overheard the cranky woman tell the patrons at the next table that she didn't feel like working today! Too bad she didn't call in sick. It's really a shame because our meal was good, but we will NEVER return due to the rude and disrespectful treatment. I've read other reviews with similar comments about this same woman and can't help but think how much business this restaurant is losing because of of her rude behavior. more

Worst service in Orange County. Shockingly bad. 12/29/2010

I've read a few recent reviews panning this place for service and I could not agree more. My wife and I were here before the Xmas holiday and were totally neglected service-wise. The lady who seems to be the owner was waiting on us... albeit, very poorly. I'm guessing she's too cheap to hire help despite desperately needing it. So we waited over 10 minutes to order, 15 more minutes to get Tom Kha soup and then another 10 minutes to get our meal. Half way through the meal she decided she was hot. So she turned all the ceiling fans in the restaurant on full blast. It was freezing. The table next to us complained to her. Then they complained a second time. The owner let out an audible ""huff"" and turned off the fans, then opened the front door wide open to a 55 degree night. This made it ever colder. The clients were obviously her 2nd priority. When we asked to box up our leftovers it too her nearly 10 minutes to get us boxes. It's not as though a box is non-standard practice in a Thai/Chinese restaurant! Then she brought us a check. But we wanted dessert because they had it advertised on their ""specials"" board when we walked in. She was totally offended that we'd order dessert! You'd think she would have said, ""Gee, thanks for wanting a 3rd course"" but she seemed totally put out by us giving her MORE money. Unbelievable. The dessert was delicious! The food here is almost always tasty. That's what's so damn disappointing about her complete inability to cope with customers. Finally we wanted another box to take home the remainder of the dessert because it was huge and we had a whole meal of take-out at this point. She literally gave my wife a dirty look, turned her back and walked away. As she did this she gave us the ""talk to the hand"" gesture. No kidding, I'm not making this up. We promptly paid the bill, left the dessert behind and got the heck out of there. We have vowed never to return. This was NOT the first time she was rude. The prior visit she was also out of control but this was particularly offensive behavior for a restaurateur. Please do not waste your time going here. You will be better off at Tasty Thai up the street on Lake Forest Blvd or next door at the always-courteous Thanh Binh 2 Vietnamese noodle place. Both are excellent. Neither are rude! more
