Review content:
I've read a few recent reviews panning this place for service and I could not agree more. My wife and I were here before the Xmas holiday and were totally neglected service-wise. The lady who seems to be the owner was waiting on us... albeit, very poorly. I'm guessing she's too cheap to hire help despite desperately needing it. So we waited over 10 minutes to order, 15 more minutes to get Tom Kha soup and then another 10 minutes to get our meal.
Half way through the meal she decided she was hot. So she turned all the ceiling fans in the restaurant on full blast. It was freezing. The table next to us complained to her. Then they complained a second time. The owner let out an audible ""huff"" and turned off the fans, then opened the front door wide open to a 55 degree night. This made it ever colder. The clients were obviously her 2nd priority.
When we asked to box up our leftovers it too her nearly 10 minutes to get us boxes. It's not as though a box is non-standard practice in a Thai/Chinese restaurant! Then she brought us a check. But we wanted dessert because they had it advertised on their ""specials"" board when we walked in.
She was totally offended that we'd order dessert! You'd think she would have said, ""Gee, thanks for wanting a 3rd course"" but she seemed totally put out by us giving her MORE money. Unbelievable. The dessert was delicious! The food here is almost always tasty. That's what's so damn disappointing about her complete inability to cope with customers.
Finally we wanted another box to take home the remainder of the dessert because it was huge and we had a whole meal of take-out at this point. She literally gave my wife a dirty look, turned her back and walked away. As she did this she gave us the ""talk to the hand"" gesture. No kidding, I'm not making this up.
We promptly paid the bill, left the dessert behind and got the heck out of there. We have vowed never to return. This was NOT the first time she was rude. The prior visit she was also out of control but this was particularly offensive behavior for a restaurateur.
Please do not waste your time going here. You will be better off at Tasty Thai up the street on Lake Forest Blvd or next door at the always-courteous Thanh Binh 2 Vietnamese noodle place. Both are excellent. Neither are rude!
