Best

I just cut 11.5"" of hair off to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths and I could not be any happier with my new style. I had been planning to donate for awhile but just didn't hav...

Worst

Over priced they dont do anything special or different. All the stylist cut and dry hair the same way. staff lacks talent. Pros: its on state st Cons: not worth the price

Fabulous experience; luxurious atmosphere; Jason is a great stylist 9/19/2006

From the moment I stepped in I knew that Witchell knows how to treat customers right. The layout of the place is very hip with plenty to look at if you are waiting. I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes (and I was about 10 minutes early). \r My appointment was with Jason B. a ""junior"" stylist who has been with the salon for 5 years. He was amazing. I came in not really knowing what kind of cut I wanted, so we talked about my sense of style and what would look best for my face and less than an hour later voila! he gives me the best hair cut I've ever had! \r Price was between $40-50 (not sure because I purchased some hair product with it that cost at least $10). \r \r I did catch a little attitude from a front desk person--but that's nothing unusual on state street.\r \r If you decide to go to Witchells, I urge you to make an appointment with a junior stylist and save yourself some money. The difference in base-price jumps from junior $40, to senior $90 and you can get your hair styled by Witchell himself for $250 at the lowest. Pros: You can get "senior cut" at half the price by getting it done by a junior stylist! Cons: some attitude, but that comes with almost any luxury. more

Great Boutique!! 9/14/2006

If you go to David J. Witchell you must go to the Boutique upstairs - Amazing stuff and\r the sales girl is very helpful - nothing like it for a special occasion!!!! more

Ignore the front desk and you will love it!!!! 1/13/2006

This is a fantastic salon if you can ignore the utter rudeness that you WILL receive at the front desk. The woman who cut my hair was so patient and attentive, and my hair looked the best it ever has. I, one bride and 6 other bridesmaids, also went there for my friend's wedding and they were GREAT to all of us, and we all got our hair and makeup done. Fun but professional atmosphere. Their tipping method is discreet so it is much more comfortable. If you want a great hair cut, go to David Witchell!! Pros: skilled stylists, fun atmosphere, discreet tipping Cons: front desk staff, pricey more

powder and glue is out 10/24/2005

Best Hair Cut--I ever got! 9/12/2005

The salon is hip and trendy. When you enter the salon, you immediately feel as if you will be transformed by the end of your appointment. I travel over an hour to get the best hair cut that I have ever gotten. At the end of my appointment, I am never disappointed and always feel as if I have been transformed. Lucas at the reception desk is awesome! Even though I only come to the salon once per quarter for a hair cut--he always remembers me and is courteous and friendly. And pretty efficient in scheduling my follow-up appointments. I always leave the salon saying to myself...""This is an awesome haircut!"" Pros: Salon Hours, Awesome Hair Cuts, Friendly Atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

Flippant Attitude 8/22/2005

It's true that they have good stylists and great technicians, and the studio itself is cool. And their prices reflect that. But, the people answering the phones and taking appointments -- and your credit card number -- are flippant and disrespectful. Even the stylists can be snotty sometimes. I believe a great salon experience starts from the time you book your appointment, to the time you walk through the front door, to the time you leave. For most people, going to an expensive salon or spa is about treating yourself to a feel-good experience -- it is about leaving feel really, really great. There are so many great salons out there that offer this. Who needs to be made to feel small after spending hundreds of dollars? Pros: good stylists, good technicians, nice studio Cons: flippant attitude, expensive, disrespectful more

Precise Haircutting 11/19/2004

I am a stickler for a skilled cut, and know from experience how difficult properly trained stylists are to find. Even at the Junior level, I got the best cut I've had in years, for the same price I paid in middle-of-the-road salons. Color was equally impressive, also done by a Junior. They recently renovated and the place looks fantastic. A bit noisy, but a very nice atmosphere. They also stay open til 10 pm 3 nights a week and open at 7 am Saturdays. Not many salons do that. Saturdays can be busy but evening appointments allow for a nice pace, without feeling rushed out of the place. OH - AND THEY NEVER ASKED ME IF I NEEDED ANY HAIR PRODUCTS! Tipping system is very discreet, which I also liked. Pros: skilled staff, nice atmosphere, great hours more

I'm Hooked! 7/2/2003

The salon is great, my stylist Jack was great, and I left very, very impressed. I plan on returning regardless that it was quite expensive. Also going to check out the spa next time. Pros: Jack, Ambiance Cons: somewhat expensive more

Amazing 6/30/2003

I just had such a truly amazing experience at David Witchell's that I had to let others know how I felt. I arrived early and got a foot massage at the spa while I waited. WOW, was that fantastic. Great cut too. I couldn't have been any happier. Pros: Haircut, Massage more
