My friends use city search to find restaurants and other things around town so I was on checking it out and came across all of the great reviews for a salon in Newtown. I read them and called the next day to book an appointment with Jack. He had so many great write ups that I had to see for myself. Well here I am writing a review on a wonderful experience. I made an appointment for a cut and was told I could get a color consultation during my cut. Jack's assistant shampooed my hair and I met Jack. We talked about my hair which I have to say was very ""soccer momish!"" Not anymore!!! I love my cut and the way he styled it I wanted to take him home to do it everyday!! I came over from New Jersey and it was certainly worth the drive. I will be back in a couple of weeks for my next cut and what I'm sure will be an absolutely great color!!! Pros: great style more

Not intimidating afterall 6/16/2008

I recently started getting my hair cut at David Witchell by Jack. My friend has been telling me to get my hair cut by Jack for about two years, but I always felt intimidated. I could kick myself for not going sooner!!! My hair is shoulder length, thick and wavy...At the start of my appointment, Jack and I had a wonderful consultation about my cut. I felt like he was really listening to my concerns and wishes. My hair looked so great when he got done, I felt like going out on the town!! During my cut Jack was suggesting different things I could do with my color. When the summer's over, I'll be in for color along with my cut!!! I highly recommend Jack for a great cut! I love Danielle! 6/14/2008

Danielle is my hair stylist. I have been going to her for a couple of months now and I love what she does to my hair. She always knows what I want and the results are amazing. Besides Danielle being a great stylist, she is also a great person to talk to. I can't see myself going anywhere else. If you are looking for a great salon with friendly employees and a great stylist, I highly recommend Danielle at David Witchell. more

I love getting my hair cut at David Witchell. I've been to several different hair salons, and I finally found one that I love. The girl's at the front desk are very helpful. Jason cuts my hair and he does an amazing job. He cuts it exactly the way I want it and always makes it look better than I pictured in my mind. He takes his time to make sure everything is completely even, and he also takes great care in blowdrying and styling after he cuts it. I never feel rushed and he makes me feel very comfortable. I just moved to the area to be closer to my kids and they surprised me with a gift card to DJW. I took the advice of a reviewer who suggested using Jack as my stylist. What a perfect choice! He was completely booked on the day I showed up for a walk-in but he ended up staying late to fit me in. His skill with both the cut and color were something you would expect to find in NYC or LA. His book is always full so call way in advance, I already booked my next appointment with Jack. Best haircut I have had yet! Pros: Jack's skill more

Finally found a great stylist! 5/15/2008

I have been a client of Jack's for a couple of months now and I am so glad that I went to him after reading all of his rave reviews!! I was looking for a new hairstylist for what seemed like forever but I'm happy to say I've finally found one in Jack. My haircut and color are amazing and I'm even able to do it myself on a daily basis which is a huge plus. I can't get over that people are still complementing me on my hair even as my next appointment approaches. I've never had that experience before. Jack did a great job highlighting and coloring my hair so that it looks natural. I hope my review helps somebody else that is in search of a great hairstylist,,,Jack!!! More than just a haircut...a touch of class 4/21/2008

I recently had my hair cut and colored at DJW and I must say it was a total body experience. From the time I arrived I was treated like royalty by both the staff and especially by my stylist Jack. He was extremely professional and polite, made great small talk with me and not to mention gave me the best cut and color I have ever had. I have been everywhere from NYC to LA and still have yet to have a cut like the one Jack has given me. His skills were something of beauty and natural talent. I went in with only an idea of what I wanted done, he not only helped my achieve that goal but also gave me a new look that is to die for. The color was flawless, I will definitely be booking with Jack for the rest of my cuts. Book him quick ladies and gents, he's always totally booked! more

Best Cut & Color Ever! Jason is a genius!! 4/19/2008

I had my hair cut & colored yesterday at the David Witchell Salon. It was the first time I'd ever been and I was completely impressed. From the second I got there, the feel was first class. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant & accommodating (despite other reviews). I had no idea what I wanted out of my cut or color & Jason was a creative genius. I walked out of there a few hours later feeling like a supermodel! This was by far the best haircut I've ever had in my life & the highlight placement was so perfect for me! I've been stopped & complemented at least 10 times since yesterday and I've been telling everyone about him! I loved the place so much I just made appointments for my mom & future mother-in-law for next week! This place makes my hour drive seem like nothing! You'd be crazy not to go there! Thanks Jason!!! I JUST WANTED TO SAY THE FRONT DESK WAS VERY ACCOMMADTING WHEN I CHECKED IN. I GOT MY HAIR BLOWN OUT BY JACK HE MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS IN MY SALON IN NEW YORK CITY, .IAM VERY PICKY ABOUT MY HAIR AND JACK LISTENED TO ME ,MY LIKES AND DONT LIKES.. Wonderful experiences 3/24/2008

I always enjoy coming to the salon. The staff is very attentive when you arrive. After they check you in, they will take your coat and offer you a bag to put your purse in before entering the floor. They also check to see if you would like a refreshment while waiting for your appointment or while you are processing. I never feel like there is another appointment after me. The staff never rushes your treatment. They give all of their clients careful attention. Danielle is my stylist and I love seeing her every few weeks. I give her an idea of what I want and it always comes out better than I expected. She knows what I like and tells me what will look good on me or will offer me suggestions if she feels something won't look good. If I give her a picture to work off of, it usually looks better than what I gave her! I highly recommend Danielle for your experience. David Witchell is a wonderful place for your next appointment. more

Wow...as always..My hair is fantastic! I just came home from another wonderful experience with Jack, the artiest! What a gifted stylest! (and cute too:)\r With my crazy hair...he does something magical! \r I just wish they would do something about the music...I always tear up...not sure why they play funeral viewing music in such a beautiful hip shop! It never fails...I am memorized by my stylist Jack...and then I think about my Nana...they play the same music from her viewing! Jack is a 10 star, but I suggest bringing your ipod!!!! Although a tad pricey, David Witchell is a great salon. To get the very few cons out of the way I'd like to point out the somewhat rudeness of the front desk employees. They dont seem like they want to be there....ANYWAYS! the pros weigh out the cons. I find myself smiling at the end of my hair appointments due to the satisfaction of the quality of my cut. Especially from Brett. He is very conversive throughout the hair cut so i don't find 1 minute to seem like 1 hour! The employees who do the hair cutting and wash are all very pleasant and friendly...even personal which makes the whole appointment a great experience! I find I want to get more frequent haircuts just to go back to David Witchell. HIGHLY recommended Pros: everything else Cons: front desk more

THE STYLIST ARE ALL VERY NICE. IF YOU SWITCH TO SOMEONE ELSE THEY STILL GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SAY HELLO & THERE IS NEVER A PROBLEM. \r \r THE ONLY THING THAT I HAD A PROBLEM WITH IS THE SCHEDULING. THE FRONT DESK SCREWS UP SOMETIMES. I THOUGHT IT WAS ME BUT I HEARD OTHER PEOPLE SAY THE SAME THING.\r \r ONE OTHER BIT OF ADVISE FOR THE FRONT DESK WOULD BE TO CHANGE THE WAY THEY ANSWER THE PHONE. Great salon, Beautiful boutique! 4/5/2007

I got a great haircut with a jr stylist (Karen) and the cost wasn't much more than other salons. They have great products but they don't push them. I was able to get an appt just a few days in advance and the place is hopping on a Sat but everyone is very nice. The boutique upstairs is amazing but very expensive. I had been to the spa downstairs several yrs ago and remember it being great so I will have to go back and try it again. I would highly recommend this salon! more

Ask for Chris 12/20/2006

The salon is up to the minute with their hair styling & they have so many stylist that you can always get an appointment! I have no problem with the front desk, they have been more then friendly to me. All the stylist are equally good with cut, styling & color. The thing that makes me keep going back is that if you decide to try someone else in the salon, it's fine. I go to Christopher & if I try another stylist he is still as friendly as ever & doesn't make you feel awkward if you see him or go back to him. Also, when you get your receipt everything you had done is listed with the price next to it. Pros: Always can get an appointment, Stylist are equally good, Can try different stylist without feeling awkward, you know you're getting up to the minute hair style Cons: Price is somewhat high more
