Cutting Image Salon

Today was my first visit to Cutting Image Salon. It is near the H H Greg in Gastonia. I have curly hair that has been through some REALLY bad hair cuts over the years. I decided to grow my naturally curly hair out for a year to grow out other stylists mistakes. Nervously went in for an appointment today with Stacia Barnick to get a trim. She was awesome!!!!! She dry cut my curls to give it shape, and did not butcher my hair like other stylists usually do. She gave me exactly what i wanted to leave with. So if you have curly hair I would get your appointment now so she can help you out!!!!! I will never go anywhere else!!!! more

I started going to Cutting Image last year. I have no regrets. My stylist Shannon Braggs delivers the best service everytime. She tries to work around my schedule and will give the best service ever. I have more compliments on my new color (that I have had for a year now) than anything that I have done to my hair. My hair is healthier than it has ever been. Had a great first time visit at Cutting Image Salon in Gastonia. Who would have thought such a upscale salon would be in my own neighborhood. It is like a diamond in the rough. The professionalism from the stylists was outstanding. They were so friendly and really listened to what I was looking for. The stylists here seemed so knowledgeable and confident in the services and products they offer. I can not wait for my next visit to receive highlights. They even offer brow waxes, how convenient is that. more

I must say that for my first time at this salon I am very satisfied. Whitney did an amazing job of cutting and styling my hair with the not so great description I gave her. The layers were perfect and just the overall do was spectacular. I will definitely be returning. Pros: Great service more

Whitney has been doing my hair for 2 years now and does a ""fab"" job! Who ever said that short hair is easy, never had to cut it. There's an art to short hair and I'm very particular about who does my hair....even if they are related to me. If you like trendy, short, cuts with attitude, Whitney can help you out. I called and was able to schedule an appointment on the same day. Salon is upbeat and modern, with sometimes annoying music playing in the background. Stylists are friendly and don't seem stuck-up, as others have noted. Both men and women cut at the salon; I had my hair cut by a stylist named Dustin; he was very skilled and transformed my mangy mop into a great modern, layered cut. I was given a very thorough shampoo and a bit of a head massage, and Dustin listened carefully to my needs, analyzed the photo I brought in, and also took a bit of leeway to decide how the cut would best suit my face. I was very pleased with the result. What's nice is that you can choose how much you're willing to spend on a cut; you can get a haircut for the cheapest amount with a Level 1 stylist, or pay a bit more for a Level 2 stylist, or pay the most for a Level 3 stylist with the most experience. I went with level 2 and was not disappointed. There is the usual hair products sales pitch at the end (and boy, are those products expensive) but it wasn't over the top. The discount here on city search (20% off if you mention citysearch) was very handy, and they gave me 2 more referral cards for 20% discounts for friends. I recommend giving this salon a try. When I was ready to cut my18 inches of hair off to donate to Locks of Love, I had NO CLUE what to do! Luckily, I met Aubry. She was able to listen to what I want, trouble shoot thru potential outcomes and do it in a friendly, professional manner. I LOVED my cut and color! Since then I have made several changes to the color (I get a little more venterous as I get more comfortable). She is always willing to ""drop back and punt"" to figure out how to make the changes to both make me happy as well as preserve the integrity of my hair. I would HIGHLY recommend her, especially to young adults. She is, herself, young and a little wild...so she gets it. However, she is able to restrain herself and let the client do what they want to do! Great experiences! I LOVE my haircut! It is the best one I think I have ever had....all thanks to Brooke at Cutting Image Salon. She listened to me and gave me the hair cut I wanted. On my first visit.....Had my hair colored/highlighted/cut and styled by Jeska. She's fun, very pleasant, attentive to my wishes and cares about her clients...she offered me the opportunity of coming back for help in styling if I had any problems doing it myself at home. She goes to NYC for class on a regular basis to keep up to date.....happy with my new ""do."" Would highly recommend Cutting Image for a confident stylist to meet your ever hair need. I have been a client since they opened up. Just like anyone, you are hesistant to try someone and some place new. My thoughts were... try it, hair grows back and the half price offer was enticing. I made the right choice . I was not completely satified with results in the beginning, but Cutting Image did offer to correct the minor issues I had. Their senior stylist Tia come on her day off to correct a coloring mishap. From the moment the doors opened at the Gastonia salon, I was one of the first customers in the door. I was referred there by a friend, and TIa was my stylist, she made my normally dull hair awesome. I have never had so many compliments about my hair. I am a very loyal customer and have referred all of my friends there. We all love the service and the professional environment. I would strongly recommend that if you want a style from the best to go see Tia..... she is awesome. My only suggestion for the business would be that a receptionist is needed, it is very busy and often my stylist had to stop working on me to run the front desk which i thought was very inconvenient. Other than that I thoroughly enjoy going to Cutting Image, this is by far the most upscale salon in town. Pros: Tia is an awesome stylist. Great style and skills, with reasonable prices. I did not go to the Salon in Gastonia, instead I received a flyer for the new one opening in ParkTowne Village. I'll admit I was skeptical about going to a place giving away free haircuts, I wasn't sure if I would have a ""beauty school experience (disaster)"" or what i would walk out of there looking like. But I was very surprised with the place. My stylist was very knowledgable, very confident cutting my curly hair, and actually happy to do it. They used Tigi products, which i love, and my stylist knew which shampoo would work with my unruly hair. The cut was great, and she even showed me a new way to style it, having me practice while i was there to be sure i would be comfortable doing it at home. The stylists all seem to work together well and enjoy their jobs, the place was clean and simply decorated, with striking photography on the walls, and location is perfect, nestled between Massage Envy, a yoga place, and a nail salon. When I made my appointment, I only had the information from this site and the printable coupon in hand. We were greeted after a moment by a really nice young lady, who stuck me as pretty new to the whole ""salon"" atmosphere. I had made an appointment for both myself and my [teenage] daughter, and I went first. My stylist was a gentleman named Senj, who was really friendly, but very quiet. I wasn't able to describe the cut I wanted very well, and he did give me a very precise version of what I tried to explain. It's a bit shorter than I care for, but it's entirely my fault for being so vague. My daughter went next, and they chatted about what she wanted. She asked for purple highlights, but the settled on a red/light blonde combination that ended up looking AMAZING on my daughter. He said with her skin & eyes it was what he thought would be most flattering. It did take quite a while - we were there 4.5 hours all together - but the cut and color she received was well worth it! She looks stunning, and I am happy with my cut, in that it's well-done, and hey, hair grows, right? I will probably go back - even though they are opening a salon closer to my home, I really liked Senj, and will make the drive from SouthEnd to Gastonia to be his client.
