I dont agree with the people writing bad reviews!! 4/29/2011

I never had bought a cupcake outside a grocery store until I moved to Vegas. I heard a lot of GREAT reviews about the Cupcakery. A friend of mine brought in a dozen to work one day and I must say Fell IN LOVE. The icing is stacked on but not overpowering in sweetness. Since then I have been to the Cupcakery as much as possible buying a 1/2 dozen just for myself. The people who wrote those bad reviews must be the pocket pinchers who end up buying the day old cupcakes they sell for half price because of the ""Day old."" They have a sign that clearly states ""Discount cupcakes are a day old."" So I believe that is your fault for not forking up the extra buck to eat a fresh made cupcake. You shouldnt write bad review over it. more

Loved the Cupcakery 2/10/2011

Not THAT bad.... 5/26/2009

I just had one this past Memorial Day weekend, and it didn't taste dry like everyone says. Course I wouldn't necessarily RAVE about it as being the best I've eaten either. It was good and tasty, but a bit sweet in the frosting. I usually love cupcake frosting, but there's so much of it, and it was so sweet, that I ended up with some frosting left at the end that I didn't eat all of. Pros: Its OK in taste, and pretty... Cons: It's expensive more

Yuck 3/31/2009

I recently bought some cupcakes here and was highly disappointed. The decoration was gaudy and overdone, something a second grader would make. $2.75 a cupcake!! For what? The cakes were stale and obviously previously frozen. There is more moisture out in the desert than in these cakes. They crumbled like sawdust when I peeled off the paper. I don't think that the staff has any supervision, they seem to do what they please and are the rudest retail people I've ever come across. I've heard the Cupcakery started off well, but I just don't see what the hype is about. The other reviewer was right, I peeked in the dumpster next to the store and saw carrot cake mix and white cake mix bags. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: dry, frozen, from a box, rude staff, frosting too sweet more

Culinary Student Says... 2/8/2009

Not worth it. I enjoy baking and I loved all my culinary classes that had to do with baking. I know what a good cake should taste like and these are less than good. If I turned in something with the texture and taste of The Cupcakery cupcakes I would receive a ""C"", no doubt. The cakes just aren't moist. Don't know how else to say it. They obviously have some talented people decorating these. They are above average on looks! (hence the 2 stars instead of 1) but just going on taste, which is the important thing, I would have to pass. Pros: Neat Presentation Cons: Taste more

Sad but true dry dry dry 1/30/2009

I wasn't going to write this review but after reading some of the others, I feel I must. I was one of the first to try the Cupcakery when they opened and I raved about them. Not I only rant. After about 6 months of being opened the quality dropped drastically. It has never recovered. I don?t know if it is freezing or if it is the mix. Alot of the top bakeries freeze their cakes for a short period; they stay fresher and are easer to decorate. Something has changed; sadly it shows in what they sell and how they sell. Some of the worse customer service I have ever experienced, in both locations! I miss the days of three partners. Maybe that is it, the quality left with them. ( it's ok, I found another place to satisfy my needs). This is also a very honest review, not a friend or an enemy. Pros: hummmm Cons: The partners left more

IT IS TRUE ABOUT THE FREEZING!!!!! 1/27/2009

I already wrote a review for the other one but I will share my opinion here too! My friend said that he found out from one of the girls there that they freeze the cupcakes. Then somebody who works there ot owns the store (are they a franchise?) said that they don't. Well it is TRUE!!! they FREEZE THE CUPCAKES and then sell the days later. Also, that person said they are made from scratch... WRONG! They are made from a mix. You can check the dumpster anytime and see the big bags of cake mix they use. NOT FLOUR AND SUGAR... CAKE MIX!!!!!! So they lied about that too. I am mostly ticked off because they charge $3 for a frozen, box mix cupcake and somehow keep a straight face. I think that is horrible. I will not go back there and my friend was not lying. Just wanted to clear that up. FROZEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and from a MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they tell you different they are lying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: okay for FROZEN AND FROM A MIX Cons: FROZEN and FROM A MIX more

I read the reviews... 1/26/2009

...and decided to try it for myself. There are planty of 5 star and 1 star ratings, so I was curious why such a big gap in opinion. Well, I have to say I agree with the 1 star votes. The store was cute. The cupcakes themselves were cute. However, the staff was not helpful and the taste of the cakes were DRY! Just as other reviewers had said. The cakes crumbled once out of the wrapper. Not sure why they were dry because if you look at the bottom of the wrappers they are soaked in oil. I couldn't figure it out but then again I am not an expert. Just know how I like to be treated when I go into a new place, which is warm and welcome. DID NOT GET THAT HERE! As for the product, yes the frosting was sweet and smooth but the cakes were really bad. I will NOT be returning. Pros: Frosting Cons: Dry Cakes, awful service more

These Cupcakes speak for themselves!! 1/15/2009

FOR REAL!!! Do not pay attention to the ""FREEZE THE CAKES"" comment. Its obviously someone who is in competition with this place. Its probably the same person who posted the same comments on the same day about both stores in Vegas....get a LIFE!! SERIOUSLY!!! That's pretty bad when you have to post nasty comments about a CUPCAKE shop...its a CUPCAKE shop...not a restaurant. Everyone loves desserts, how can you speak ugly about it unless you have a competitive interest? And they DO have the best cupcakes in Vegas. Try it for yourself...the products ALWAYS speak for themselves. They're moist, flavorful, reasonably priced (check out New York's prices) and DAMNNN GOOOOD!!!! Stop in and try them. They have 18 different flavors. Might I suggest the MOJ. Its the Mounds of Joy...ummm ummm goooood!!!! Pros: Variety of flavors. Cons: There are none!! more

OH MY GOD! 1/15/2009

Oh my god, these cupcakes are fantastic! All my clients and I appreciate these cupcakes like no other. They say the Red Velvet is the best seller, and I highly agree. The cream cheese frosting is delicious. I am a regular customer and everytime I go in there, the lovely lady at the counter always remembers my order and is very helpful. Pros: Red Velvet Cons: I have yet to find one more

This is Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y!!! 1/14/2009

Unless you're out there looking for cheap grocery store cupcakes that have no flavor you have to get these cupcakes! I vacationed in Vegas last month and heard about the Cupcakery through friends. So I decided to try it out. I'm glad I did! I'm always on the lookout for sweet treats wherever I go and this place was great. This isn't your normal store bought treats that leave your mouth dry or a waxy-film in it ...its real stuff!! If you don't believe me, try it for yourself. Their frostings were creamy and full of flavor. The red velvet was to die for...I haven't tried a red velvet cake like this anywhere! Their chocolate passion was phenomenal too! The cakes were unbelievably moist! It was so good I took a dozen with me on the plane. If you truly want great cupcakes, go to this place. I've traveled to different places and have tried many cakes (my waistline can attest to that) but the cupcakes here are by far the best in quality and taste. You really need to try it. You won't regret it!! Pros: Quality cupcakes. Great service. Cute shop. Cons: Only 3 locations. more

Ahh, AMAZING!!! 1/14/2009

wow! these little cupcakes are amazing. ever since I found out about this place, I continue to drive all the way from california for them because I cant seem to get enough! and its well worth it for only $2.75 a piece. my favorite? ALL OF THEM! each time I have to bring at least 1 dozen back to share with everyone else! PLEASE OPEN ONE IN CALIFORNIA, WE NEED A GOOD CUPCAKE PLACE LIKE THE CUPCAKERY! Pros: cute store, delicious taste, price... Cons: not close enough to me:( more

THEY FREEZE THE CAKES!!!!! 1/10/2009

I just found out that they freeze the cupcakes for days before frosting them and selling them... At $2.75... what a joke. If I am going to pay that price I would like something fresh... Which is what they told me I was buying... Pros: Red Velvet Cons: THEY FREEZE THE CAKES... It is NOT fresh baked... Liars! more

Great Cupcakes but bad service 10/21/2008

I live close to the Cupcakery and love the cupcakes!!!! They are perfect to give for a little gift or a great treat for yourself. I have tried every different flavor and I have my favorites but hated the Kir Royal, it's a raspberry cupcake with champagne frosting-couldn't even eat it but we all have our own opinions. As far as the cupcakes go, they are great and I would love to give the Cupcakery a 5 star but the service is what brings this place down. The staff is very unfriendly, not mean but they seem like they are always grouchy or disinterested. I think that the owner of the establishment should find an entire new staff and maybe could earn back some of the business they have lost because of poor customer service. Cupcakes are suppose to fun and make you happy, not dread buying them. more

Such a joke! 10/15/2008

So after reading about the Cupcakery in the Review Journal I decided to give them a try. Silly, silly me. The staff was beyond rude and acted as though they were doing me a favor by serving me! As for the cupcakes, they tasted as though they were left over from the day before and the frosting was beyond overpowering. The bakery was decorated okay but the customer service was subpar and the cupcakes were terrible. They didn't even taste like they were made from scratch! DON'T BOTHER GOING - Save your money! The Cupcakery should be called the CRAPcakery. Cons: EVERYTHING! THe Cupcakery is a CON! more

no the best around, rude, dry cakes. 9/15/2008

I went to the cupcakery because I heard they were the best in Ls Vegas. Let me tell you, these cupcakes are not only dry and tastless in the cake, but the frosting is to overpowering and sweet. I have had way better cupcakes, and these were not one of the best! Pros: cute shop Cons: bad customer service, overpriced and low quality taste more

Just an average cupcake 6/13/2008

The cupcakes are nicely decorated & the shop is cute. However, the cupcakes are very dry with frosting that is overpowering. I have tried each flavor they have to offer. My cupcakes out of the box are tasties. The staff is extremely rude. I give this one star. DO NOT waste your time or money on these cupcakes! Pros: cupcakes are cute, shop is clean & cute. Cons: too expensive, dry cupcakes, rude staff more

Don't eat it!!!! 6/11/2008

I used to live in LA and Spinkles in Beverly Hills has the best in the west coast. The cupcakery makes cute cupcakes and have a great presentation but they taste not bad ... but very very bland! I love red velet cupcakes... They're my favorite but Red Velet at cupcakery... Yuck!! They taste like cardboard!! Don't go here... There are other great bakeries in Vegas and The Cupcakery is not one of them! Cons: Too pricey for quality!! more

they're cute...that's about it 4/22/2008

well first it would be nice to have a welcoming feel in a cupcake store...but no not here. the staff was not friendly, and i have been there on at least 3 occasions and it was the same each time. i wanted to give it 3 chances before i formulated my opinion and this was my conclusion. yeah they're cute, we get it...but for almost 3 dollars a cupcake they should taste just as good. i purchased a dozen for my office at 10 am and by 2 pm they were stale and had no flavor. after prying off the 5 inches of thick cream the actual cake part was dry and completely flavorless.... and the same thing happened both other times i bought them. they get dry and stale and the frosting does the same. definitely will not be returning, nor recommending. Pros: nice to look at Cons: taste like cardboard more

The best cupcakes in Las Vegas!

Owner Message
  • The best little cupcakes in Vegas belong to Pamela Jenkins.

As owner of The Cupcakery, Las Vegas' premiere cupcake bakery, Jenkins has perfected the most nostalgic and favorite treat, the cupcake. With sophisticated flavors such as the Kir Royale and Chocolate Passion, the cupcake is no longer for children only.

Two years ago, at 25 years of age, Jenkins left a great job as an executive assistant to Timothy Poster, chairman and CEO of the Golden Nugget casino, to pursue her own business with two colleagues. The idea came during a particularly slow day in the office after reading about a lady in San Francisco selling homemade cupcakes out of her car. With the rise of cupcake bake shops across the country, Jenkins knew the cupcake business would be a sure hit in the Las Vegas valley. The doors opened in January 2006 and in the first year of business The Cupcakery sold more than 275,000 cupcakes.

Jenkins, who was born and raised in Jacksboro, Texas, studied in New York City, Spain, Argentina, and has traveled the globe. She is a total foodie, loving to visit the culinary establishments of Vegas. When Jenkins is not spending time creating new cupcake recipes, she spends time with her three dogs Josephine, Tora, and Calypso, riding horses and doing Bikram Yoga. Jenkins gets a kick out of being affectionately called Cupcake around town.

Jenkins hopes to open other boutique businesses, including a store for her own clothing designs which she currently sells to friends. Her future goal for The Cupcakery is to expand in both Las Vegas and nationwide. In Spring 2007, Jenkins bought out her original partners and teamed up with her Uncle Ricky. They are now conquering the cupcake world together, one city at a time.
