EXCELLENT service - first time customer! 12/2/2012

I took my car to Culver Automotive after receiving several estimates for body work on my car that had been hit in the rear by another driver. I had never used this business before but am SO glad I chose them to repair my car! Dimitry provided me with an estimate which was actually the LOWEST out of 5 body shops I took my car to that day (he wasn't aware of the other estimates). The fact that it was the lowest priced estimate was not the reason for my decision to have the work done there as the other insurance company had already given me the "ok" to take it to any of the 5 shops I provided estimates for. Since I had never done business with any of the 5 shops I took my car to for estimates, I based my decision on the fact I like to give local businesses my $ and Culver Automotive was the only body shop in Culver City I'd obtained an estimate from. I, also, saw they had an excellent reputation with the BBB! Dimitry offered to provide a free loaner car, if needed - amazing! I didn't happen to need a loaner but it was nice to know he offers that to his customers! I told him I'd check back in a few days with him after talking to the other party's insurance carrier that would be paying for the damages. I called this week and said I'd like to bring the car in - he immediately asked if I needed a rental and also asked if I needed a ride. (I didn't, but I DID appreciate the offers!). He said it would take 2 full days for the repairs....I took my car in on Wednesday A.M. (11/28/12)....The following day around 1pm he called to inform me my car was ready!! Unbelievably fast turnaround!! When I picked the car up, I was VERY pleased - it looked like a brand new car! And, to top it off, my car had been washed - even though the weather was rainy! I found Dimitry to be SO professional, super nice and willing to answer any questions I had. He, also, said when I picked up my car that if I ever have ANY questions at all about my car, I can call him at anytime. I honestly can't recall when I've been this impressed with a business -- so much so that this is my very first Yelp review!. It is definitely refreshing in this day and age when so many OTHER businesses and/or their employees don't know what GREAT customer service is! I would recommend this business to family, friends & anyone else based on my experience! Additionally, the next time I need any "service" on my car, I will definitely call Dimitry! If I could give this business 15 stars i would!!! I'm a VERY happy new customer! Courteous, reliable, ethical, honest, fast. 8/30/2012

I have gone to Culver Automotive for over 10 years. I always get a quick diagnosis and a really good explanation as to what the problem is. There was one instance where something went wrong in my car that turned out to be a factory recall. He could have made $1700 from the repair but told me to go to Honda and get it replaced by them under warranty. I always get honest, ethical service from Dimitry. When I go to get an oil change he tells me if I have work that needs to be done now, or if there is something that can wait a while before it gets fixed. more

They've just done minor things for me, like an oil change, but never repair work. I haven't got a lot of experience with them. They seem to be organized, and the other people there when I'm there seem to be happy with them. They definitely get a lot of business. more

My biggest, major experience with Culver Automotive was after my wife almost totaled her car. It was a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid, and the insurance wouldn't total it, so we had to have it repaired. We took it to Dimitry, and he guaranteed that it would come out as good as new. He fought very hard for us. The insurance kept saying no, no, no, this or that doesn't need to be done, but Dimitry insisted that certain things had to be repaired or straightened out. He went after the insurance, and in the end, he was right. The car came out in very good condition, and everything works now. What more can you say? more

Long story short, Culver Automotive said they could do the same service for my Mercedes that my dealer could do for cheaper. I paid for what I thought was a full annual service and told them beforehand that I had noticed a squeaking noise, but they said they hadn't noticed it after the service. A year later, I brought the car back and paid for the service again. I mentioned to them that the noise was still occurring, and it turned out that it was a mechanical fault in the brake caliper. My dealership said they completely ripped me off and only gave me an oil change, which I could have done at the elsewhere for much less. They didn't do my brake fluid, they didn't notice the safety recall, they didn't re-balance my tires, and they sold me an unnecessary air filter. Now there's a big likelihood that since the problem didn't get noticed the first time, I'm going to have to pay for the brake replacement myself, since so much time has passed. I'm not happy with Culver Automotive, and I think they owe me some money back. As my dealership said, they royally ripped me off. more

Rip Off and Incompetent 4/19/2012

Do not go to this place unless you like to be ripped off. I took my car to this place and the owner insisted I needed a lot of additional things to make my car better. After his 4th email he jacked the price to triple where he started. The car came back worse than when I brought it in. Went back 5 times to see if he could resolve the problem he created on my car and he couldn't figure it out. He refused to refund any money he gouged me for. After taking car to another mechanic to properly fix his problem, the new mechanic explained that the majority of work that Culver Auto did was not needed and furthermore priced at about triple the going rate. I am needing to go to court to resolve this. The owner is a complete jerk on top of it all. more
