PLS DONT BOOK A PARTY 9/20/2010

I never write reviews but today I will cos its worth mentioning ppl. I booked a 'table' for my bday party for around 10-15 ppl (equal mixed guys n girls). Booked wit 'showtime entertainment' which i had to say at the door. Booked thru a guy called DENNIS (6467398219)- PLS DO NOT ARRANGE wit this dude. He told me i had a $300 table booked for one bottle n that he'd allow 5 guys in (girls were free on fri). Then I even called him on the day to make sure everything was ok which he said jus come before 12. So i did. With my guests. Next thing u know, they booked me for TABLE ONLY ie. NO FREAKIN SEATS!!!!! What kinda club does that???!?!??!?!?! Who pays for jus a table, i'd rather jus stand and drink as normal then in a regular setting. So i called him up while i waited in line. He starts patronizing me n sayin 'darling i told u it was JUST table'.....Dennis ruined my party. I had to pay DOUBLE the price i.e. $600 jus to get the stupid seats. Please do NOT enter this sh@* hole. I made the most out of it only cos it was my only birthday in nyc but i really did get ripped off. I also think they are racist towards asians. They made my friend try n pay $40 cos his ID expired....lame bouncers. Plus, they pretend like its a happenin sophisticated club by kickin ppl out if u jus accidently fall (like they think ur too drunk). NOT WORTH IT. more

DON'T Book Your Party Here! 5/30/2010

I made the horrible mistake of throwing a party at Crimson with my coworkers. I made reservations for bottle service. When I arrived at 11 the place wasn't even open yet. I was the only person waiting in the bottle service line, but the regular guest line got in faster than I did. I work with several women and was having just a few men attend, but I was told that since I was getting bottle service, the first 8 men who came and used my name at the door would get in free. There were 4 men and the staff only let one of them in for free. Then 2 of them weren't allowed in the VIP area until they tipped the bouncers $20 each, after already paying $20 at the door. After that, it really went downhill. The place got crowded and people were spilling drinks everywhere. One of my coworkers was wearing heels and she slipped and fell. Two bouncers came over and grabbed her as we were helping her get up. We tried telling them that the floor was slippery and that's why she fell, but they wouldn't listen. The female bouncer then put my friends hands behind her back like she was being arrested and dragged her out of the VIP section and down the stairs. We were all appalled and one of my friends went outside to talk to them. She asked for the manager. She told him very politely that the situation was handled wrongly and that if they had to kick her out, they should have let her get her bag and walk her out instead of treating her like she was a criminal. The manager said he disagreed with her and then said that she was also barred from the club!! PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT BOOK A PARTY HERE! The staff is rude, classless, and they don't treat VIP's like they are really VIP. I will never go here again, it was a waste of money. Pros: decor is okay. Cons: terrible management, staff more

Don't do it to yourself 12/26/2008

I went to Strata on a Saturday night in October '08 for the first time for a friend's birthday party. I spent an hour and a half on line and it's a good thing that I knew a few people and was able to cut the line or else I doubt I would have got in at all. I got to the club about 11:30 and there was a line down to the next corner. Upon finally entering the club I receieve the most agressive pat-down I've ever had in my life. Then I was told of the $25 cover charge. My friend's guestlist was closed by the time I got in. I only spent half an hour in the club but it was very lame. The music was decent but the crowd was young and pretentious. There was a main room with hip-hop and a side room with salsa. Both weren't that crowded to where the line had to be down to the next corner. I'd say this club is NOT worth the price of admission. It's a place where people who've just turned 21 can't wait to spend their money at to brag to their friends that they went to. Pros: DJ was decent Cons: Absurd line and waiting time. Price, Crowd, Security, Etc... more

Low class, horrible customer service, bad music, rude bouncers, trashy! 12/1/2008

I regularly attend parties in the city. Unfortunately, it is inevitable to come across low lifes and people with no class. This past weekend I went to Gramercy Room to celebrate a friends b-day. I knew one of promoters, he saw me standing in line and called out to me and got me to front door. I really don't like cutting in line but the line wasnt' too long and it was close to 2 am. So i walk up to the door where there are two ladies sitting with a guest list. They got upset and starting saying "why can't they wait in line, they're nobodies"..blah blah blah.. I can understand them being upset becuz i know someone who could get me in but to complain so loudly that other club goers were disgusted in the way they regarded me and my friend was uncalled for. I kept thinking be calm and don't make a fool of myself by trying to intereact with these two low life smuts that are sitting in front of the clubbing trying to work a guest list for $40 a night. I can honestly say I will never go back there again.Customer service should always be of the up-most importance, apparently these two cent PUTAS didn't understand that rule of business. Once inside the club there were so many suspcious looking characters, ugly waitresses, no room to really walk, smelly and disgusting bathrooms and people openly smoking and snorting! I couldn't believe. The bouncers just looked the other way. a big thumbs down! more

cool staff, great music, nice place 8/30/2008

I went to Strata last saturday for a friend bday and was amazed by the cocktail waitresses. Theses girls are amazingly fun and friendly. The service was fast, she did make sure to check on us all the time. I will recommend this place for a bday party because they do treat you like VIP. The place wasn't packed but we had a lot of fun. The waitress really put the touch Pros: good staff Cons: none more

Had a great time... 7/10/2008

I held my birthday party here at Strata and don't see what all the negative comments are about. It's a very typical NYC nightclub, with tight security at the door and average service. My friends and I had a great time- the music was hot, the place was bumping. We didn't have a difficult time getting in, but that's because we arrived early (around 10:45 PM). Yes, it did get very crowded after that, and the drinks are pricey, but it's an NYC club. If you want service completely catered to you go somewhere else out of the city, otherwise, this spot was hot! Pros: Hot music, great dancing Cons: service more

Go Elsewhere!!!! 6/14/2008

I have been to Strata twice and both times I was unimpressed, more like disgusted by the place. I went the first time a few years ago for a friend's birthday and, though the music was good, I thought that the crowd left much to be desired. I went again last night, for another birthday party, and was simply awed at the low class people, service and ambience at this place. We were on a guest list and after we gave our names and got some tickets, we still had to pay a $20 cover charge. The people there were absolutely unclassy and rude. There was even a fight , apparently a guy hadn't paid his child support and the girl caught him out!! I mean COME ON!!!!!!! I am not one of those upper east side snobs, however, the people that go to this place seem a bit too street and dangerous for my taste. Anyhow, my recommendation is: if you are looking for a good time where you don't want to be afraid of a shoot out at any second, stay away from this place!!! Pros: Good location! Cons: Everything else! more

What's worse than Terrible? 3/23/2008

I've been to a lot of parties as well as hosted a lot of parties in Manhattan. Never found a reason to write up a negative compaint about a venue. Went here this past Saturday for a friend's birthday party. What a cheap excuse for a club! The bouncers were rude and disrespectful. The club itself is sectioned off into two rooms, and my friend's tables were in the room where every other table was roped off for "VIP", which I don't even know what that means, seeing as how my friend paid a lot of money to reserve his tables. They only played music on one side of the club, the crowd was pretentious, and drinks were absurdley priced. Our Long Islands tasted more like Nestea than anything. We had a guestlist that was supposed to allow guys in at reduced admission until midnight. A few guy friends of our came at 11:40 and was asked to pay full cover! Just plain terrible all around. Pros: Easy to find Cons: EVERYTHING! Prices of drinks, bouncers, overall set-up, ability to keep promises more

GOOD MUSIC...HOT GIRLS....BEST BARTENDERS IN NYC.. 3/2/2008

I had heard STRATA,has one of the longest running saturday nite partys in NYC.I decided to check it out with some of my friends. We got there early...12:00 AM,the place was half empty. At 2:00 AM the place was packed and jammin...The music was pretty good, the women were hot but the best thing about the place were the drinks....man the bartender that served us allnite sure knows how to make a drink...I read the previous revue andthe person was complaing about spending 25 dollars...Its 2008 ...everthing is exspensive in NYC....if you dont have 25 bucks to spend maybe you should stay at home and buy a 40.. I had a great time and would recommend a saturday nite at STRATA to any one looking to have a great time on a saturday nite...... Pros: MUSIC....DRINKS....WOMEN Cons: SHOULD BE OPEN AFTER 4 AM more

Horrible spot 1/25/2008

I had the feeling I was at a high school gym party. Very hood for the website to be so upscale and "professional" The staff their was HORRIBLE....... You treat everyone like the hood and thats when they will act like the hood. I am about to call the GM and maybe pitch in some reccomendations. This is by far the worst club in NYC/ SC/ ATL/ NC I have been. Once again the staff was very unprofessional! Pros: Exterior is nice Cons: Staff service is horrible more

This place isn't the place to go if you want to meet classy and good looking people. 1/2/2008

A co-worker had a little get together with some of his friend at this place. Although there was a guest list and were told the place would be open at 10:00 when we got there we had to stand in line for almost an hour even our co-work who book it had to wait outside on line in the cold. Finally, after an hour they began to let people in. While we were standing on line there was a group of guys who were dress in street clothes were allowed to go in. (and they said this place had class, yeah ok) We finally got inside it was practically empty and every where was roped off for VIP. Eventhough, there was no VIP guest. No one is allow upstairs because it for VIP and they even roped off a section of the downstairs. What a joke. You are only allowed upstairs if you are checking in your coat which we didn't do. My friend and I decided to get a drink. I went to get us some drink two white Russians and the bartender told us he didn't have cream. I then ordered another drink and the price was outrageous I ended up almost spending 25 dollars on two drinks that was really watered down. Don't get me wrong we know drink are expensive in New York and my friends and i aren't cheap my all mean we make good money but you should of to pay outrageous prices for water down drinks. My co-worker finally got a table because he bought a bottle. We got to the table and a fews hours later people we didn't know started sitting at our table which was ok with us but they didn't even ask. Then two kid and play wanna be came in and started dancing which was fun until two skanks join them and started acting like the skanks they are. Me and my friend decided to go some where else where we had a better time. If you are looking to have a good time stay way, but if you like low class and skanks by all mean go and enjoy. The music was good and the place had a nice ambiance, but we could do without the low life running around in that place. Pros: Deco Cons: Over price drinks and low class people more

Cool Place 9/3/2007

I went with a bunch of people to strata on Saturday and actually had a good time!! I was a little scared in going because of all the reviews that I read at citysearch. The music was good. I didn't like the fact that they didn't play alot of latin music but I see why (different cultures and ethnics). The drinks were a bit expensive and there werent any good deals in regards to purchasing bottles. I also saw a giant insect in the ladies bathroom..pretty gross! I have to admit though that I had a good time. I probably would go back again. Pros: fun place Cons: insect in the ladies bathroom more

A must go to ;) 8/30/2007

Awesome music and really nice staff. Not the usual hassle for a large club. It was easy to get in and start partying! Great experience that I highly recommend. more

Great dance spot 6/11/2007

I?ve been to Strata on a couple of occasions and I can say that it is one of my favorite dance spots. Saturday nights are it if you are looking for great dancing. My girlfriends and I love it. Both current and old school music is thrown at you and you are always surprised with that track you used to love back in the day. Hip hop, R&B, reggae, reggeaton, and even salsa and merengue go down on the weekends. The drinks are good, not watered down at all, and the staff is not obnoxious. There is always a long line, so either get there a bit early or expect to stand there over 20mins. It?s a big place and even though it gets packed, it doesn?t feel like you can?t breathe. If you want to get a table at the VIP area it?s cool, but you?ll probably end up coming down to the dance floor where it all goes down. I really don?t know why certain people have had bad experiences there, but I can only speak for mine. By the way guys, we girls appreciate the dress code since we dress to impress and expect the same. So, if you are looking for a hot place to see hot people and dance to hot music, Strata it is. Pros: great music, hot people, good drinks more

What at great time!!! 2/6/2007

I went to Strata on a Saturday night to celebrate my friends birthday and had a unforgetable time. We were on Eric Virgils guest list and they took care of us right away. The venue was beautiful and had a great sound system. The DJ was phenominal and the crowd was spectacular. The women were very seductive and appealing. The door staff was very professional and curtious. The wait staff also made sure we were being well taken care of when we reserved our table. I would definitely reccomend Strata to others. Pros: Great music Cons: Get there early to avoid the crowds outside more

Partygoers beware! 1/30/2007

me and my girlsfreinds went here on saturday and got push around. there were fights everywhere. i was promised by one of the main promoters Eric Virgil i would get in free and not have to wait on the long line. When I got to the line after waitng a long time the door guy was very disrepectful to me and my freind. I think his name was dave. what a A HOLE!!! he must hate is life. then when we ask the door girl for our tickets she tells us its $20. WTF!!!!! then she gives us attitude and does not hear us out. what a lil B*tch. then we get yell by some big fat , big headed short bouncer. Look we are leadies and do not deserve to be yelled at by fatso. What a horrible experience . we havent even set foot in the club yet!!!! Party Goers beware. ERIC VIRGIL is MthaFKER! his partys are wack and dangerous. We were treated horrible, the staff is mean and harrashing. This club is not worth it and the drinks are too exspensive and weak. take the party somewhere else. Maybe blvd> Sorry for the blast but you need to treat the ladies right and clean up your staff especaily fatso bouncer!!!!! more

NEEDS WHOLE NEW STAFF 1/13/2007

If this club hopes to stay open much longer, they need to fire their whole bouncer staff!!!!!!! We went to this club for my girls 30th Birthday Party on 1/13/07.. We arrived maybe 11 pm.. The line wasnt so bad, but after waiting for 15 minutes, One of the very nasty bouncers told single ladies and couples to move up. we then moved out of our spot, came to the front to where they told us to get back in line, not only was the line all the way down the block, we lost our spot online! I could go on and on about the happenings of attempting to get in this club.. But Why bother? Basically my friends bday party was ruined.. If you are looking for a good night out DONT go to Strata!!!! Cause you will be disappointed! more

Best place to face harassment in NYC - Worst staff I have ever seen 12/23/2006

The bouncers at this place believe that female guests are their personal property and they can touch them and harass them. One of their bouncers was hitting on a gal. She was not interested in him and started talking to my friend. The jealous bouncer started accusing my friend of spiking girl's drink. He and other bouncers dragged him out and strip searched him in front of public. Of course they didn't find anything. Bottomline - GIRLS DON'T GO THERE, THIER STAFF WOULD MISBEHAVE WITH YOU AND START TOUCHING YOU. GUYS DON'T GO THERE, THEIR STAFF WOULD HARASS YOU IF YOU TALK TO A GIRL. If the management wants to save this place they need to fire all the bouncers here. Pros: NONE Cons: Pathetic staff. Love to harass thier guests. more

Don't expect much 11/24/2006

I went to Strata on a Friday night in mid August. Although I was told its free for women before 12:30...my friends and I ended up having to pay $10 to get in. The club itself is aesthetically pleasing but that's about it. There were WAY (!!!) too many people crammed into it and so there was virtually no space to move in any kind of way. Definitely not good if you like to dance and the DJ wasn't playing that great of a set anyway. Basically a bunch of people dressed to the nines roaming around the club and trying to be seen. Also, the lighting is horrible...its constantly flashing in your eyes and you can't really see anyone. You could have much more fun somewhere else. Pros: Attractive Cons: no space, lighting, music, crowd more
