If you are looking for a great time with good music and beautiful people this is where you want to be on a Saturday night. I always end up having a great time at Strata without fail. The DJ plays everything from Hip-hop and R&B to Freestyle, house and Reggaeton. The staff is upbeat and friendly which is hard to find now a days. ME AND A FEW FRIENDS WENT TO STRATA ON SATURDAY NIGHT, 6/17/06, AND HAD AN AWESOME TIME. WE GOT THERE ABOUT 11:30PM AND WERE ON THE GUESTLIST, SO WE ALL GOT IN FOR FREE...GREAT START TO THE NIGHT. THE BARTENDERS WERE VERY GENEROUS WITH THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL THEY POURED INTO OUR DRINKS, UNLIKE MOST BARTENDERS... WHEN YOU ASK FOR A CRANBERRY AND VODKA, & ITS ALLLL CRANBERRY! Saturdays at Strata is without question a playhouse. I was pleasantly surprised with the club, although there was the normal headache of pushy bouncers and lines. My guests and I were happy with our party bookings. Our gueslist was honored as per what the promoters whom I spoke with promised. It was a fun filled evening to be around a group of young urban professionals and an arrays of other sorts and blend. The music was great and energetic !!! and the best of it all were the bountiful and plentiful amunt of women is this place WOW !!!!!!. What did catch me off guard was the frisk and the partgoers who I overheard arguing about trying to get 25people at a table for 2 bottles(WOW BARGAIN BILLIES). We saw that Strata had negative reviews for its nightclub scene out of every previous review on Citysearch, yet chalked it up to isolated incidents. Unfortunately, this optimism was definitely foolish. We purchased several bottles for a birthday and were told we would be seated in the VIP room. Then we were told we had to move because we had too many people per bottle, despite the fact that we already moved the extra people out and asked if the remaining people would be able to at least finish drinking and then leave. They said they would move us to tables downstairs but that never happened because there was no service there. So we were walking around with bottles in our hands and then the bouncers downstairs were telling us we couldn't carry bottles around like that! Ridiculous. Believe the negative reviews on the night scene, they are for real. more

While the venue itself is setup nicely, the staff is completely horrible. I am friends with a promoter and had a guestlist for my birthday. We arrived at 11pm and waited on line until about 12 before they started letting anyone in. Out of the 50 people in my party (mostly females also), they allowed 5 in at first. The rest of my party was on line for another half hour at least. The bouncers were out to make their own money by only letting people in that paid them off. With this kind of service and so many other places in NY that are just as good or better, I can't believe they're not out of business yet. This place's staff members are total jerks. From the moment you set foot into the place, the doorman greets you and gives you commands. Although they carry some high end liquor, they do not know how to make cocktails. The staff members were really doing a great job sabotaging the image of the place by treating customers like that. The decoration and atmosphere is nice, they need to do a fundamental change in the service. The bartenders were ignorant and do not pay attention to what you order. They make you repeat your order. Would not go here unless you really want to deal with a terrible attitude staff and spend whole a lot of money. WHATEVER YOU DO STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! Strata. It needs a slight makeover not with the beautiful interior, but with the ugly exterior composed of snotty bouncers and stuck up promoters. We are visiting new york and were looking for a little casual nightlife. The dj sucked. The frisker was over the top and made our whole group feel uncomfortable. We had no idea why there were so many people inside. We tried to enjoy ourselves dancing but the dj had no idea what he was doing. Cons: DJ sucked, drinks were not good more

Though the place itself was alright inside, the service at the door makes it NOT worth the hassle. The staff was rude & thought they could yell at the crowd who has them in business. They severely lacked customer service skills & the bouncers made it clear they wanted $$$ to let people in. We reserved seating & bottles 2celebrate a birthday 2prevent the madness we encountered but we still paid extra 2get in. 1/2 of our friends were told 2wait online unless they paid the bouncers. We were at their mercy. Sadly enough, the promoter had no control over this unacceptable behavior, which makes the business look bad & the promoters powerless to take care of the people theyre supposed to be accommodating. The impoliteness of the staff makes it one of NYs WORST spots so dont waste your time and go somewhere where your business will be appreciated! I can't comment on the restaurant as I didn't go there for dinner but I would like to opine about customer service (or severe lackthereof) with regards to the nightclub. Despite the fact that a friend of mine had spoken with the manager and promoter to organize a b'day party there with an advertised open from 10-11, our entire group (which got there promptly at 9:30) was forced to wait online for no reason whatsoever (the place was EMPTY inside) in the freezing cold. I think you can see where this is going. We could see we were going to be allowed entry just precisely as the open bar ended and men were forced to pay a cover. Bouncers were unbelievably rude and promoter borderline brain-dead. Why do people insist on keeping these places in business? Hopefully this eyesore will leave my neighborhood soon enough. Strata's new Chef Mike Kaphan is truly amazing. My family enjoyed him at Zoe in SOHO, and when we learned he had taken the reigns at Strata we just had to check it out. I suppose you would call it comfort food, Strata does not disappoint, and Kaphan adds yet another notch to his already impressive career. What an oasis! Strata's casual yet unique menu, along with the gorgeous new decor make for a great spot for a dinner for two, or for a group of 20. I will recommend this place to anyone looking to escape the busy streets and unwind in a beautiful yet affordable atmosphere. The one con was the fennel salad (I should have paid closer attention to the menu)... could have done without the aged Spanish goat cheese. I really enjoyed Strata it's a wonderful place to eat at and enjoy the atmosphere it creates. I was hanging out in the city with some of my friends and we noticed the restaurant and decided to try it out. The food was great and service is excellent.
