Cottman Transmission Center

There are good people at Cottman Transmission Center. They had to fix the transmission in my van, and everything is working great. It was my first time using them and I checked around about the price, and it was right in the ballpark. I just talked to the front end guy and he was good--and everything was well explained. I would use them again. It's just that my van was in the shop for a couple weeks. Luckily I didn't need it that much, but two weeks seems pretty long. But, the service and the end result is that everything is great. more

I had heard about Cottman Transmission Center through word of mouth. I went to them to have my transmission rebuilt. I thought that their pricing was competitive. They seemed like an honest company: honest work, honest prices.They kept in good communication and updated me while they were working on my vehicle. They completed the job on time. I had no problem with their workmanship and was very satisfied. I would use them again if I needed to. more

I was referred to Cottman by Midas because the problem I described over the phone sounded like a transmission problem to them. I called at the end of my work day expecting to get a recording but got a person. I described my problem to the person on the phone and he said bring the car over and he will take a look. When I got to the shop, it was dark. He was closed but stayed there because I am a teacher and he knew I could not come during the day. He drove my car around the parking lot, put it in the bay, lifted up the hood and discovered my problem. It was not a transmission problem at all but he stuck with it until he found the problem. It was a fixable problem and he even looked up the part number for me.\r \r He went above and beyond. He was courteous, honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend Cottman Transmission. more

I called a lot of places when my transmission gave out and Cottman Transmission Center had the best prices. They got the work done in a timely manner and the transmission is still running, so these guys know what they are doing. more

I went to Cottman Transmission Center to have my transmission rebuilt. Tom the manger, let me know what was going on and worked with me to get my transmission rebuilt. It was expensive but he was able to give me some discounts here and there. He gave me a good price so I went for it. He also was able to replace my timing belt, they usually don't do timing belts but the price was cheaper than at other mechanics. After the work was done my car started acting up. I thought it was the transmission so I took it back to the shop. It turns out that while installing the timing belt they had broken the camshaft sensor which fell off after a couple of days of driving. Since they realized it was their fault they replaced the camshaft sensor at no charge. I actually got a call just a few days ago from them they wanted to make sure the car was working properly and just checking in with me. Great customer service! more

I was an employee at Cottoman for a total of 1 month working under Tim Crawford ( which is a good guy)..Never had one problem the entire time under Tim Crawford. I have been doing mechanic work for over 15yrs. owning my own business. Jody ( the assistant) came in to work our Greensboro shop for 2 weeks. During this time Jody did not like me as a BLACK GUY. He address me as BOY over an over. When I didn't like it, I came to work that Monday and Iwas terminated.. Just on the assumption he ( Jody) didn't like my work, mind you I had already been there a month working under Tim Crawford without any problems. Jody does NOT talk to Black customers in a professional manner. I feel it is really degrading and I felt offended I was terminated because I didn't like being called BOY. I took my vehicle to Cottman Transmission Center with one problem, which they were going to fix. As they got into it, they realized what I had them look at was not the problem, and I'd have to take it elsewhere. They put everything back together very quickly, knowing that I was trying to get out of town. It was above and beyond the call -- they didn't take advantage of me. I hope I don't need that kind of service again; but if I did, I'd go to them! more

Cottman Transmission Center is wonderful. The whole staff is extremely competent and helpful. They rebuilt my transmission and completed the work with great care, on time as expected. The price was very competitive and they were very responsive from start to finish. My car is now running like a champ. more

I used Cottman Transmission Center for the first time, and I would definitely recommend them! My transmission broke down one morning when I was heading to work just before one of the massive snowstorms we had this winter. Cottman was able to get to my car really quickly. Despite the road closings and bad weather, they were able to get the car back to me really fast. They did a fine job, and the car has been great ever since! They were good about explaining what they were doing and why. They also were willing to help me diagnose an unrelated problem the car was having while they had it. They did that work for free, which was great. more

Cottman Transmission Center really worked with us to help us out and they did the best they could do to make it easy for us. Our TrailBlazer's transmission went out and we know nothing about cars. We originally took it to the dealership that cost $80 just to look at it. They also found a problem with the brake pads and rotors and altogether, it would cost $5500 to fix it all. I called Cottman and the guy there took the time to talk to me. I gave him the background on what happened and asked him if what the dealership was asking for was high. He told me he couldn't give me an exact estimate (which was cool--I wasn't expecting one) but he told me that he could get a truck to pick up the car and take a look at it at no charge which I appreciated. A lot of places will charge you just to take a look at the car. After he took a look at it, he gave me an estimate of $3400 which saved me $2100 from the original price at the dealership. Cottman really helped us out with the price and even threw in a 2-year warranty instead of giving us the standard 1-year. He had us come back in two weeks just to check and make sure everything was running smoothly. He was fair, upfront, and honest. He was very friendly compared to the dealership. They were nice until I said that I thought the price was too high and then he started to get very condescending and derogatory. The guys at Cottman were never condescending. They were very open with everything they planned to do. I would definitely go back for any future issues. I used Cottman Transmission Center for the first time. I thought my transmission would need to be replaced or require extensive work. But it turned out it was the motor mount, which was about 20 percent of what the cost could have been. So they were really honest. more

I had my 03 f250 experience some sudden transmission problems just before the holidays and needed to have it repaired. My auto dealer's service contract directed me to cottman. After having issues withe the contract, TIM was willing to work with me until i could get alternate means to cover the cost without complaint. The contact between tim and me was excellent. He kept me aware of all issues and let me know of all progress. I highly recommend them for any transmission or other needed repairs. more

I went to the Cottman Transmission Center for transmission repair and was very pleased. I had good service and have no complaints. He even called back after a month, wanted to know if I was doing okay, and everything was running fine. I wasn't expecting a return call so I thought that was nice of him. more

I started having issues with my transmission and did not know what to do. I searched for local transmission places, read their reviews and called them. After the person that answered the phone asked me to discribe the issue he recommended I bring in my vehicle as soon as possible. I explained that this was my only car and he told me about a local rental company they deal with and I made arangements with them for transportation until Cottman could look at our vehicle. We got a call later that day explaining what was wrong and what they had to do. Luckily I did not need a new transmission.. They wrer upfront and honest. They explained what needed to be doned and how a transmission worked with parts in their lobby. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is having transmission issues. more

We took our '98 Honda Passport into Cottman Transmission Center for a bad clunking noise in the transmission. We were assuming the worst. They actually replaced the intake manifold and fixed the running problem as well as the transmission problem. We were very pleased with the service, the cost, and their honesty quite honestly. The employees were perfect. I had never heard of Cottman, but saw their website and read their reviews, which were all very good. Basically, I was very pleased with the follow up and everything else they did for us. They gave me a price quote and actually came in under it. more
