I would highly recommend Cottman Transmission of Greensboro. My transmission went out, so it needed to be rebuilt, and I went there because they were recommended to me. Mr. Rob was very informative and helpful. I have a service agreement and I had an issue with the people paying up, but Mr. Rob was very professional and worked well with me. I am very pleased with the service I received there. As for their price for value, I did not compare prices, but it seemed fair to me. I was having problems with my transmission , and didn't know who to take my car to. I searched online and came across Cottman Transmissions. I read the reviews and was impressed with what I read, so I gave them a call. The guy (Jody) I spoke with was very helpful. I described to him what was going on with my car and he knew what I was talking about right off the back. He was very friendly and polite. I was very comfortable that he knew what he was talking about and could fix my car. I took my car to him the very next day and he fixed it within a timely manner. Very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place. more

Had this shop replace my transmission and it failed a few months after. They refuse to honor there warranty but instead want to charge for a new transmission. Contact with this shop is unprofessional and not customer friendly. Shop still unable to work with customer after numerous complaints to Cottman headquarters and BBB. I would highly recommend getting your transmission work done at another location. Stay away from Cottman. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of service at this "business". more

I arrived at Cottman after trying another service which really didn't give me that confident feel. After talking to Jody I felt confident that he would do what he said and he did. He repaired my car and explained to me what happened and what he fixed. He even showed me the broken part. If you have transmission problems call cottman first. more

Cottman Transmission Greensboro was real timely and very good. I think they had a very nice and clean-looking facility. I felt like they pay attention to what they are doing and care how it comes across to others. In my particular case, I needed them to repair a car one of my children drives. I didn't want to put much money into it, just enough to keep it safe and satisfactory. I appreciated how they dealt with me and I would absolutely go back. more

I think they were very thorough in fixing the problem in my car. A lot of times a transmission place will tell you that you need a brand new transmission, but that was not the case with Cottman. I have not had any problems since the service was done. Fred is a very good guy to work with. When I called in, I liked the way he handled me over the phone and decided to go to them. more

The gentleman, Jody, from Cottman Transmission Greensboro was very nice. He showed me what was wrong and it made sense to me. The thing that sticks our for me about my first experience there, was the way I was treated. Usually, when you go into a shop, as a woman, they'll try to pull things over on you. I felt like I could trust him and what he said. That means a lot to me. I've been back since that first time because I appreciated the treatment I received there. Cottman gives me a time as to when things should or will be done. They are very nice and courteous there. I definitely will be back! more

Can I give Cottman Transmission a 6 for communication? Their communication is definitely what brought me back as a returning customer. They take the time to actually tell you what is wrong with your car and why it is wrong. Other shops just try to sell you stuff. I will definitely be using them again. more

I broke down, so I stopped at a gas station for some help because I didn't know what was wrong with the car. They said it was probably the transmission, so they sent me to Cottman, and they said it wasn't my transmission, it was my clutch. It cost a lot less money, and they fixed it within one day! I had my car back in one day, which is very important because it's my only source of transportation. I highly recommend Cottman! Just recently I called them, crying, because my car almost blew up. They are the only ones I rely on right now as far as auto mechanics go. They did such a great job! It turned out to be my heat pump, and they fixed it. I had my car back in 4 hours, and I had literally drove in there with it hot as can be. I'm a nurse, and I drive for a living because I'm an in-home nurse. I have to have my car fixed, and when it breaks down I need it immediately. I have never had to wait with Cottman. I would highly recommend them to anybody. more

I deal with all the auto repairs, and I've gone to many different shops and always felt the mechanics were very condescending to me and I hate taking my car for repairs or service. Somebody referred me to Cottman's Transmission Greensboro so I decided to try them out. Honestly, my very first experience there wasn't very good. I took my car there to be serviced and the next day it was leaking all over the place! I was pretty livid. However, when I took it back to them, Jody was very apologetic and took it right in. I was ready to go all "New Yorker" on him, but he completely stood behind his work and handled it like a professional. That was my very first time, and it would have been my last if he hadn't taken responsibility for it and fixed it. That was over two years ago, and now I wouldn't go anywhere else! Jody is great! He takes time to explain things to me and is never condescending. I never get the feeling that he's trying to push anything over on me. I always feel like I'm getting a fair deal and that they are honest and not trying to take advantage of me. They always go above and beyond for their customers and are willing to help me any way they can or to answer any questions I might have. They really know what they're doing there and I don't get the feeling their just guessing their way through repairs. I highly recommend them to anybody! more

My 94 Nissan minivan was having a problem changing gears. I hoped it was minor but my worst fears were realized when Jody told me I had to have my transmission rebuilt. That meant my savings would be gone and as a single mom, that hurt alot. But when I got my vehicle back, it ran just like it did when it was brand new. These guys even went above and beyond by taking care of the little extras. I have a warranty and feel completely comfortable that my teenaged son can drive this vehicle & I don't have to worry about the transmission letting him down. The customer service was exceptional & I am a stickler for customer service. Money well spent. more

Thank you!!! The first transmission shop I went to in Greensboro told me I would have to pay $1400 to rebuild my transmission. Because I am (sadly) familiar with getting car work done, I took it to Cottmans for that classic second opinion. Not only did they let me know that they would never be able to *properly* rebuild a Saturn transmission for only $1400, but they also did a free inspection and found out that the only problem was a leak of fluid. For a fraction of my original fear, Jody and team replaced the transmission pan, fluid and filter, and got me and my husband on the road for our Thanksgiving vacation. Somehow or another we got a hole in our transmission fluid pan. It was leaking fluid like it had been stabbed. A friend knocked on our door in the morning and told us about it. I called everywhere and no one had the part that I needed. We were desperate because it is our only means of transportation, and I needed to go to work. I called Cottman Transmission and talked to Jody. He asked me if I was sure that it was a hole, and when I told him yes, he said to come on in and he would give me a new pan. I was so thankful, not only did he have the part, which nobody had, he gave it to me. I was going to have to spend our rent money to pay for the part, and he just gave it to me. As soon as we get some money there are some things our car needs, and this is absolutely where I want to take my car. I tell everyone, even at work, about Cottman Transmission. If there is any place I would want to go, this would be it for me. more

I initially thought I had a transmission problem on my 1995 Chevy Tahoe. I did some trouble shooting myself, and in the process talked to several transmission shops, Cottman Transmission included. I liked the answers I got from Jody at Cottman better than anyone else. Before I took it in I realized that I wasn't having a transmission problem. However, I decided I wanted the fluids changed anyway so I took it in to Cottman Transmission. They took very good care of me. I really liked that Jody gave me such straight answers.
