Cottman Transmission Center really worked with us to help us out and they did the best they could do to make it easy for us.
Our TrailBlazer's transmission went out and we know nothing about cars. We originally took it to the dealership that cost $80 just to look at it. They also found a problem with the brake pads and rotors and altogether, it would cost $5500 to fix it all. I called Cottman and the guy there took the time to talk to me. I gave him the background on what happened and asked him if what the dealership was asking for was high. He told me he couldn't give me an exact estimate (which was cool--I wasn't expecting one) but he told me that he could get a truck to pick up the car and take a look at it at no charge which I appreciated. A lot of places will charge you just to take a look at the car.
After he took a look at it, he gave me an estimate of $3400 which saved me $2100 from the original price at the dealership. Cottman really helped us out with the price and even threw in a 2-year warranty instead of giving us the standard 1-year. He had us come back in two weeks just to check and make sure everything was running smoothly.
He was fair, upfront, and honest. He was very friendly compared to the dealership. They were nice until I said that I thought the price was too high and then he started to get very condescending and derogatory. The guys at Cottman were never condescending. They were very open with everything they planned to do. I would definitely go back for any future issues.
