A Tough Day Made a Little Easier by These Wonderful People 12/26/2010

I would rate this practice 10 stars if I could. On Christmas morning we rushed Oscar, my beloved 10-year-old diabetic bichon, here a week after emergency bladder surgery at another local vet. It had been a very difficult week for him and his recovery was going very poorly; unable to eat much or keep down the medications prescribed (with not much help from that vet either, but that's another story). By the time we got to the emergency clinic, he was in a very bad way--seriously dehydrated and, it turned out, in end-stage renal failure (kidneys) and had developed pancreatitis. This is not a story that ends well, sad to say. But the vets and entire staff at the clinic couldn't have been nicer or more caring or understanding when we brought him in, and he received the very best of care while he was there. Great Place 3/3/2010

I have taken 3 dogs here. Although they dont let you in the room, this place is still good. They are very flexible with payments, which is good when your on a budget. I have kept a good standing with them and have always made my payments. I know if anything happens I can go here and not worry about dishes out all my money at once. more

Animal Emergency Clinic is there when you need them. 6/19/2009

I had a great experience at the Animal Emergency Clinic. I choose to think of them as a M.A.S.H. unit for pets. They are open 24 hours daily and are performing a service Vets do not. In an emergency, they are there.I found them to be very empathetic and caring both for our pet Rodman and ourselves.They diagnosed our dog correctly and tried a couple of times to help him without the need for surgery. The Vet on staff explained the problem and yes, Rodman did need surgery. If your pet needs emergency care, I would recommend Emergency Care in Crystal Lake. The pricing for the services they render seemed fair to me. Emergency Care is going to be a little more expensive than a Vet Visit, but so is a trip to the hospital more expensive than a Doctor.I saw a few negative reviews-there are two sides to a story. My Story - Emergency Treatment of my cat. 3/31/2009

Unsure really. What concerned me was that my cat was diagnosed in another room without my being present. They seem very high, at least higher than my vet but they are open 24 hours - 7 days a week. It's emergency care.\r \r They seem a little more interested in their profits and I didn't get a normal sense of compassion for my pet as when I take him to our regular vet in Huntley.\r \r I could not afford to keep my pet alive and had to put him down instead. My choice.\r \r I do believe these vets need to tone down their expenses and get back to the cause of affordable realistic levels of care of a pet or a lot more owners will be having to make the decision I had to make.\r \r Not many people have thousands of dollars available to save a cat and I'm not so sure it should cost that much to insert a tube and run an IV. Hopefully I'm not out of line here. more

Mixed feelings about practice 2/2/2006

In an emergency, I brought my dog here. They helped her recover from a life-threatening condition, but while she was hospitalized I felt like I had to pull teeth to get information from the techs. Unfortunately, she was quarantined so we couldn't go there to visit and ask questions in person. The techs gave conflicting information from call to call (which was especially disturbing since we couldn't physically be with her). The bill was huge, but I can't speak to it because I don't know what most of the items are or if everything was necessary (it would have been nice if someone reviewed it during or after her hospitalization). They did help her recover, and my dog is healthy again, which is the most important thing. And in an emergency, it's better to have their care than nothing at all. For a serious or chronic illness (if it's not a rush-to-the-hospital situation), I would choose to go elsewhere. PROS: Saved my dog CONS: Questions as to quality of care more
