Choosing a doctor can be risky or sometimes lucky 12/6/2009

Reading the other reviews regarding Dr. Koltzova-Rang, I find that choosing a doctor can sometimes be a problem for some individuals. What works for one individual might not be workable for another individual. Doctors are individuals, with their own personality and bed side manner. If these individuals were not able to work with Dr. Koltzova-Rang, or felt uncomfortable with her there are other doctors to choose from. Choosing a doctor is a very personal connection between two individuals. I happen to like her and she has treated me respectfully and has never been condesending. It is unfair to say that Dr. Koltzova is not qualified as a doctor because I found that she is a very good doctor who has to deal with difficult individuals at times. If you do not like her then choose another doctor who you can work with. My spouse and I both have her as a doctor and we are both happy to have her as a doctor. Pros: Treated well by staff and doctor Cons: none at this time more

Never again. 1/28/2009

Dr.Koltzova-Rang has not been very compassionate to me. Unfortunately she has been impatient, cold, and patronizing. The last time I saw her will be the last. I went to her for help, and I left feeling really sad. If she did answer one of my questions it was minimal and she made me feel like my questions were insignificant. She ended our appointment by mumbling as she walked out the door ""I'll call you with your test results"" no goodbye, take care, do you have any more questions or anything like that, I wasn't even sure if she was coming back. I felt very uncomfortable there. She also complained about me to another colleague while we were all in the elevator, because I made her late for her lunch break. That was just mean. I'm just trying to help other people avoid this kind of experience. I hope I can find a doctor I can trust and who cares about my well-being. more

Don't go to this doctor 4/17/2008

There is absolutely no way to see the doctor when I need, only for the annual exam. I don?t see any point to keep her as primary care physician. When I had some problems she even didn?t talk to me over the phone, I was told by her staff to go to the emergency room? Pros: She?s a knowledgeable doctor. Cons: She doesn't care about her patients, no way to get an urgent appointment more

terrible staff, spent days fixing a bill! 3/21/2008

I have been to several doctors in the Bay area and have to admit this is the worst experience I have had. Do not go to this office. I went to get a routine physical, provided insurance information, and had lab work done. After a month I received bills from the lab, a bill I shouldn't have received since I had insurance. I called the insurance company who said that the doctor's office never filed the paperwork. I called the office. They admitted they lost the paperwork and had to file it again. I thought it was taken care of. This week I received another bill. I talked to the staff (who were rude and unresponsive) who said that I was mistaken, yet they had never bothered to follow-up and call the insurance company. The insurance company told me that the paperwork was never filed. The office is poorly run, inefficient, and the staff rude. Do not go here. There are many better options. Pros: bedside manner Cons: billing, office staff, and thoroughness in patient care more

Dr Koltzova - an immensely capable Primary Care Physician 10/3/2007

Everyone is entitled to one's own opinion, but NOT to proclaim that a personal experience is the basis for generalized facts.\r \r My own personal experience is as follows: \r Dr Koltzova has been my PCP for 4 months. During that time she has shown consistently high standards of professional care and concern. She is immensely likable, able to strike that fine balance of professional distance yet being personal in nature, a balance that seems so elusive to many other doctors I've encountered. \r She has given me tremendous confidence in her diagnosis, and I feel truly fortunate to be under her care. Pros: Compassionate, efficient, open, capable Cons: Appointments don't always start on time, but when good people are in short supply that's often the case more

The Worst Doctor 9/3/2007

I agree with Rich's review. Had similar problems with Dr. Koltzova and her staff. By the way, she swings things around and against the patient to get out of blame for herself. Do not trust her. Also, does not understand what it is like to take care of a terminally ill parent. more

A true health care provider 2/6/2007

Yulia Koltzova is a phenomenal doctor. She is smart, compassionate and tenacious. She treats everyone with dignity and respect. Pros: works in a practice with oncologists more

Great Doctor! 1/29/2007

Dr. Koltzova has been my primary care for the past three years. Each visit has been a joy. She is thorough, she listens to me !, and has always returned phone calls when I have questions. Her staff has been friendly and efficient. I have had an unfortunate medical scenario, she walked me through it and made sure I got the care I needed. She went above and beyond any other Dr. I have ever seen. She rocks! more

Best primary care physician I've ever had. 6/27/2006

When she asks how you are, she really means it. She's very good at reading people. She's extremely thorough with exams, phoning in perscriptions and tests. She also takes great pride in doing the office referrals which is what medicine is about these days - paperwork! She also highly respected and well liked by my other doctors which is great if you need... that's right, referrals! She could have gotten me in the next day to one of The City's best Ortho's (They do the SF Ballet and numerous athletes) if needed. (Luckily it wasn't needed!) more

Poor minimal care 5/17/2006

After a rushed multiple minute visit, my wife was sent to the lab for blood tests which Koltzova said she would receive in 2 days. In pain, my wife kept checking with the office and was always told they were still waiting on getting the test back. After 2 weeks another doctor asked the hospital about the results and were told they had been ready for some time. Dr. Koltzova finally called about my wife's result. Although, the test showed fairly major results, Dr. Koltzova just left a very brief voicemail saying the results showed something and my wife should see a specialist. No explanation of the results was given. We asked for my wife's records from Koltzova's office so we could bring them to another doctor. After going back and forth with an uncooperative staff, we finally received her records and saw that Koltzova had written absolutely no notes. Pros: medical degree Cons: minimal consultation, lack of explanation, no treatment discussi more
