OVER CHARGED! 7/26/2011

They charged me $442 to replace a capacitor. It turns out that this is an $85 part that everyone else charges $185 to replace (Basically $99 service call plus part cost) Huge rip off compared to other companies. RESPONSE FROM Cogburn's Service General: I understand how Mrs. Hoisington feels. Especially in this economy. I did discover that to most companies this would have been an after hours call. We carry two options for this repair a 1yr warranty and a 5yr warranty. I made a few phone calls and found out that the average repair cost for the 1yr repair was $311.92 our 1yr repair is $289. Mrs. Hoisington opted for the 5yr repair warranty at $442. Capacitor failures can cause expensive motor failures. The better component is always the better option. If this capacitor fails within 5yrs I feel Mrs. Hoisington will say to herself, "I made the right decision." more

Never been so impressed - now a customer for life! 7/13/2011

My air conditioner died on a 102 degree day - I called at 6:30 pm and got a response right away. David said he had two other jobs ahead of me, but if I wanted he WOULD be there that night. He arrived about 10:45 pm and worked until 12:30 am - with a flashlight! He was professional, polite and turned a horrible day into a good experience. Cogburns - you should know this is a fabulous employee and he represents you very well. more

Would NOT call them 7/12/2011

I have a 5 month old and a two year old. My husband is gone two weeks a month. I had just put him on a plane, it was 100 degrees out, the baby was crying, the toddler was whining. Cogburn's rep. told me my 2.5 ton unit would need "at least 20 pounds" of refrigerant and that my 7 year old unit really needed to be changed out. Estimates were from $1500-3500. My mom sent her a/c guys out who fixed me up for $660. Apparently, a 2.5 ton unit only holds 5-7 lbs. of refrigerant AND I only paid $16 a pound for it, not the Cogburn-quoted price of $50 per lb. Also, my unit is fine. Does not need replacing. Don't call Cogburn. RESPONSE FROM Cogburn's Service General: I understand how Mrs. Wristen feels. It's hot, my kids are screaming and I need relief NOW!. Our tech was out after hours and the correct repair needed was more than adding refrigerant. The refrigerant line had been cut, lost all of the refigerant and possible pulled contaminates into the system. If not properly dealt with will shorten the life of the compressor. Our service manager called her first thing the next morning with a more exact repair cost. He left a message but never heard back from her until today in this review. I apologize that we failed at providing less than stellar service. Our customer care department will be in touch to see if there is anything we can do to earn your business back. Refused service after saying they would come 6/20/2011

These guys are something else. First, they say that they will come out perform an AC inspection, then they call back a few hours later saying that they are refusing me service. What a crew, can't keep their word! RESPONSE FROM Cogburn's Service General: Mr. Stockton lives in an apartment complex. We have to be authorized by the owners to go on thier premises. We had to refuse service once we discovered where he lived. more

I would recommend Cogburn's. The gentleman came out, we discussed my air conditioning needs, and he was pretty thorough in terms of the way he explained things, and he was very personable. I actually ended up picking another company, but it wasn't because I didn't like them or the way they presented the information. Overall, I would have had no problems. If I had a neighbor who had air conditioning needs, I would definitely tell them to at least talk to Cogburn's because they represent themselves extremely well. It was a very difficult decision between them and another company, and I just went with somebody else. Mike Marzett more

Regular Service Maintenance Yields a Surprise . . . 12/6/2010

I have my unit serviced twice yearly, and although it is a new unit, technician Mark Rose's considerable experience enabled him to pinpoint a problem which may well have been undetectable to another technician. Mark was fast, efficient and extremely knowledgeable. Moreover, he was very adept at explaining the problem in an manner which was concise and extremely easy to understand. He was everything you should expect a service technician. Ask for Mark Rose when you schedule your appointment. I have used Cogburn's for several year now and they've always provided quick efficient service. Although the office staff does seem a bit disorganized and always has difficulty finding the appropriate, accurate paperwork whenever I call to make an appointment, they do nevertheless, in the end, always get it right. Otherwise, the staff and the technicians are always very professional, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend this company as maintaining quality standards which are well above average. more
