Happy Patient. 9/19/2011

I love Coffee Road Animal Hospital. The office is clean and DOES NOT SMELL LIKE ANIMAL WASTE. I have had animals my whole life. I was in 4-H and FFA in high school. I have raised both small and large animals. I know what a good Vet is, and these are great Vets!!! No one ever complains about the cost of a human doctor! If you can't afford the cost to care for your animal, there is pet insurance that can be bought. more

Beware of Dr. Hammond- Go To NOTR Vet Hospital 4/15/2011

Dr. Hammond misdiagnosed my beloved lab/pit mix. She was bleeding out of her hind end. He examined her, and then gave this diagnosis? "She is overweight, and so she is chafing inside." \r \r About six weeks later, when she was clearly in pain, I took her to North of the River Vet Hospital. There, Dr. Virga immediately took an X-ray. It showed that there were enormous cancerous tumors throughout her body. \r \r Why didn't Hammond take a simple X-ray? His failure to use an obviously important diagnostic tool may have cost my dogs weeks and weeks of unnecessary pain. Dogs are so good at hiding pain--who knows how much she suffered. \r \r I lost her three weeks after the Dr. Virga's diagnosis. He was great: he made sure that she could be very comfortable at home with me for those precious weeks, and when the time came, he gave us a quiet room in which to say goodbye. He was very patient, and that meant everything. \r \r Afterwards, I receive a rose and a beautiful card. It meant so much. more

Surprise charge 11/2/2010

Went to get my dog tested for heartworms and get his kennel cough shot so I can take him to the groomers. I told them I'd prefer to be in the room w/ him since when he got microchipped 2 months ago, he was pretty scared. I went into the room and was met by the vet. She told me a little about why you need heartworm protection and then looked at my dog's eyes, mouth, ears and checked his heartrate. It took all about 2 mins. Then he got his blood drawn and then the shot. As I was checking out, they had charged me for a "wellness exam" for an add'l $35. I was not expecting that as I had expressed initially upon check in that I was trying to keep costs down and asked if i really needed to do the heartworm testing and how much the meds were, etc. (hint, I don't want to pay for anything that's not absolutely needed). more

teeth cleaning turns into injury 7/25/2010

I took my cat in for a teeth simple teeth cleaning. When I picked him up he seemed like he was in pain. He would not eat. Then the next day I noticed that his tongue was sticking out of his mouth and he was making awful sounds. I tried to look in his mouth and noticed a huge cut on the back of his tongue. It looked very swollen and perhaps becoming infected. I phoned them and asked why no one had told me they cut his tongue. They passed the phone around for a bit, and would not admit blame. They were very rude and heartless. I took my kitty else where, he had to be placed on antibiotics. My husband happens to be a dentist and I can tell you if him or any of his staff made such an error... it would not be swept under the table so easily. \r My advice is run run away from this place if you love your pet!!! more

Coffee Road Animal Hospital 4/19/2009

Yes, they are expensive, but it would take something major to make me go elsewhere. When my 15 year old springer spaniel went into kidney failure, they walked me through her last few weeks with so much compassion, I will be eternally grateful. 3 different times they got me in immediately when I was anxious and unsure of what I should do. The sympathy card I received later was signed by about 18 or 20 people. I used to board my dog a lot at the Pet Resort, and she had NO anxiety about going there. I can't say enough about how good they were to her. I have another dog now, and CRAH remains my first choice. If I have to sit for a while in the waiting room, I don't mind. I know it's because someone else is getting the kind of attention I got when I needed it most. more

Re: Dog that caught on fire @ Coffee Road Animal Hospital 1/24/2009

Regarding the dog that caught on fire while in the hands of Coffee Road Animal Hospital. I am not surprised that the owner of coffee road is not refunding these people the amount of the surgery. After seeing the animals burns on the news if I was the owner of that veterinary office a refund would be worth it just to save the business from bad publicity. I feel bad for the person who was operating on this dog though because it obviously was not their fault according to the news the machine malfunctioned and caught this poor dog on fire. I was a client of this office and although all the doctors are really good every time I turned around they were raising their prices and with a husband 2 children and 2 dogs we just could not afford to keep paying the outlandish prices that coffee road animal hospital continues to charge. We are now at an office with a great vet and prices that my family can afford and I know our family pets are in good hands. Good luck to the family of the burned dog! more

Most recent experience was worst ever 1/23/2009

I brought my cat in for a follow-up visit (after seeing an ER vet over a weekend for a severe upper respiratory infection). I was advised to follow-up with her standard vet. I explained the situation to Dr. Mishci . I also explained that my cat had was still exhibiting some strange behavior and that I would like an evaluation for Feline Leukemia. She gently examined my cat, and took care to listen closely to her heart and lungs. My cat has 2 herniated discs in her back, which were irritated from the exam. I explained this, and for her to be very gentle during the blood draw. As I peeked through the hole in the film covering the "procedure room" I was horrified to watch a credentialed professional "stick" my cat 8 times trying to get blood. She was very rough (more than is reasonable) as the smashed her into the table. In all her life, with blood draws, stool samples, and even injections she has had an amazing temperament...much more than any cat I've owned. She writhed in pai more

Excellent Veternary Care!! 10/6/2008

The staff and Vets are great. Everybody who takes their pet there is highly satisfied. The vets treat your pet like family. The hospital is in a very good area, the facilities are clean. more

Unbelievable Service and Outstanding staff 8/5/2008

I could never say enough about the staff at this facility. Our little dog is like a family member there. They know her by name, take time to hold and play with her when she is boarded and without question saved her life when she required surgery. We didn't give her much of a chance but because of their caring and expertise she is still with us and very healthy. If you really care for your dog, I highly recommend Coffee Road Animal Hospital. Ask for Dr. Hammond, Dr. Paine or Dr. Minche more

Vets and Kennels 8/10/2006

The vet staff is very caring and loving towards animals. They remember you and your pets. My dogs love it there. When my dogs are kenneled the are not charging out the door to come home like most other kennels. more
