Dr. Hammond misdiagnosed my beloved lab/pit mix. She was bleeding out of her hind end. He examined her, and then gave this diagnosis? "She is overweight, and so she is chafing inside." \r \r About six weeks later, when she was clearly in pain, I took her to North of the River Vet Hospital. There, Dr. Virga immediately took an X-ray. It showed that there were enormous cancerous tumors throughout her body. \r \r Why didn't Hammond take a simple X-ray? His failure to use an obviously important diagnostic tool may have cost my dogs weeks and weeks of unnecessary pain. Dogs are so good at hiding pain--who knows how much she suffered. \r \r I lost her three weeks after the Dr. Virga's diagnosis. He was great: he made sure that she could be very comfortable at home with me for those precious weeks, and when the time came, he gave us a quiet room in which to say goodbye. He was very patient, and that meant everything. \r \r Afterwards, I receive a rose and a beautiful card. It meant so much.
