I discovered Clarke's in 1996 when the multi-switch on '87 Accord failed and I was in Portland. They did a great job repairing it. When I moved to the Portland area in 2000 I started taking the same car in for all the service it needed. They've always been able to get me in, even on short notice. Oil changes are quick, painless, done right, and 2/3 the price of the drive-through chain places that stripped my oil plug in the past. I've found them to be impeccably honest too. They replaced my engine several years ago and three months later the rear main seal failed. There was no way for me to know whether it was a new problem or a failed part they installed -- they could have ripped me off big-time, but they didn't. They covered the $800 repair, no questions asked, admitting that the seal they installed had failed. Parts at Clarke's can be a little spendy because they use factory/OEM parts, but the labour rates are competitive and the quality always great. I'm just sorry that I'm moving away. I hope I can find another shop that can compare. more

I brought our 96 Lexus in for repair about 6 months ago. They spent a couple days with it as it needed a lot of work (labor intensive). We were very pleased with what was returned, though I noticed the radiator was leaking. We took it back and they said since it wasn't like that when we brought it in, they'd fix it at no charge. There was a drain spout that must've been knocked during the initial repair. We were happy to see this company had integrity and would not hesitate to use them or recommend them to anyone. They don't have loaners though. Pros: good work, integrity, knowlegable Cons: no loaner, had an extra expense renting a car more

I brought my vehicle in on a Saturday. I Had my Honda Civic diagnosed for an ABS light failure. Problem was diagnosed within 4 hours. The mechanics only has to put it on a scope (computer) and a printout displays number codes that corresponds to a tech manual that lets the mechanic know what is exactly wrong with the troubleshoot. First I called them and I was told it would be done in 1-2 hours. I had to call them again to see if the vehicle was done yet an hour before close time. I was told the part was not in and they would keep it over the weekend. It's Monday at 2:30 pm and vehicle isn't done yet. I was also suggested that another $1200.00 of extra work needs to be done on the car. Just a suggestion though. Cons: Slow service, Doesn't update client more
