Horrible Service but good food..... 11/19/2007

Wow! I am still reeling from our last experience on Friday night at Circa's. The service was horrible! We have been to Circa's a few times before as we really enjoy the food, all-be-it over-priced, but good. The service has alway been under par for the price and this night proved it. We ended up sitting at the bar, which we do enjoy, rather than waiting in a very small entry way for a table for 20-40 minutes. We sat at the bar and for 10 minutes we were ignored by the 2 bartenders. We even made direct eye contact with the bartender and she still ignored us. She seemed more interested in putting her lip-gloss on than serving the paying customer. I even watched the other customers sitting around us and they all either had empty glasses or seemed just as perturbed as us. We ended up putting our jackets back on and walking out. We had a much more enjoyable meal and service at The Mission just down the way from Circa's!!! This was also not the 1st time this has happened to us. We thought the 1st time was maybe just a bad night, but this proved to us that we won't be going back. Very sad about that as we like the atmosphere and the food. I hope the Manager or owner of this restaraunt checks these reviews so they can hopefully make some adjustments accordingly. I just feel as though the waitresses don't really need this job and are snooty to boot!!!! more

BEST Steak Salad in Seattle 6/7/2007

I have eaten at Circa at least 2X per week over the last 2 years. The food is excellent and the experienced staff is friendly and efficient. ALL of the food is very good. My favorite, the STEAK SALAD is the BEST in Seattle, bar none.! The portions of all entees are generous and use the freshest availble ingredients. The rotating micro-brew taps continually provide an excellent suds selection and the wine list is concise but balanced and the wines available well selected. Parking can be challenging but the neighborhood is very safe if you have to park and hike. When table seating is full I strongly recommend sitting at the bar where service feels almost individual and doting. Dress attire is casual/comfortable. Pros: Food, Professional Waitstaff, Beverages Cons: Parking more

Good food - often bad service 5/18/2007

My husband and I used to go here on a very regular basis but after 3 bad service experiences in a row...we are done! We walked in one evening right as they were opening their doors. The 2 waiters and 1 bartender stood in front of the kitchen/register area and ""chatted"" for 10 minutes. We were the only ones in the restaurant and we were purposefully ignored. The owner better wise up or any and all of his regulars will be gone. more

WORST SERVICE IN WEST SEATTLE!!!! 3/14/2007

Beware! The food is a real treat but the service...SCARY! I think I possibly ran in to the worlds rudest waitress; i was waiting for candid camera to appear.. Pros: great food Cons: very bad food more

best flavors in town 2/15/2007

My partner and I eat here often. It has become one of our favorite spots. The Service I believe to be more casual then slow and I have never had anyone be rude to me. Having frequented most fine restaurants in this city many times over, I will take Circa over most of them. The reason? The flavors. The food here is amazing. Prices are beyond reasonable. I am used to paying a hundred to two hundred for the two of us when we go out and not getting near as much as we do when we go to Circa. At Circa, we can have a three course meal and a bottle of wine for around sixyty. What a bargin for such great food. This is a casual place, with a great beer and wine list and an emphisis on food with a wonderul attention to flavors. Pros: Great food and beers on tap Cons: slow service more

Great breakfast & lunch, they have toys for the young kids to entertain themselves with. 11/13/2006

Great neighborhood restaurant. The food is always great. The kids love the toys that are available & we appreciate that it bussies them for a few minutes while the food is being prepared. Breakfast is great as is lunch. We haven't eaten dinner there too often only because when we go out for dinner we area looking for a more upscale restaurant. Pros: The food & service Cons: parking can be troublesome. more

Good food, AWFUL service 9/18/2006

I have been to circa several times for brunch and dinner. I chose to dine there for lunch and will never attempt it again! I understand slow service for dinner, but most people are on a schedule for lunch. After waiting to be seated in an emty restaurant, it took a minute to get an order in, once we did the appetizer came almost immediately. The lunch however took 45 minutes!!! Once the food came we asked for the bill and to go boxes as we no longer had time to eat there. One to go box came promtly, the other never came at all. We also wanted to charge it, but had to pay cash, as she never returned. Pros: great food! Cons: poor ervice! more

Good food - sketchy service 4/18/2006

I've never had a bad meal here, but I've gotten marginal, slow even rude service. The steak salad is delicious, burger is one of the best in town - food is great. The one good waitress seems to have left. Parking is tight, but I usually find a spot. It's small so if you sit by the door in winter, you get a blast up your skirt every couple of minutes (and not in a good way). In fact, maybe they could fix the door so that it doesn't stay a-jar all the time. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait and there is no-where to stand but up by the door - and if it's winter, by all means, hold it open so you freeze everyone out. Don't get me wrong, I live in West Seattle, I go here a lot and over-all I like it and recommend it Pros: food is good, best steak salad ever Cons: iffy service, very small, cold in winter more

I like it a lot 2/16/2006

My wife and I enjoy it tremendously, especially the Circa burger and the BBQ chicken salad. My wife always gets the specials and she has yet to be disapointed. I always see families with kids in there and we are always served promptly. Granted the waitresses are nto very outgoing, but they are as good as any other place we have been. They also pour a great Guiness and Black and Tan. more

Horrible Service 2/10/2006

We got there right as they opened and sat at the bar so we would have prompt service. What a joke. After our first drinks were served, we were completely ignored. With 3 people behind the bar, you would think at least one of them would notice my beer glass had been empty for 15 minutes. The girls who work there seem to be only interested in the regulars and made us feel like unwanted outsiders on our first visit there. We had to wave our hands in the air to even get them to look at us. we had intended to stay for dinner, but realized that getting someone to take our order would be nearly impossible. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! We will definitely not be back! more

Slow service (: 5/25/2005

Reasonably priced, good selection of microbrews, but I can't wait 40 minutes for my food during lunch. Under staffed when busy, either get there right as they open or phone in your order so you don't have to wait (might be the problem to begin with. Food tasted good. Pros: Tasty Cons: Wait more

If only the service was as good as the food! 5/19/2005

Every time I go in....I wonder what the management is thinking. The service borderline....marginal at best. There is only one server we like and we make sure to sit in her section. more

one of my favorites! 4/26/2005

I purchased a gift certificate for Circa, tried them once and have been back over and over for the delicious and creative food. The service has always been prompt ( I guess it all depends on when you go) and only once was one of the waitresses snotty (and it appears she doesn't work there anymore). We went 2 weeks ago and the food was great as usual and the servers were attentive and friendly. The art was not fabulous this time around and the chairs are a bit uncomfortable but the food makes it completely worth it! Pros: creative food, friendly service Cons: hard chairs more

Disapointed again 10/13/2004

I was very excited when Circa opened. It was the first nice pub type place in the neighborhood and I really wanted to support it. But every time I went, the food was mediocre and the service was AWFUL. We tried it 4-5 times and walked out 3 times because of outright rude service. Recently a friend mentioned how much they liked it so I tried it again. We got total attitude (RUDE) and walked out. I am DONE with this place! When service is consistently rude it says something about the attitude of the management. Cons: , Bad Attitude, Mediocre food more

Cozy neighborhood spot 3/25/2003

The food here is great. I've eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. They have great soups and I LOVE the ham & brie cheese toasted sandwich. It does get quite busy and service can be a bit slow. Nice place to go on a rainy day! Pros: Food, Price, Ambience Cons: Parking, Can be slow more

local spot 12/4/2002

This place is a comfortable place to be, the food is good, and you can catch the game on tv. Pros: good food, friendly, sports on tv Cons: can be busy, noisy, small tables more

BEST DAMN BREAKFAST IN TOWN! 7/30/2002

Jitterbug Who? This is the real deal for THE best Sat and Sun brunch in greater Seattle! Pancakes w/ Praline syrup (to die for) were just one of many exciting menu choices and the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. We dined with six of us and everyone's breakfast was perfect, from the egg preparation to the Andouille Sausage Benedict to the straightforward over-medium w/ hash browns. Pros: FANTASTIC BREAKFAST, Fun, Funky Art, Great Food & Beer Cons: Parking can be tight, Seating limited more

Very good 7/16/2002

The steak salad is great. I've eaten there many times and have only had one meal that wasn't very good. The food is creative, but not scary. I lived and dined in Belltown for years and the food is a very good value by comparison. There is one waitress who is very slow, but they are nice. Service can drag when it is busy. Pros: Value, Food more
