My favorite patio and awesome sunset fajitas 10/18/2011

Carolina's is my under the radar favorite Mexican restaurant. Always good food and never a long wait like you can get at Mi Cocina. I love their fajitas and last time a friend recommended I order their ""Sunset fajitas"" which aren't on the menu but are amazing. I highly recommend them. more

I like Carolina's patio a lot. I usually get their sour cream enchiladas but their mole sauce is probably their most popular and is very good. more

High Class Mexican Food 7/12/2010

Margarita's on the patio! Ole and happy frijoles! This place has a huge patio, overlooking some kind of canal with lattice work pergolas and such. Heck just look at the pictures. Very quiet, no traffic noise. Just the gentle sound of crunching chips all around. The 70 degree weather was just great to eat parilladas in the shade. I know you're wondering was the heck are parilladas? Well, they look like, taste like, and smell like fajitas. So why don't they just call them fajitas and be done with it? Beats me, but a whichever they were, I ate all on my plate with relish, gusto and delicious flour tortillas. At least they still call a tortilla a tortilla! The sides were really good as well, especially the guacamole and pico de gallo. A full ice-cream scoop of tasty guacamole and pico needed their own plate, they were so big. The rice and refried beans also came on their own plate. A large plate of sizzling fajitas and the table was full up. Three plates (four, if you include the tortillas) all for ME! I'm still full, and this was almost eight hours ago. Easily splittable for two. Please, don't try to eat it all in one meal. At least take some home with you. No mas! (At least not until manana). My wife had the lunch special # 5, 2 cheese enchiladas with chili con carne, rice and beans. ($7.95). She said it was delicious and, ""just the right sized lunch for ONE"" (her own emphasis) as she stared with disdain at my empty plate. (Pause while I relive my gluttonous shame -- OK, that's enough). Needless to say, there was no room for dessert. So, why no five star review. Well, I'm a tough reviewer and that fifth star doesn't come easy. The only thing I didn't absolutely enjoy, was the rather weak salsa. I mean, if the salsa doesn't singe my tonsils, there's no 5 star! Besides, I haven't known Carolina's well enough to give up my 5th star so easily. What kind of reviewer do you think I am. Pros: Great fajitas and patio Cons: Salsa could be hotter more

great food, reasonable price 2/15/2010

This restaurant should be packed every night, and I predict it will be when people learn of its existence. It is better than Mi Cocina and less expensive, and the staff is friendly. Also we like that there is plenty of room, and one never feels crowded or rushed. Try their homemade flan if you want to have a taste of heaven on earth! more

Went with a big group and loved it 12/17/2009

We met a big group of friends at Carolina's the other night and had a great time. The happy hour was awesome. They have $2 pints of draft beer every day until 7pm and of good draft beers (probably 30 choices). I know there are also daily margaritas and mixed drink happy hour specials but since I was drinking beer. I am not sure what they were. \r \r The restaurant / bar feels more like a place you would find in Uptown Dallas and not far north Dallas / Plano. The food was definitely impressive. There weren't a ton of people there on early weekday night but it actually worked out better for our large group because we got lots of attention from the bartenders.\r \r In general we had lots of fun there and the sopapillas at the end of the night definitely hit to spot. Pros: Inexpensive happy hour drinks and great food more

Awesome Patio!! 11/19/2009

When Carolina's opened this summer, it started as a neighbor gem but as reviews are coming out more and more people are realizing it is there and it is good. \r The restaurant is in the shadow of 190 and probably a half mile from the intersection of 190 and the Tollway.\r \r The brisket tacos are the bomb and the tres leches cake is to die for. Mostly I would say get there early order a margarita and go out back and sit on their big patio and BS about life while enjoying the patio and wandering why more Dallas restaurants and bars don't have patios like theirs. Pros: Great mexican food with a nice atmosphere more

Beautiful restaurnat and more importantly, great food 11/15/2009

Great location to meet up, at the intersection of the 2 tollways\r \r Food is awesome! Mole sauce on anything, brisket tacos, ceviche to name a few\r \r Drinks! La Bomba is great and they have at least 20 beers on tap\r \r Prices are very reasonable\r \r Atmosphere puts you in Mexico and the patio is is huge and well decorated to give you an authentic Mexico feel\r \r Service was great so far everytime I've been\r \r Still looking for a con.... I'll add it when and if I find one! Pros: Pro: finally a good mexican food place north of 635 Cons: Con: none that I could find yet more

Hidden Treasure !! Beautiful, Wonderful Dining Experience ! 11/5/2009

It took me a few minutes to find, almost decided not to go in, BUT BOY WAS I GLAD I DID! \r GREAT FOOD, everything ordered was wonderful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. And VERY affordable, we fed 8 for less than $100.00\r Absolutely beautiful, so many diffent areas to discover..very Contemporary, Retro, and Modern, and still so very Inviting. I was suprised by the outside patio, very tranquil and the outdoor fireplace and social sitting area, made for a very entertaining evening. I went with a party of 8, all different ages, and EVERYONE had a great time. Families feel very welcomed. Also, I noticed a few couples have a beautiful romantic evening, uneffected by our boisterous group. As the seating areas are VERY well planned.\r I will be back again and again, I plan to review after a visit on a week-end, was told that it is The Place-to-Be. Pros: Atmosphere is VERY pleasing, AND BEST CHILI RELLENO EVER!! Cons: Needs better Signage, hard to find..parking not great either more

Great Mexican Food and an awesome patio 10/20/2009

I would say the things that make Carolina's stand out from the crowds of Mexican food restaurants in DFW are the food, the patio and the bar. The food across the board has a little more thought effort and quality ingredients. The patio is huge and covered with a kind of clear covering that lets sunlight in. There are fans and heaters out there to help mitigate the swings of North Texas temperatures but it makes a nice oasis to sit outside and eat or have a drink. There is a bar outside but the bar inside it the really impressive one and runs the length of the restaurant. They have all the traditional drinks you might want and also their ""La Bomba"" which is a tasty sangria infused margarita and also they have probably between 25 and 35 beers on tap which is unique for a Mexican restaurant. Pros: Great food, large nice patio, and cool bar more
