Stay Away from Capwest! Capwest seemed to have a good online application process and the sales rep I got connected with through the Costco website seemed to be knowledgeable and helpful. I provided all of my information and the loan went through underwriting. Everything was approved and closing was scheduled -- but 24 hours prior to closing the underwriter came back and required a condo questionairre to be completed. As it turns out, our association is still in the hands of the developer because the subdivision is still being completed. As a result -- no refinance. No refund of the application fee. Just hung out to dry after going through the process for 50 days. No appeal process. You'd think that they'd ask for this information up front, but apparently one day before closing is a good time to ask. more

I came across CapWest online when I was searching for a loan. They were advertising discounts for Costco members. I saved $400 off their bank fees because I have an executive membership. Random fact - the guy that helped me do my loan at CapWest also shops at the same Costco I do in Overland Park. Originally I was going to get another 30 year loan but found out I could do a 15 year for almost the same monthly payment. Process was smooth and everyone was super nice. I'd recommend with a doubt. more

Avoid this company at all costs. After PreApproving me for a loan, providing complete documentation, getting constant praise for staying on top of providing what was needed for my loan application, I suddently stopped getting responses. After 2 weeks of not hearing from anyone about the appraisal I had ordered I heard back that the loan officer I was working with had left the company. 2 more loan officers later I got denied for my loan. My ratios were good, my credit good, everything good. Simply because the house I was looking to move into was close to my existing house, they insisted that I get a non-owner occupied loan instead (even though I am moving into the house - multiple reasons for the move). A Non-owner occupied loan apparently has terms more favorable to the lender which starts with a requirement of 25% down. The last I heard from them was first that they were going to let the PMI underwriter decide whether to fund the loan or not and then a request for more documentation, most of which I had already provided. It has been another 2 weeks and I have not been able to get a response via email or get hold of anyone by phone. I have NEVER had such a horrible experience with ANY company before. more
